Already checked them out, nice work an glad your back.

    Same here.

How have you been liking the Theros spoilers so far? There's a decent amount of deck-worthy legends in there already.

Specter will also end up landing on useful things like counters and board wipes that would be castable.

Exactly. Getting rid of resources your opponent(s) could use against you is always good. Being able to play some of them is just a sweet bonus.

I like the fact that you don't have to play the exiled card(s) immediately. Besides, Blue and Black are pretty popular colors. It's rare to find a table without another deck running one of these colors.

I still believe this promotes "bad attitudes" towards certain cards.
Again, I'd strongly advize you teach tolerance instead. "How to enjoy each meta-game" or "How to Improve your meta-game" (with options for either removing certain "bad karma" cards or seeing them as a challenge).

I'll say it again, teach tolerance not hate.

He can't win can he? Everytime he says something you'll find a way to disagree with him.

None. If your deck is fun and creative and if you're sociable and respectful, I don't care what deck you play and which cards you play with.

I'm a strong proponent of responsibility in EDH. Know when to throw haymakers and know when to pull your punches. Understand broken cards and interactions and how they can negatively affect the "fun and flow" of a game. Respect the social contract and realize that everyone's fun is everybody's responsibility.

I used to play a ton of Modern until about six months ago. I still like the format, but between work, training and a young child, I just don't have time to keep up with an evolving metagame.

So it's mostly been Commander since then. I'm not complaining though, I love it.

  • posted a message on Torch Fiend or Manic Vandal?
I run Torch Fiend in Sedris. Obviously, Thrax is a different deck but they often share some similarities being of the same colors. The reason why I favor Torch Fiend over Manic Vandal in that deck is because the Fiend can get himself in the graveyard. It's quite useful with all the reanimation/recursion you can find in Grixis colors.

Erm... 3 more mana (+R, +kick twice) to take out a table of 4. That's not "a lot more" when you're talking about finishing the game.

::Sigh:: Facepalm Alright. Play on semantics all you want. The point is that - as a finisher - Comet Storm cost more, can be countered and the damage can be prevented.

It's a great spell and the OP should run it. But its role is usually different than Banefire's.

OTOH, Comet Storm can finish off multiple opponents, while Banefire can't. And if you're worried about counterspells, Boseiju, Who Shelters All is a thing.

True, but you'll need to sink a lot more mana into it to do so. For sheer straightforward burn bluntness, Banefire is probably better.

To the point though, if the OP is looking to run three such burn spells, I would probably drop Earthquake and run Banefire, Comet Storm and Starstorm.

Depends on what you want to do. As a burn sweeper, Comet Storm is pretty solid. If you're looking for a card to finish off an opponent, then you can't go wrong with Banefire.

WAIT!!! Are you really going to leave the clan over something as simple as what platform we're using? The whole cockatrice using thing isn't required for you to be in the clan, and I'm sure you can find some of the other members on MTGO, its just that currently most of our members cannot use MTGO. You can still be a part of the clan without constantly playing the clan online.

I just don't see how I could effectively interact with Clan members if I'm not on the same platform as they are. Random posts in a forum thread isn't really going to be enough for me to feel like I belong.

This isn' me throwing a tantrum - I just misunderstood the original intent. If the Clan is created on both Cockatrice and MtGO, I'll be more than happy to remain and play with you guys. As I mentioned originally, Commander/EDH clans seems to be a rarity on MtGO and I've been looking for one for some time. But if the Clan is Cockatrice only, I just don't see the point.

It's a sweet card for a single :symw:. As was mentioned, solid as a Ranger of Eos target, good against tokens. Works well with Morph too.

Can be a little risky with all the great creatures with EtB effects though.

More a theme card than anything else. Pretty sweet with Sedris though if you can find a way to sac/destroy it.

I hate to say this but Mindslaver seems like a natural fit for this kind of deck.

I'd probably also run cards like Notion Thief and Plagiarize. It's not exactly on theme, but it does keep you one step ahead of your opponent(s), which is what this deck wants to do.

And I can recommend anyone to add GOG to buddylist. One of the nicest people around mtgo commander games that I have played with.

I should also aim for chromatic...

Hey, thanks man! Smile Can definitely say the same.

And Chromatic has been fun. It's time consuming and can be a little expensive, but a great challenge. Making sure that all your decks are unique and not rehash of one another, limiting overlaps between decks, building around themes and not basic good stuff... fun times.

Sets updates are hell thought. Tongue

Edit: Oh and Cryogen, you're missing an "m" in my MtGO name in the first post. Thanks for doing this by the way.

The issue with MTGO is that it requires money, while Cockatrice is completely free. We opted for the free version because more people in the clan are able to use it.

Well, if it's Cockatrice only you can remove me from the Clan. I have no interest in that platform.
