Fun idea that's been surprisingly consistent. Not sure if all the enchantment hate around makes this completely nonviable, but it's tons of fun and holds it's own against a bunch of brews I've tested it with.
All sorts of shenanigans here. With the card draw and soon to be revealed ultra-secret-but-not-really 1 ofs don't matter tech, you can cram all sorts of indestructible nonsense into every game!
Fleshed it out with some more toolboxery. Direct life loss, unblockability, spot removal, aggro hate, semi-search/grave returners, and ultra-shenanigans if you play Gift on Eidolon. Now, a very special drumroll please for the land base that absolutely shouldn't work, but somehow does:
Not sure, that's why I'm asking Maybe splash green for Tree of Redemption? I was already thinking of removing the jaces for Skaab Ruinator to give it a little more meat, I'm just not sure the additional requirement will be met so easily with only 12 other critters, at least one of which you need in play to actually win the way the deck is supposed to.
So immediately after seeing Laboratory Maniac I had to try to come up with a self decking deck. I've been away since before Zendikar so I'm really only familiar with Innistrad right now, hence most of the cards being from there, so any suggestions would be appreciated!
Stinkdrinker is a must in this deck. Blindspot giant is pretty good too. Brion is a neccessity, Sunrise Sovereign is pretty good as a finisher. 4x Crib swap (reduced by stinkdrinker!)and 2x Crush Underfoot are pretty good, but lash out is a must. Thundercloud Shaman is like a one sided wrath many times. You dont want 4 favor the mighty, it makes no sense early. I'm not sold on Greatheart, I've tested it, sometimes it's good, sometimes it's terrible. When I get home from work I'll post my list.
Here's one I threw together without too much thought. I only tested against a Kithkin deck I made, with me playing both decks lol, but it looks like it has potential. This is a block deck though, I know you are all going for standard, but it's a solid base so far. Once you get drowner and judge out, most aggro decks probably can't keep up too well. Might be vulnerable to burn. I have to go to bed, so I can't test anymore tonight, but let me know what you think.
BTW: Sower of temptation is amazing against aggro, and fathom trawl is surprisingly good too, although for 2 five mana slots, there might be better choices.
You're forgetting to stack Merieke's triggered ability when it untaps on step 3. The one that destroys the creature? Yep. So it doesn't work exactly like that, because the "you control" clause doesn't say "as long as she's tapped", it says "as long as you control her", and the moment it untaps it will not lose control of the creature but will stack the triggered destroy ability. You can still sac it, though.
The destroy ability is part of the gain control ability. If you don't let the gain control ability resolve first, untapping does nothing.
Changeling berserker + Goblin harbringer(getting the changeling)
Killed the Changeling? Harbringer a Warren pilferers, and return the berserker to your hand. Swing, then fodder launch the changeling next turn, and pilferer the changeling again...
Also, Oblivion ring + an opponent was a pretty good combo too.
Because that's not how the rules work. A split card has two mana costs, and therefore two CMCs. When an effect needs to know its CMC it uses both numbers. So:
1) An effect like Transmute asks if the split card's CMC is X. If either CMC is X, it gets a "yes," because its CMC is X. It also has a CMC that is not X, but that isn't what it asked.
2) An effect like Dark Confidant asks what its CMC is, gets two answers, and uses both of them. If a Hit//Run is revealed, the player loses 3 and 5 life, which is the same as losing 8 life.
Now lets apply this to Clash. Clash says:
501.10c A player wins a clash if that player revealed a card with a higher converted mana cost than all other cards revealed in that clash.
In the example, Player A reveals a card with CMC 2, and Player B reveals a split card with CMCs 1 and 3.
When checking to see if Player A won, it asks: "Did you reveal a card with a higher converted mana cost than all other cards revealed in the Clash?" One other card was revealed, and it had a CMC of 1, and 2 is greater than 1. It also had a CMC of 3, but nobody asked that.
When checking to see if Player B won, it asks: "Did you reveal a card with a higher converted mana cost than all other cards revealed in the Clash?" One other card was revealed, and it had a CMC of 2, and 3 is greater than 2. 1 isn't greater than 2, but it doesn't need to be.
Well, that kind of makes more sense. That's exactly the interaction that had me thinking you normally just totalled the CMC, i.e. erratic mutation revealing a split card.
Not to nitpick, but you don't need luminthread field.
Anyway, I suppose the question is, if Kraj can use the abilities of an artifact creature planeswalker, does it have the same per turn/timing restrictions?
So, I guess the Experiment Kraj/ Make a planeswalker a creature thing works then?:heart::heart: I see no restrictions about non-planeswalkers using planeswalker abilities.
And that Clash/split card thing makes no sense. Why wouldn't it just be the total CMC of the split card?
OOOOOH! good call on the browbeat, I always wanted to make that card playable. Too bad it doesn't say spell or ability, cause I would make one hell of a deck with Pandemonium. In fact, I think I just may anyway. Furnace of Rath, Pandemonium, Hostility, Shock, hey, I just did 36 damage and I didn't even swing yet!
You and you're opponent are both at 5 life. You have Guile, they have two Mahamotis. Which evasion ability do you want?
You can tailor situations to make anything better. The question is, which is better more often? I think you know.
3 Eidolon of Blossoms
4 Courser of Kruphix
4 Brain Maggot
2 Master of the Feast
Here's the core of the base. Card advantage, control, and power. Yay!

1 Erebos, God of the Dead
1 Karametra, God of Harvests
1 Keranos, God of storms
1 Kruphix, God of Horizons
1 Purphoros, God of the Forge
1 Bow of Nylea

2 Grim Guardian
2 Aqueous Form
3 Banishing Light
3 Circle of Flame
1 Gift of Immortality
2 Kruphix's Insight
2 Reviving Melody

5 Forest
2 Island
2 Mountain
2 Plains
3 Swamps
2 Llanowar Wastes
1 Bloodstained Mire
1 Flooded Strand
4 Mana Confluence
1 Polluted Delta
1 Windswept Heath
1 Wooded Foothills
Haven't really worked out a sideboard, but it would probably need removal and a bit of enchantment hate for ascendancies.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Don't knock it til you've tried it!
Edit: Just realized this probably shouldn't be in new card discussion as it's mostly Theros... Dang it!

3 Think Twice
3 Forbidden Alchemy
2 Memory's Journey
4 Visions of Beyond

3 Silvergill Dousers
3 Sower of Temptation
3 Fallowsage
4 Ponder
3 Whirlpool Whelm

Oh well, thanks for the post Natedogg!
Well, you can only prevent damage once, then it doesn't exist anymore, so after the first ability resolves, theres no more damage.
