Hey guys, Gerry Thompson just posted a bunch of his Steam Augury brews on SCG Premium, go check em out!
...which is interesting because even though Steam Augury has been spoiled here for the better part of a week, it's *not* available as a single for preorder.
So one might ask, 'what's the point'? Do you believe this card is real or not, SCG?
This is probably a Magic Show spoiler, which tends to upload a little later than the typical 12:00 mn of the rest of SCG's articles. I've been wondering why we haven't seen one yet, considering we're 75% over with Theros spoiler season.
This is not a broken card, nor is it unplayable. It's somewhere in between. I've thought about this card a lot and could probably write a full-length article on exactly what its role would be, if i were arsed to do so. Here's a TL : DR version -
The main problem with this card is the -x ability is not good against the decks that you could run this on turn three and not sweat your life total. This card would be really REALLY good against the current Jund deck, but I'm not certain that kind of ponderous, grindy, trade 1-for-1 forever deck wilth a bunch of 4-5 drop creatures and no early threats aside from Ooze will exist come rotation.
As much as I love this card, I can't help but notice the flavor fail. This guy is the guardian of the underworld, he's not going to be doing much attacking. It should have been can block up to three creatures, but I guess that would steal that white hecatonchires' thunder.
That aside, I really REALLY look forward to getting back all my Lifebane Zombies, Shadowborn Demons and what have you come October 1.
Oh thank God the packaging is green. RtR was blue, GTC was red and DGM was yellow. My OCD went into overdrive when M14 was revealed to be blue/gold colored. I was this close to painting a fatpack box green just to complete the color palette.
It's interesting to compare these six to the preview cards from last year's DD. (Street Spasm, Izzet Charm, Goblin Electromancer, Jarad, Dreg Mangler and Korozda Guildmage)
Only three (and I'm kind of scraping for Dreg Mangler) of those saw/see Constructed play whereas Polukranos, Satyr Hedonist, Anax + Cymede and Destructive Revelry have a lot of potential.
Already exists, that's Blades of Velis Vel.
Almost strictly better in a different color is Symbiosis.

Not quite, your opponent can just choose to sacrifice the Pit Fight's target to the Heroic ability.

Well, either that or some merfolk that Timetwisters, but doing that every turn seems horrible.
Minotaur lord seems RB to me.
