Not sure about reserved list status of Covetous and Lin Sivvi. If they are on it, I'd go with Temporal Aperture and Parallax Wave respectively instead.
Very interesting extra text, it's borderline not good enough for Standard, though.
I was actually expecting the other ability to be more Reflecting Pool-esque, "add one mana of any color a Gate you control could produce to your mana pool".
You know what was actually the worst large set of the past few years at the time it came out? Rise of the Eldrazi.
Seriously, that set was a two-card set of Vengevine and Gideon. Almost none of the non-Mythic cards had a value of $5 or more. Look at it now though, a lot of the cards are worth more than most people imagined they would be, like Linvala and Kozilek. Gatecrash is nowhere near the crapshoot of maybe-you'll-get-half-your-money-back if you open a box like RotE was and if it is indeed going to be underopened, look for things like foil Primordials to be very valuable in a couple of years.
I think it's close to consensus that a guild with a crab shark takes the flavor trophy home.
I dig Gruul though. Gruul Charm has basically the best flavor text. And guild letter.
Boros is super bland.
Actually, crabshark guy is a bit of a flavorfail judging from the art. If you were to graft crab traits onto a shark, wouldn't you want to provide it with exoskeletal armor or giant pincers? Why would you force your guy to walk sideways only for the rest of its pitiful life?
The RG removal spell, the XRG spell, and Orzhov Charm are very capable removal spells. If you're expecting Unmake or Lightning Helix you'll likely be disappointed.
Nah, I do recognize there's plenty of removal at Uncommon or higher. It's the common removal that intrigues me, being a limited aficionado.
Also, someone mentioned a card called Beck/Call? Where is this?
Merciless Eviction
And no, the shocks and guildgates are not included in the set numbering.

Y'know what this product is? Duel Decks: Batman vs The Joker.
Simply they're the Colors Of Kill Everything.
Interestingly enough, coke is a black beverage that comes in a red and white can. Coincidence? Hmm?

This is really a speculator's set.

Unmake would be perfect. This block sorely needs a kill-that-guy-period effect.
