Even budget builds are good to look over, and good to get ideas. The 2 things I notice the most are... You do not need Sol Ring, or Mana Crypt, you dont have enough spells (except for green sun) that require colorless mana. I would take those out for Elvish spirit guides.
The second thing I noticed is the lack of qasali pridemage. You need multiple of them, they are one of the best cards in ur deck. They help against every match up.
But thank you for sharing your deck list. Ill post my powered version tonight when I get home.
So I am going to go with Noble Fish, now just need to iron out a deck and work out the kinks. I have played the deck for several months, but I always feel like its just good enough to win, but never over powering an opponent. I guess you take the 50% match up across the board since no decks just steamroll this deck, at least not that I know of.
Ive been told !Porcelain Legionnaire is great against the agro versions. STony silence helps the metalworker/kuldotha forgemaster versions.
This deck has a problem with running out of gas. I have always wanted to draw more cards. I really want to fit 2-3 Jace in it... Eldric has always been okay, but he just never draws me enough cards to keep up.
Since the power pieces I have are closest to this deck, its what I will most likely be running at gencon. I still have 1-2 more tournaments before then to work out a final list.
At Bazaar of Moxen, a BUG fish deck came in top 8... it looks pretty sweet... I don't know what it lost too in the finals, but its an option as well...
After playing a few vintage tournaments I really dont think graffdiggers cage in the main is the way to go... It helps dont get me wrong. I love being able to shut off tinkerbot and snapcaster...and its amazing against dredge, but it doesnt do much against a lot of match ups, and it does stop you from being able to gsz...
I really do like the stony silence in the main, those have been amazing every time.

If the gaming goat opens up in Schaumburg Ill be there every week.
Pastimes Legacy on Thursdays isnt bad, and even if you cant make the tournament and show up a little late you can get some practice in and some trading... Hotsaucegames on monday nights is the same way. Plus if you are going to one of these tournaments and are going to be 15 minutes late you might be able to call them and ask them to wait for you.
If you all play vintage you can carpool with me, i live in Schaumburg... i know thats not a huge help for some, but it might help get a few of you up there. The 3rd Sunday of every month is better than nothing..
Has anyone tried Mox Diamond? yes I know you deed it away, but it ramps you into deed, jace, night a turn earlier, which can be cruicial. You discard a land.. play bring it back with life from the loam. This deck starts taking control on turn 4 (turn 5 if they have Thalia on the field), with the diamond, you can come out a turn faster. yes after you deed, its gone, but the early ramp before the deed can win you the game.
If StarCityGames ever announces they are doing a focus on Standard and Modern, Legacy will fall out of grace just like vintage did. It wont truely die, you will still have your occasional tournament, or you will have your local metagroup that still plays, but it will lose its support, and following.
This WILL happen eventually (maybe within 5 years?) Due to the fact that the prices on legacy staples will continue to rise due to the lack of cards, and the growth of the format. Also did you notice that the price increase on Legacy staples came around with the invention of the Mythic Rares? I remember trading a Jace, the Mind Sculptor for 2 Tundra, or a play set of Force of Wills... (and wasnt ripping people off, that was the price)
The only real solution, since Wizards will NOT break the reserved list, is to make cards that serve the same purpose as the cards on the reserved list that we need. Snow lands being the primary one. Or Dual lands that have a very small draw back.... or Legacy will have to allow proxies like most local vintage tournaments ...
They have announced over and over that they WILL NOT break the reserved list, due to the amount of law suits that would follow.
The thing to think about, Legacy is very expensive to break into, but the upkeep cost is way less expensive then Standard. With legacy once you have your 40 dual lands, and your majority of staples, you can build any new deck with only having to purchase a few cards.... with Standard you have to build $300+ decks every 6 months.
sorry that should have been anti-agro as my main goal... not control.
I was thinking with main deck engineered plague and night of souls betrayal id be able to shut down most creatures.
The ones that live through it i have black creature destruction and swords to plowshares.
I wanted to use him as an alternate win con to Jace. Main decking Wrath of God, the new white miracle, main deck engineered plague/night of souls betrayal. Basically completely shutting down creature decks. Then I have jace, and gideon as my kill.
I am trying to build an esper control deck, and I am wondering how realistic it is to main deck 2 copies of Gideon? Is he too slow? I dont see him being a dead card against the majority of the meta, that isnt the problem, its the 5 mana that bothers me.
I dont really have a deck list right now, just an idea... I want to try esper control with main deck creature hate as my primary focus, and then i can sideboard into anti combo....
I live in Schaumburg, anyone live near me?

I could use jace, and elspeth to mop up and win.
With a decent chance against control and combo, and a good sideboard against them?
