Unrequited emotion is a very troublesome business. It's a bit like a fever. You just have to suffer through it until you get over it. The sooner you see - really see, understand, and accept in your very bones - that like the Balrog you too shall not pass, the better.
That said, there's nothing wrong with having a hot friend whom you happen to find attractive, but whom you accept as unavailable and are happy to be just friends with.
It's all about being totally honest with yourself about the situation and about your own feelings.
Same goes with just about any guy who's unavailable, really. I've had to deal with a closetedish bi guy who's still hung up on a guy he's been crushing on for 5ish years now. I was super supportive of everything he went through and very understanding, but he ended up lying to me and then attempting to use me, so I nixed that. Trust me, don't be me OR that guy.

I am now the proud controller of a level 11 tauren druid. Level-wise he's pretty pathetic but still. Progress. Also, cat form is super-adorable. Bear form, meanwhile, to quote my playing partner "has entirely too much junk in the trunk."

Friendly advice; ignore the straight guy. Trust me, it never turns out well, and there are gay guys out there who are more awesome
It's not that much of a bad thing, except in that it prevents you from seeing any other part of him, which is a little bit annoying
