According to the coverage of PT Gatecrash Toby Elliot stated that there is a clause in the new missed rules that makes it so that you can not miss the trigger that returns Obzedat, Ghost Council to the battlefield.
I have read the IPG and I do not see what it is that makes that possible. Can anyone explain this ruling?
There was a point where if I bought the last event deck with Thragtusk in it at my LGS for MSRP opened it and then sold them the singles that I would have made money.
I am sure you can see why that would be bad for everyone.
All I know is that legacy without mental misstep is not a format I enjoy.
Now, after dumping my legacy deck I have an extra 2k I wasn't planning on having. So i'm not sure whether to be mad a WoTC for making a format un-enjoyable for me or thank them for the nice weekend me an my fiancee are about to have!
Bimmerbot I have to disagree with you on this. Word of Command says that you have to force the player to play the card, if the chosen card is a spell that means they have to cast it (601.1a Some effects still refer to “playing” a card. “Playing a card” means playing that card as a land or casting that card as a spell, whichever is appropriate).
Part of casting a spell is payng it's costs (601.2. To cast a spell is to take it from where it is (usually the hand), put it on the stack, and pay its costs...).
Word of command is telling the controlled player that they have to cast the spell if able which to me would mean that if they have the option to put the spell on the stack and pay it's cost that they must do so. I do not see anything in the rules that would support the ability to decide that because the mana isn't floating that the spell can not be cast.
Are they really having 12 nonbasic lands in the big set? Urgh... Oh well, hopefully most of them are good and will help spread the cost of the set around a bit.
Zendikar had 20 so it's not that big of a deal really.
it could fit in TEPS you would just have to tweak the mana base. It is already running white for Chant/Silence and this guy could take chants place. Just add tundra.
Don't get so hasty about the Sundial guys; you do realize it goes untap, upkeep, draw? They can just cast their instants during the beginning of their turn for the same effect as the end of your turn. Cast Brainstorm, then untap their lands.
Incorrect. No one gets priority during untap. The first opportunity you have to cast spells is upkeep.
Flashfreeze is likely back for another year, people seem to love that card.
I don't want mana leak to return, I'm sick of a standard where I have to worry about every single one of my spells getting countered if my opponent has 1U open. I'd prefer if they just printed some unplayable 4CC counter. That way blue completely gets hosed again, and no more blue decks will dominate the format. I got sick of playing against blue decks every single match, how am I supposed to be able to play a combo if I have to worry about a key piece getting countered?
And how am I supposed to play an aggro deck if I have to worry about some combo I cant disrupt? And how can I play control when all I have is awful permission spells?
To me chandra is very believable as she doesn't really break any convention other than no ultimate, which I can certainly see as feasible. But then her number says fake.
Garruk on the other hand just screams fake.
1) Name is grammatically incorrect
2) His only + ability is not always usable
3) 2 of his abilities are the same as cards that will be in standard with him until he would rotate
I know people have been saying "you can always use his + there will always be a creature when you play him" etc etc, but what happens if you drop him after a wrath effect? R&D always wants you to be able to use the +ability of a walker when you play them.
As far as my 3rd point I know there is nothing that says the abilities cant be all standard cards but it just seems like really bad design and redundancy. I would rather play Slime and Zenith than this Garruk and it makes him very uninteresting. If it is a real card it is a serious design failure.
For interested parties
"If the triggered ability is a delayed triggered ability
that changes the zone of an object, resolve it"
I have read the IPG and I do not see what it is that makes that possible. Can anyone explain this ruling?

The ruling is talked about at the 28:28 mark.

So we are going from a skill based 1 deck format to a luck based 1 deck format.
Seems poor.
