My 93-94 cube is sitting around $25,000 retail value as-is (although, the fact that it is 95% NM condition cards might boost that number). Basically any rare on the reserved list from the early sets went ballistic and now everything is spiking thanks to speculative buyouts. Even the CE cards shot waaaaaay up. I'm really considering whether or not the prices are going to tank or continue to blow up in the near future before I invest any money in these cards.

Side note: I started making this cube because about 5 years ago a co-worker was sick of selling MtG cards for his uncle who regularly trolled estate sales for items to flip. So he told me he had a stack of a few hundred mint condition Beta cards he wanted to sell me....for whatever price I wanted to offer. I gave him $200, immediately sold a few dupes for around $800 and build this cube with the rest...those cards are now probably worth around $15,000 in my cube. Insane luck.

I've been away from magic for about a year and in that time, prices have gone crazy. Thankfully, I bought all my duals and P9 and most of the tippy-top cards before things went crazy. That said, I still have a portion of cards to buy and I'm unsure as to whether or not I'll be pissing away my money on inflated card prices that will soon drop when the bubble pops or if it will be safe enough to buy and hold onto them (most are reserved list cards). My cube only goes up to The Dark and only includes Alpha, Beta, CE, The Dark, Antiquities, Legends, and Arabian Nights.

Anyone with a better pulse on the market have input?

Jokulhaups has been awesome for me. It's the red upheaval. That's of course a bit of an exaggeration, but the best thing is having someone laugh at Jokulhaups during the draft and then get demolished by it in play. This also happens with Death Cloud too, though that's a little harder to get together.

I suggested Jokulhaups months (maybe years?) ago and got laughed at. I'm SO glad someone is using it! hahah

Is it really that good? It's like a 2 Mana Awakening Zone without creature synergies, that also fixes colors, but is vulnerable to LD.
What it is is a 2 mana Awakening Zone that spits out Lotus Petals at instant speed that also has artifact and untap synergies. That would make it basically the best mana accel in enchantment form ever.

Yo dawg, I heard you liked mana ramping, so we put some mana ramp in your mana ramp. Honestly, that card is big mana's wet dream and would probably never ever ever see the light of day without a mana activation cost to get the lotus petal.

My wife and I both got badges for SDCC2017, I guess I'll be buying two of these.

Absolutely correct. I was just illustrating the concept and rules, not necessarily informing OP of strategy. But yes, I wholeheartedly agree.

That is correct. Whenever you tap something that says "Add {whatever} to your mana pool", that amount of mana of that specific color or colors is available for use immediately. In fact, it stays in your mana pool for use until the current step or phase ends. For example, you can add 10 mana all at once to your mana pool during your pre-combat main phase, summon one creature for 4 of that and then use some of the remaining 6 mana to cast a 3 mana sorcery. But if you go into your combat phase, unsused mana goes away (empties from your mana pool).

What are the chances I was in the middle of posting a 1/1 double striker for 1 when you posted this? Crazy.
