I've pulled two Tarmogoyfs from random Wal-mart packs. I only go to wal-mart when I visit family in Pennsylvania. Literally don't even know where one is in LA.
It's Man-o'-War with point of damage in Izzet...this would never be printed as worded. The only precedent for a 3CMC 2/2 w/ Unsummon is Man-o'-War and Aether Adept. Tacking on a ping might seem like a fair trade for adding a second and different color mana, but when you consider how many times this is a 2-for-1 or quasi-3-for-1, you realize how much that point of damage matters. This sort of design isn't impossible, but I think it needs to be narrowed down a bit:
Joltergeist 1UR
Creature - Spirit
When Joltergeist enters the battlefield, it deals 1 damage to target creature, then return that creature to its owner's hand.
2/2
You can snipe a shrimp or bounce something bigger, not both and no damage to the face. Even still this is an upgrade to Man-o'-War. I think the cube world would still be shocked to see this card printed. It is a hard card to balance. At CMC 4, it loses a lot of its appeal for cubing. At 5 with flying or some other ability, the 1 damage doesn't seem like enough, but bumping to 2 would bring us right back to the start.
I'm a bit torn on this. These accidents make Magic interesting, but I understand that it makes standard uninteresting. No idea how this will affect the game, but I'm excited to find out!
The economy of the decision is relative, I guess. But then again, those same 100 euro USeas in 2 years will be 150 euro Useas, so take it for what you will. If I had a pocketful of money to blow, I'd be hoarding CE/IE duals and power until the sun goes down.
If you've only read Jace quotes from the cards you'd think he's an insufferable too cool for school Gary Stu anime protagonist, like Ertai on steroids. But it turns out he's meant to be a mousy nerd pushover with low self esteem who'd get beat in a fistfight by a newborn kitten and is afraid of using his telekinesis to it's full potential.
One more example of WotC's split personality.
Wait wait wait. Don't go condemning WotC for this, because they're actually DEAD ON. How many neckbeards/serial killers/psychos fit that exact description? They're shrimpy, shy, socially awkward losers on the outside, but if you listen to their manifestos, forum posts, youtube comments, etc., you learn that they have these grandiose visions of how they think they really are. I think Jace is simply Magic's neckbeard planeswalker.
haha I mean, for the tactile reason only they wouldn't do it, but it is a regular thing with sports cards to get a piece of a jersey or something. Wouldn't surprise me though!
Saw this hot bit of info in a slip-up from Wizards to a major retailer:
Return to Modern Masters 2015
From the Vault: Homelands
Duel Decks: Kamigawa vs. The Dark
Commons Masters (MSRP $12/pk and returning to 8-card packs)
New card rarity being revealed: Ultra Foil (each Ultra Foil comes with a unique foiling process and a small tidbit of the original art affixed to the card)
That's pretty pushed. I think the 3 damage is unnecessary and unlikely to be printed. Getting Smash to Smithereens on a 2/1 body isn't likely to be a cut and paste type card design. Maybe something a little more reasonable would be to add haste or menace ala:
Maniac Vandal 2.0 2R
Creature - Human Berserker
Menace
When Panicked Vandal enters the battlefield, destroy target artifact.
2/1
Manian Vandal 2.1 2R
Creature - Human Berserker
Haste
When Panicked Vandal enters the battlefield, destroy target artifact.
2/1
I recently added Fallen Empires to my 93-94 cube so I didn't have to make such miserable concessions like playing Pearled Unicorn and Rukh Egg haha Only suggestion is to consider Fallen Empires/Homelands/Ice Age so the card options aren't so dismal.
As far as being on topic, to complete my 93/94 project, I'm going to be dipping heavily into CE/IE. I want the nostalgic feel and I don't necessarily want to pay $100 for Kudzu.
Joltergeist 1UR
Creature - Spirit

Maybe I should have worded it as "How much money do you have left to spend to bring your cube up to date"...
What about as a renowned trigger?
Frantic Vandal 2R
Creature - Human Warrior
Haste
Renown
When ~ becomes renowned, destroy target artifact.
2/1
Again, keeping it at least modestly attractive w/o an artifact target while still making you jump through a bit of a hoop for the destroy
