How's everyone finding Elspeth as opposed to Austere Command? I have been losing love. The command was just so much more versatile. Elspeth just isn't the answer I was hoping she would be.
Fair enough. It's always depressing when a new set is released. Mono-Red Commander decks don't seem to get as much love as they deserve. Conspiracy should hopefully have something powerful.
This deck is so much fun. I've been playing it online for months, and I have finally have it built in paper (I woould rather not get into the abhorrent things I had to do to find a near mint Gauntlet of Might), and it was just as much fun as I hoped it would be. Winning out of nowhere when you only have three tokens in play to immediately having a huge, murderous army will never get old. I have made a couple of meta changes. Due to a large number of artifact decks running around at my LGS I have decided to add a Tuktuk Scrapper. The only way I have found myself dying is to Sword of War and Peace and Sword of Fire and Ice, so I decided to add an easily tutorable answer. I also changed Starstorm to Blasphemous Act due to the large number of huge swarm decks running around. I found a cheap way of dealing with all their creatures was much more effective than having the instant speed, but infinitely more expensive cycler.
Thanks ISBPathfinder for this awesome list. It has granted me endless bouts of fun. I'd love to see how Twinflame goes, because I was also eyeing it out as a potentially epic spell.
This is not my first attempt at trying to make a good minotaur tribal deck for commander. I have had some success, and a lot of failure, but one thing I have always hoped for was an appropriate Minotaur legend to use as my commander to give me access to all the powerful black cards available in the format, mainly Patriarch's Bidding and Demonic Tutor. Mogis, God of Slaughter is obviously not a minotaur. He is, however, a God. Not just any God, but the Minotaur God! So flavorfully, he seemed to fit.
So, I present to you, Mogis and his Minotaur Horde!
I have tried to make this tribe into a more casual deck, and it leaves me sitting sad and demolished at my table when some more competitive players, but I originally decided to build this deck so I could enjoy playing with the more casual players at my store. So I chose to comprimise. The deck is inherintly casual, and I will play it as such, but I put a few more spikey into the deck to make the deck flow better and let me draw and cast the few Minotaurs that are actually worth playing.
I am a big fan of replacing the poor Primordial with Spirit of the Labyrinth, it's what I did immediately after I heard of the banning. I do like Terastodon as a card, but the utility of the spirit is desperately welcomed. Take that Nekusar.
I really like Spirit of the Labyrinth, especially in draw heavy metas. Almost everyone I play now seems to have a Nekusar, the Mindrazer deck, and even if a lot of them aren't very good, at least it makes life so much easier against a huge portion of the playing field.
I like Karametra, God of Harvests a lot. I don't think she fits in this deck, especially due to the lack of creatures to cast. If Genesis was still in she would be a lot better, but as it is I this the sidelines is the best bet for her. My favorite thing about her is that she's not Emmara Tandris, which puts her far ahead of the last member of the Legendary guild Cycle.
I think I might cut Tear's of Rage. Not because I don't like the card, but mainly because of how hard it is to play on MTGO. It also doesn't make Warp World any worse, which has quickly become my favorite win condition.
Commander 2013 isn't released online until 20th of December, but I am really looking forward to Tempt With Vengeance. It just seems so brutal in this deck.
Thanks again for this awesome Primer. I am really enjoying the deck. Keep it up
I've been playing this deck on MTGO. I have mostly had success, but have lost to Fog more times than I'd like to admit. I have really wanted find place for Blasphemous Act just because I have been dealing with a lot of creatures decks online recently, but otherwise I have been having a lot of fun. It's always good to see you opponents on -2938 Life because you attacked them to death without having to go infinite.
So which stompy green draw spell did you end up adding to the deck? I have always been a huge fan of Regal Force, but I know you used to be a big proponent of Skullmulcher.
I like your current cuts. I don't think you really need to add any of the sorcery ramp, but if you do need to add more ramp, Bloom Tender isn't too bad.
If you feel that more ramp is necessary, then these are pretty good options. I have liked how this deck has steered away from sorcery ramp, but the Nature's Lores are pretty strong.
Bloom Tender is a pretty nice card, and an Elf, so if you wanted another creature to accelerate your mana this is a good option. Also, I love Tithe in cube, so it can't be too bad in Commander.
All these options don't seem too bad. If you like Nature's Lore, there is always Skyshroud Claim as well.
These changes don't seem to raise the curve very much. Apart from the Fecundity change, every new card added had the same or less CMC than the card cut.
Especially now, losing Austere Command, having a massive board wipe to be able to deal with a lot of different permanents all at once, especially swarm decks , I definitely think O-Stone is pretty important.
I usually look a Genesis a solid method of recurring answers, usually Eternal Witness not fetch Replenish or Austere Command (Which is now Elspeth, Sun's Champion). When used in conjunction with a Sac. Outlet it turns into another catch-all.

What kind of ramp did you have in mind?
