OP - Thanks so much for streaming this. I have been looking to get into Modern and have chosen Martyr Proc to pilot, really nice to watch splash versions played. Good interaction with the stream-viewers as well.
Thank you, it really is my favorite deck to pilot. Also, I watch enough streams to know how I would be like to be interacted with as a viewer. So I try to treat my viewers how I would like to be treated if I were viewing. If that makes sense...
I have a new version of Martyr Proc to stream with. It splashes black. List is at the bottom. I am streaming some 2-man queues, because I missed the Daily. Link: http://www.justin.tv/casualfriday01
Sadly, 2-2, but I went 2-0 in 2 mans after that. Can I get your list again? I am going to move to a more control build with Figures and Students.
@Franzks, yeah that was one of my few misplays against that deck. If I blocked, I would not have had to fight so hard so stay above 30 life. Small misplays add up to bigger problems.
EDIT:
I will be streaming the Modern Daily at 10:00PM EST. Possibly with the switch to no tokens/honors.
Very true. I did mention that at the beginning I did not like some of my card choices. But the Daily started at 6, and I arrived at like 5:55. No time to make changes to the mana, though I did that now.
Yup, though I don't think he played that matchup well, either.
I'm unsure of what I could have done better. Besides going down to 1 less card than him, I feel like I did all I could. How do we ever lose this MU as long as we force them to deck themselves?
Against the enchantment deck, I would have lost. But in real life, I know to not fetch with Ranger or Squad Hawk so that we can both go inifinite, but he decks himself. I would have lost by 1 card, so next time I will just keep as many cards in my deck as possible. Considering I only need 1 proclamation and 1 Martyr to win that matchup, I'm fine with that.
I honestly have no idea how we are supposed to be Melira Pod. I can hope everything goes like game 2, where I disrupted him enough to aggro him out. Aven Mindsensor shuts down Pod AND Chord of Calling. Considering their only way to kill it is with a 1 of shriekmaw, Necrataal, and Redcap, we should win. Also, Torpor Orb shuts down all three of these removal spells. So sure, he can get a pridemage, kill orb, then kill mindsensor, but we are talking about a total of 5 cards in their deck at this point.
Yeah, my plays were a little loose. Or I just misunderstood my objectives sometimes. My opponents were really good at trying to kill Martyr when I had 1 mana up today. But I feel like I had to play somewhat well to 4-0. At least that last round I had to keep a level head.
I will record them so they'll be on my channel, but I don't think you can watch replays. If you know how to pull the replay files from the directory, I'll send them to you.
We went 3-1 again, searching for the elusive 4-0. I am going to be playing in the Modern Dailies at 11a and 6p tomorrow, streaming, so tune in. I'll post here tomorrow too. Ill also get to testing your other version, fnord.
