If all I can do is recommend him to a therapist, then that is what I'll do. I just hope he does take the initiative to do so, but if he does not than I suppose that is his choice.

I thank all of you for your advice. It is greatly appreciated.

I don't understand the purpose of the questions that only have three possible answers. Each possible result in that case is one of three colors, but what if one doesn't value any of those answers? Or rather why isn't there an additional two possible answers for the other two colors?

Additionally, not to sound harsh here, but this quiz isn't anything unique. A lot of the answers are obvious color type cast, meaning I know which answer is the red one, which one is the white ones, etc. Good color quizzes make it so that you can't know which answer is which color.

The 15 point distribution idea is definitely a nice touch though, far better than having to only select one option. Although I'm still not entirely sure how it works in regards to the answers; could you explain in more detail perhaps?

    Gnomes exist (in Magic)?

    . . . . .

Because doing so upsets the status-quo. Some people like the same **** every time and don't want nothing different. Those that make the **** don't want to meddle around with the established methods.

It's like McDonalds burgers; they keep the menu the same, people get what they expect. There's no disorder brought about by unnecessary change.

However, some of us like change. We get bored easily and want something new. So of course there's that conflict there between those that like things the conventional way verses those that want to experiment. How does one alleviate this problem? There's less of us than them, so is might make sense to have established methods, but slowly change things over time, carefully, so as to see what can and can't work.

Black trolls would be awesome. Next tribal themed set, make black/green trolls with greater emphasis in black. Make black (and red) pirates, because flavor wise pirates make sense in the Grixis colors. Or just call theme rogues. Wolves and spiders? Print a few in the next base set and see how people react. Print another blue dragon, or maybe even a white or green one. Doesn't have to be a lot, just a little here and there to spice things up. Change things slowly over time.

Or make another Planar Chaos set.

I told him that I didn't really have the asnwers that he needed and that a therapist would be his best option. But he has a negative opinion regarding therapists IIRC, and he seems phobic to the idea of possibly taking anti-depressant meds.

I had wondered if there was some sort of knowledge source that maight have inspired him to take a different outlook on life, but I wasn't sure if such a solution like that existed.

Although if professional help is what he truly needs, then the best I can do is recommend that to him. Whether he listens to that adivce is up to hime I suppose.

Also, would it be wrong to tell him that maybe he's just being a baby about life and needs to grow a pair? Not that I would say that, just a thought.

So I've got this friend that I work with who seems like he could some help. I wa talking with him the night before and he doesn't have any hope in his life at all.

He doesn't feeel that anything he does will ever amount to anything and that life is preety much worthless. He's not content with his life now, doesn't like his past, and doesn't think that any god can come in the future. He also gets caught in a vicious cycle where he feels resentment over the current status of his life, but then feels that he has no power to change that, and thus doesn't try to advance himself. His whole current view on life is very nihilistic.

I'm not sure what advice I could recommend for him. Does anyone have an ideas?

    Thanks.

    How unfortunate.

Related question: tokens still technically die and hit the graveyard before they vanish, correct?

So I have to wonder, what would a Gruul+Boros be exactly? For that matter, what is the result of other paired colo sharing guilds?

Part of me can't really decide. I value having freedom to do what I want without having to answer a superior, and I despise hierarchy and the status-quo. In that regard, the Gruul would seem like the best option. I don't mind roughing outdoors that much, although I would hate to see the beautiful architecture that is Ravnica's cityscape to be obliterated to dust. Now wilderness intertwined with building structures that would be cool. If I went Gruul I would probably join the Slizt clan. Stealth fighting and secure advantage within the confines of ancient structures sounds up my alley. Granted I have nothing against picking a fight with someone who angers me, or harms my loved ones.

But at the same time, I don't like the idea of innocent people getting killed by barbarians. In fact if I saw anything of that sort, I'd kill those barbarians, or at least try to stop them. I do have a personal code of ethics, a sense of honor and justice. But I utterly hate the law. Or at least the laws that I don't agree with. I could see myself being in the Boros as a vigilante who enforces his own justice and wrath upon the deserving. Plus I'm usually a civil guy and protective of my friends, and anyone else I consider to be innocent.

I'd totally go Gruul. I love the feeling of sleeping outdoors and love me some adorable animals. My pet Maaka and I would go rambling across the Rubblebelt for hours with me yelling out, "Sorry he thinks he's people! HAHAHAHA" everytime we run into (over) someone.

Plus in terms of ladies I think splitting my time between Disciple of the old ways and Burning Tree Em would be a good way to live Wink

On second thought, **** yeah Gruul Clans!

If I have Mikaeus, the Unhallowed in and non-human token creatures in play, will the undying effect of Mikaeus bring the tokens back, or do they simply vanish the first time they die?

I feel like a noob for asking this, but I honestly don't know.

I still see a few here and there at my Wal-Mart and target. You just got to be vigilant with your local areas, or call in and ask when they might get them in stock.

I find it sad though, that us EDH players have to scrounge tooth and nail at big box stores just to get the product at its just price. Seeing all these other card shops selling the decks for 40, 50, 60, or 70 dollars is just . . . the worse really. Actually it's a bad example of one thing that wrong with Magic; the economic value.

Update: after doing some research, it was probably just breakout bleeding as a result of the pill (she actually took it several hours before we had sex). Her mother had said that the bleeding was normal, however she's going to go see her doctor about it soon to make sure it's not anything serious.

I need some advice for my girlfriend whose currently experiencing some potentially worrisome symptoms.

We're both very sexually active with each, so naturally once she had enough money she went to the doctor to get birth control. While there they did a pregnancy test, and it came back negative. Fast-forward a couple days later: she started the birth control this morning, even though her doctor had said to wait a week. However she has had birth control in the past, and that she had taken it well before her period without any negative side effects. So she took the first pill this morning, then we had sex. But about less than half an hour later, she was bleeding a bit. Some more spotting occurred later as well, and then she began experiencing pains down there. Also, her period isn't due to began for at least another 10 days.

She called her mom, who said that is was a normal reaction to the birth control. It could also be possible that I hit her cervix too hard during intercourse. However neither of us are entirely sure, so I wanted to get some more information that could help us figure out exactly what's wrong.

Any and all advise would be welcome. Thank you.

  • posted a message on [[DD]] [JVV] Duel Decks: Jace v Vraska
    Wow this thread . . .

I like Jace's art. I like that he looks like an actual human being and not some anime character. It's not perfect, but it's good for how it represents him. He's a politician, the fact that he's pudgy and isn't using over-the-top magic is fine. It's realistic. I like realism (even in fantasy settings).

I think that it could even set the tone for a good short story about the conflict between Jace and Vraska. A battle of scheming and wits between two very different people with understandable motivations and goals. The story could focus on both their point of views, the methods that they use to ensure their victory, and perhaps how each one perceives the other. Jace knows better than to confront a gorgon head on, and Vraska is someone who works in the shadows. Their finale battle could be something were they fight, but not directly. Instead maybe have a cat-and-mouse game in the dark sewers, each using tricks until they can carefully corner the other. Could make for a good read.

Or we could have them stand in epic poses while they fire lightning bolts out their rear ends. Because the important aspect of story flavor isn't emotional attachment, profound themes, or the rich detail of a world that compliments the unique characters within it; it's just mindless epic battles.

Also, I would love to see a live action adaption of Jace vs. Vraska story with Mads Mikkelsen as Jace. That would be nice.

I'm not thrilled by JAOT or Vraska as cards, since I already own theme for EDH, but having alternate art work is always nice. I would love if FOW was reprinted, but I get the feeling that that probably won't happen. But speculation at this point . . . seems pointless.

When I was reading through the card list for Devotion to Darkness, I thought "wow, safe for a few cards, most of these aren't good at all". Then I read the deck list for Dark Devotion. I didn't even finish reading through that list because my eyes started profusely bleeding halfway through.

Sadly the Dark Devotion is sooooooooo much better when it comes to flavor, and . . . yeah that's really the only good thing I can say about it.

The idea of having no cards in hand as an optimal state is just mind-boggling.

That's the point; it's suppose to be "insanity". It's an all-or-nothing strategy that yields high risk and high reward. It fits the aggressive play style of the Rakdos better.
