I recently cut Gilded Drake which was a pet card in my 450. The decreased number of decks playing fatties and increasing number of ETB creatures (there's little point trading a 2-drop with a 5-drop if the latter card is only a 2/2 with deathtouch) meant that it was hard to reliably get value from it.
I also cut the drake after only a few weeks. I found it was often better than what I was able to swap it for.
Swapped out Delver of Secrets, added Looter il-Kor.
Delver wasn't doing much for us and I don't really support a blue aggro or tempo deck. I noticed a lot of lists using Looter so I figured I'd give it a try.
I know this was debated to death but now that people have had the cards for a while maybe there's more data. I need to make a cut for Kalonian Hydra. Choices are Genesis, Vorapede or Primeval Titan. I'm leaning toward the Titan but I still feel like that may be wrong.
I was thinking of making a cube of all cards from the Ravnica plane.
So that would be one of each card from Ravnica block, and one of each card from R2R block.
The exceptions would be lands, where I would include 2+ of each land for mana fixing.
Thoughts?
Stupid idea?, wouldnt work?, sounds like fun?, to big card pool?
I have a friend who runs a Ravnica block cube. It is a lot of fun to play. The major issue that came up was that it is a very heavy gold set. It is near impossible to draft a 2 color deck. His original version was light on fixing which made things difficult. He had to go outside the block and include ABU duals, Buddy lands and Scars fast lands. Afterwards the drafts were much smoother and easier to play.
The weird thing is that I seem to be in the minority here. There are so many Beta lovers in the cube forum. I simply picked your comment as an example for their position. My little rant was not in any way directed against you. It was just a general expression of my puzzlement over this matter.
I didn't take offense, I was also just trying to point out that everyone has their own distinct likes and dislikes for cards. In reality I don't really understand the point of this entire thread. 100 people could all agree on which particular art they prefer and everyone is still going to pick the version they like. At least I hope that is the case. Play what looks right to you, not the masses.

I never understood this and I understand it even less since it was pointed out to me that Beta (and Alpha) cards don't even have proper black borders. So, not only are Beta cards old frame and their text boxes are an absolute mess (even simple effects have weird wordings), but they also have the ugliest borders in the whole game? No thanks.
That's why I said personally. You don't have to understand it. To each his own.
By the way, for the Dark Ritual I prefer the Beta.
Small update today. Swapped Abrupt Decay for Varolz, the Scar-Striped.
Not sure if it's a good change or not but after playing Varolz in a buddy's cube I wanted to give it a try. I feel like Golgari has some redundancy with Decay, Deed and Pulse so Decay may not be missed. I also feel like adding a hard to kill sac outlet is never a bad thing. Ultimately it may switch back but I want to give it a few drafts first.

I think the Captain although I'd cut any of the three before Imposing Sovereign. That card has been great for us.

Thats a pretty sick pool
Very nice work.
