The Emrakul Iona Stormtide package is strictly better IMHO. It is cool though don't get me wrong. Should be MB and then frees up a few sb slots

I will keep saying it as often as I have to,

The fattie package doesn't win games instantly. It leaves you vulnerable to a wipe spell the next turn. The Wurmsaphant bomb wins the game on the spot, that's why we rock it Wink

no... in a deck like this dropping to 2 of the win condition would be stupid it is an auto 4 of

Yeeeaaaah... Why in the name of god would you want less Mass Polys? That's just silly.

EDIT: Just thought of something. Opponents may get smart game 2 and just kill off your tokens so you can never MP for more than 1. This could be problematic, since there are really only 12 ways for this deck to make creatures, and only one of them continually makes creatures. Drawing multiples of these 12 isn't hard since there's so much card draw, but things can get dicey if your opponent plays smart and is able to pressure you significantly while killing off your tokens.

That's the reason why I put Gelatinous Genesis as a one-of. Post wipes, it spawns 2-3 tokens at once, and not just any tokens, tokens that pretty much need a Bolt to kill them. Assuming you've got a Spawning Ground or two, you'll get the 3-4 tokens you need next turn guaranteed.

    Quote from Count
I think this absolutely a deck that should run 4 Halimar Depths. With >=8 fetchland and Growth Spasm it really helps you quickly sort through the deck and helps avoid drawing the creatures.

I'm a big fan of Halimar, but I'm not a huge fan of having 8 lands that come in to play tapped. I find it really slows down your early game a lot of the time if you keep running into them. I've got them as a two-of at the moment, and I find that's a good number.

So I feel like this is the strongest build so far. With that though, I have to question how strong you feel spell pierce is in the side? I always waver as to whether or not it's good, and I never can really put my finger on if it needs inclusion or not. Not really a strong suggestion, I know, but I do feel like it's your weakest SB slot. Food for thought.

    Great build though. =)

    Edit:
Also, ya, I totally support the inclusion of fog. Not only that, but you can get beta fogs for like, a dollar?! Pimpness!

Exactly! Fog saves our ass against K-red, which is a common threat, and which against whom we litterally almost will always get stomped sans fog.

    Quote from Count
    1) I think the Blightsteel could be an Iona.
    2) I don't think you ever want to side in Fog.
    3) I would add 2 more fetchland (any kind will do) instead of 2 basic land.

Other than that, this seems like the best build to me.

    1) I agree. Blightsteel is cool, but Iona is just a better morph then a Blightsteel.
    2) I think you're wrong Grin Fog saves us against aggro of all kind, dredgevine, K-red... Hell, even a fast starting Caw-Blade.
    3) Why? All you're doing is increasing the cost of the deck for a two in twenty-five chance at drawing into land that will help you manafix, when really we've got enough scry, draw, and ramp to make it so we really don't need two superflous fetches.

    Quote from Count
Seems to me it only delays and eats up valuable card slots that could be getting you closer to going off. I guess it does work well with Awakening Zone though.

Its a pity there isn't a good other way to slow down aggro in U/G, especially when creature cards are ruled out.

That's litterally why it's in here. To delay that one extra turn is often more then enough to turn a loss into a win Smile

    Thanks guys Grin

I'm quite pleased with myself, haha. I actually also was pretty surprised to actually see my name listed there. And not just once, but like, six times. Huzzah for recognition!

Now, I'm sure this question has been asked plenty of times; Who will be the new Father of Machines? Obviously people have been thinking about Karn, and potentially even Tezzeret, but I have a new thought...

    What if it's Venser?

He's already shown the same kind of fascination over Phyrexian artifice that eventually lead Urza to his end, grew up and lived in what was essentially a Phyrexian junkyard, and was using Phyrexian tech to make new inventions just before he was Koth-napped and brought to Mirrodin.

He's an artificer, so he's already got an inclination towards machines of all kind, he's ambitious, driven, and has a planeswalkers spark, is a hero of sorts from time past, has ties to Karn...

I dunno. If I were working on the MTG storyline, Venser would be a pretty tempting choice to make into the new Father of Machines.

    Thoughts?

After some playtesting, the Shape Anew sideboard is working pretty well. I obviously only do it when I see I need it, but it's been helping against matches that would obviously end poorly. However, I think I'm gonna up the count of Blightsteel's to two.

I had one get exiled by an esper control deck, and I was not pleased.

LOLaphant. You know I really like saying the deck's name out loud. LOLaphant.

I'm thinking of running a transformational sideboard for my version, into a Shape Anew -> Colossus thing. Something like this:

    4 Shape Anew
    4 Trinket Mage
    4 Overgrown Battlement
    1 Blightsteel Colossus
    1 Darksteel Axe
    1 Treasure Mage

EDIT: I also think I'll be running some Inkmoth Nexus (Nexuses? Nexii?) in the maindeck to help the SB plan and maybe to poke against control decks, to commit them into tapping some mana and possibly opening the way into the Polymorph. I'm not sure if this will negatively affect the manabase's colors though.

I like the idea of sideboarding in a whole other win condition. It keeps with the theme of 'OHGODWTFJUSTHAPPENEDTOME' that I'm trying to keep around, haha.

Also, the problem I have with Inkmoth is that while he provides a chump blocker and potential morph target, he costs mana. We want to be able to go off ASAP, and Inkmoth-ing makes our winning turn require 7 mana instead of 6.

Then again, if you can't go off immediately, you'll know that you'll have at least one token who probaly won't get taken down from a wipe or board hate.

It's a toss up :p I'll have to playtest with and without him.

FNM foils are nice. It's funny that you think that ANY polymorph deck has a chance at something of a grander scale. You pretty much just pointed out all the weaknesses of every Polymorph based deck.

    This.

If you don't like the deck idea, that's fine, but this thread is to promote dropping Wurmsaphant bombs on peoples faces.

I don't think any of us expect to get far with this deck, but so far at least three of us have won FNM foils, myself included, so please don't just show up, tell us that we fail without Jace 2, then drop an Eldrazi deck list on us and expect us to convert to your way of thinking.

We're having fun, dude, don't kill our buzz Grin

I've actually got a deck in the Standard Deck section working with this combo. The rulings work the same way as been answered above. The thing to remember if your opponent asks is to make sure he knows the ETB triggers happen at the same time Grin

The original deck has pretty drastic flaws that keep it from being competitive is what I am trying to say. By making active strides to fix these problems by altering cards RE: The main combo, you can have a deck that helps minimize the flaws while continuing to hold its value.

The deck actually has a good engine here but it can be improved. If the deck is to be nothing more than a casual fnm deck then that's fine as it is. On the other hand, if this deck is to become competitive it needs to drop the cute and focus on what it does best. Gotta call a spade a spade.

If you want I can help you pinpoint the glaring weaknesses. I attempted to solve several of them in my version but it isn't elephanty enough for you Smile

Your deck isn't this deck, though.

And like I said, we don't want to win the turn after. We want to win WHEN we cast Mass Polymorph.

Your deck is just some polymorph deck.

Again, and I'm gonna keep saying it as many times as I have to, the point of this deck is to win right away, not to win eventually, not to win next turn, not to win three turns from now with a lockdown.

I mean, I really appreciate the comments and the feedback, but seriously, the point of this deck is the Massacre Wurm + Terrastodon combo.

Please stop posting decklists that involve other packages, because those are just polymoprh decks, and not Lolaphant decks.

Now, about Autumn's Veil going into the mainboard...

I agree, but that's really dependant on your meta. I don't even have my manaleaks mainboarded right now because honestly, I don't need them in my meta. The decks I run into either want to win turn 3 or turn 15, and I can race against speed decks and beat the crap out of other decks easy without needing manaleak.

Just me, but it seems like the proper creature ratio would actually be three Terastodon and two Massacre Wurm making the proper polymorph number 5. This number should be easily attainable with all the token production.

The problem with going 3 terrastodons and two wurms is that should you only have 4 morph targets, you can potentially end up with 3 Terrastodons and 1 massacre wurm, which would accomplish nothing, because one wurm can't kill 3/3's.

    Quote from Argetlam
honestly, I would just go for the big three package.
    1. emrakul
    2. iona
    3 stormtide leviathan

    Now, 1) you're gonna win 2) they can't play stuff 3) they can't attack.

That's a very good situation to be in.

Now, about the fat package of Iona, Emrakul and Stormtide...

See, that's all well and good, but it doesn't WIN the game. If you wanna WIN like Charlie Sheen WINS, you need to WIN right away. Morphing into two wurms and two terrastodons WINS games, because you do enough direct damage to WIN right away. And what would you rather, WINNING right away, or potentially WINNING on your next turn, while still leaving yourself vulnerable to some come-from-behind nonsense of your opponents?

Hell, a couple tumble magnets would stop you from winning with the fattie package. Cheap removal spells would make it a waste all together =P.

The reason, and I can't stress this enough, we don't rock the fattie package is that we, the Church of Sheen, just want to WIN.

    Quote from briandabomb
I absoloutely LOVE THE DECK!!! Only thing is that i'm a bit uncomfortable with playing Massacre Worm when I can't play it without using Mass Polymorph.

In that case, I suggest knocking whichever spells you find least useful down to a 3-of (Garruk for one, then whichever your meta demands less for the others) and including a couple of Prophetic Prisms. It's cheap draw power, plus mana cycling, which will allow you to hardcast the Wurm if you really need to.

I really don't recommend doing that, but its totally up to you.

    Quote from The0wnr
Oh....my....jizzles!!! This deck looks SWEET!!!! and besides the sac-lands, it looks budget-friendly too!!! I wanna build it just to have it!! Nice idea

YOU KEEP YOUR JIZZLES AWAY FROM MY DECK.

    PERVERT.

But other then that, yes, it's definitely budget friendly Grin

The Fogs and the Mana Leaks. Didn't help much, though >_< Gotta add some artifact removal into the sideboard.
