@Zuko, yeah man you fell off the face of the planet. Also 2014 really destroyed this thread.

Truuuuth. Felt so boring. From what I remember anyway. Pinata and that was like it. haha

sorry for bumping an old thread but I'm a metalhead (mostly thrash and death metal) looking for some rap/hip hop to get into

so far I can enjoy Kendrick, 2 Chainz and Asap Rocky plus some old school stuff like 2pac and Snoop Dogg

    recommend me some more music

What year is it? (have not been on these forums in aaaaages)
Just came by to check out some casual stuff and figured I'd check on this old thread. haha

I don't think you can wrong with my Holy Trinity; MF DOOM, Wu-Tang, and Flying Lotus/Captain Murphy.
Other classics if you haven't heard yet; Notorious BIG, Tribe Called Quest, J Dilla, Madlib/Quasimoto, Run the Jewels.

I've been listening to a lot of metal lately as well (equal parts metal and hiphop head haha), so that's what I got off the top right now.

    "STN MTN/KAUAI

Ah yeah I grabbed that. Only gave it one listen so far though, it was good too. Is there an official date for Kauai? Rocky has a new album coming too, I didn't catch a date though. He did just release a video for Multiply which was nice.

You can stream You're Dead! from FlyLo's site today!

Albums have to come out...eventually, right? I liked Pinata way more listening to it today than the first time I did. I found it to be a surprisingly involved listen, given the overall sound seems really inviting in an old school kind of way.

Truth. When it first dropped I was a fan ya know, but not flipping out on it. After these few days of re-listening to it, it's just such a fantastic project.

Also Underachievers drops a new album on the 12th. Here's their sample vid of the whole album.

Holy *****, been forever since I've been around. For good reason, there's not ***** coming out lately....

Shabazz Palaces was a good listen.

Been re-listening to Pinata and Kismet (eXquire released an alternate version called Kismet Blue at some point, not sure when. Has more tracks and a lot of tracks of him talking about some songs before they play. It's good)

    Dope, thanks for the link.
And what the **** did I just watch??? hahah That was really weird. And that's not even the weirdest Japanese commercial I've seen, but that one irked me. haha

Ah yeah Fantano was just talking about Sisyphus. Didn't sound like something I'd be into, but I'll check it out.

    Hood Pope savin chillren.

I feel you on the "real" hiphop releases. But it's still early. MadGibbs is dope as hell though. Not just saying that because of blind Madlib fanboyism either, ***** is legit.

Feel you on Ratking too. I love that single, but nothing else really stood out too much. Yet anyway.
SZA is dope, but not my cup of tea. But still respect.

Chance has been releasing singles?? Why haven't I heard of this? haha

I was jaded on Cudi after the release of Man on the Moon 1... Was hard in A Kid Named Cudi. That's it.

I've been getting deep into Japanese hiphop lately. haha ShakkaZombie, SD Junksta, Juswanna especially. (dont have to say Nujabes)

Edit: Just found out about this dude. He's also releasing something with Doom some time this year.
