Monkey D Luffy posted a message on [SCD] Squee, Goblin NabobI'll probably play 1 more masticore at 450. At 360, though, molten tail is the only one worth running. And well, it's close to staple, if not a staple.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion -

What I want to do now that I know it triggers each upkeep is throw all those snakes at my opponent with Goblin Bombardment or Blasting Station. Yay, fun times!
I've actually thought long and hard about Mortarpod. More expensive to use but tapping is for wussies.
And for everyone thinking of adding in more ways to kill their own creatures. Please add Abyssal Persecutor he misses you. -

BetweenWalls posted a message on Getting tired of Magic, how about you?Magic's high prices prevented me from ever seriously considering the traditional 60-card competitive formats. (Vintage, Legacy, Modern, Standard) The only format that I can really compete fairly in is Pauper, but I've found singleton formats to have a much more interesting dynamic. Gaming isn't nearly as stale, (seeing the same cards over and over) and deckbuilding is also more interesting. Commander is the only majorly popular singleton-constructed format, so I of course play that. Otherwise, I've had a lot of fun with custom-made limited environments and big-stack variants such as Cube and Danger Room. I'm not tired of raising prices. I ignore them and play formats that don't need (or want) the expensive stuff. High quality proxies allow me to use the occasional card that's outside my budget, too.Posted in: Opinions & Polls
Your poll doesn't have a choice that fits this, so I thought I'd share. -

bLatch posted a message on Should cities be allowed to ban businessesPosted in: DebateQuote from Cyan
However, it is worth noting that city governments have been 'deciding' which businesses should be in their respective cities for quite awhile. So even if the mayor of Boston does decide not to allow a Chick Fil A to build there, it won't be anything unprecedented.
This isn't quite accurate. City governments have been deciding what types of business should be in their respective cities for quite a while. Not what specific businesses.
Trust me, there is absolutely no way a city government could bad chic-fill-a and not other fast food restaurants and have it pass legal muster. Especially if they state explicitly that its because of the political views and actions of chic-fill-a

I reject the idea that their marriage undermines mine; I actually feel the opposite. The notion that reality TV marriages hold more validity than marriage between two genuinely loving individuals bothers me. I want to be taking part in a social bond extended to all loving couples, not one artificially limited to my benefit.
Marriage also carries a specific definition and "romantic coupling between two consenting individuals" isn't, and hasn't ever been, that definition. The point being that its great, and I appreciate that you want to participate in a social bond that extended to all loving couples... but thats not what "marriage" is. I'm saying such unions shouldn't be recognized -- or even that they shouldn't have the exact same legal benefits. I'm saying the union between two men isn't a "marriage" anymore than a bus is a car. They share many similarities both in function and form, and if we want to confer benefits to both we should use a term that covers both. If only there was some term that could confer civil benefits on a union between any two people.
Yes, I think the "benefits" legally conferred by marriage should be changed to being provided to any civil unions. Then, the government should stop recognizing a difference except where its legally necessary (biological parent issues is about all I can come up with where it would be necessary). -

Side note, Sacred Fire Grandmaster was also in my opponents deck and was a grizzly bear with lifelink the only time he was played.

How it works:
1) Each player receives 2 fifteen card boosters, and opens them like a mini sealed pool.
2) Winston draft as usual.
It seems like a small change but having 30 cards in your pool pre-Winston really changed how we drafted by giving each player a trajectory from the start. We found that the power level of our Mod Winston decks was much higher than when drafted vanilla Winston. It also stretched us as deckbuilders by pushing us in directions we wouldn't normally have tried. I don't know if this warrants a separate entry in your genealogy of drafting, but it worked quite well for us for hundreds of matches.

If I understand correctly, Colbycube, you came up with the idea, and wtwlf, you refined it. I thank you both.

I agree with Wildfire except that I'd put War-Name Aspirant right behind Borderland Marauder. The upside of being able to swing through tokens and walls has been more relevant than I thought it would be. She's an Elspeth killer! I also think Ash Zealot is objectively the most powerful card of the group. While the RR cost is somewhat prohibitive, if it is the only red 2 drop in your cube that is CC you will be fine. I like having a couple CC two drops available in each color, if the card is powerful enough, to reward people for going heavy in one color. It's going to be a long time before I cut the Zealot from my cube.
