Man, seeing this news and read this thread makes me sad. I have always felt cheated and sad about the times I had played him at the lgs when cawblade was out and I had my own brewwed deck that was able to take on the top 3 decks and just race with valakut. Both tournaments in which I had to play against him in the top 8 I had lost due to his cheating. I knew he cheated too because it happened everytime and it would never happen before. I would never get lands suddenly and the lst time i ever played him, all the cards in my deck that had the same name were all bunched up together. I literally drew 4 student of warfares and 3 knight exemplars (guess he got mad cocky at that point after so many times). I was never able to really call a judge because 1) i didnt have solid evidence against him to show how he was cheating, 2) he had a group of friends there and knew the people since he frequented there more than me and I only had one friend with me, 3) there was no real judge over looking the events, 4) it was a situation I never came across before and didn't know what I should really do either time.

Wish I could get those games back. Those were the game losses that discouraged me from getting into bigger standard tournaments. Now to see my suspicions come to light and to see him finally get his just punishment is good but at the same time hurts to see it come so late and after it had done its damage to me.

i was hoping for either demonic bargain, double down, or consuming contract. all the cards I was hoping for got eliminated right away. and I think they may cost this card at 3 or 4 and make it mythic.

This is the current build I am using and it is working pretty awesome. Many times I will get off a turn 3 kill with the nexus. Fauna shaman is a must since you can pitch cards more efficiently and the deck becomes a fluid toolbox, spellskite is another must to slow down aggro and prevent your fatty from death. Vault skirge is a quick drop creature that could net you tons of life. Even birds of paradise can become a huge danger to your opponent out of nowhere.

other cards I was considering were: Blood Artist , Tombstalker, and spoils of the vault (they didn't make the cut ofcourse), Rancor, and Dying Wish

Lyzolda and Savra are dead, and the rest were story-unrelated and often uninteresting characters that I can hardly imagine to be reprinted for any reason.

    Savra got arrested. not killed.

Some player's like to draw cards and put them into their hand pretty fast, quick move of your cards can easily make an opponent lose track of what you drew.

Its too bad that they missed the opportunity to use the miracle mechanic at that time then Smile

  • posted a message on What's the best way to playtest a deck by yourself?
I find that if you are an aggro deck in standard, when you solitare, try to deal 20 damage in 5 turns. If you cannot consistently do that, the deck isnt good enough.
if its legacy...prob 4 turns or less.

other then that, its best to just play other decks n stuff. I usually will pilot both decks and play as if i didnt know the others hand, or just grab a friend who i know will be hard to beat.

By killing them to death in horrific ways, so they rise as ghosts? Didn't you watch American Horror Story last year?

Anyway, this makes me sad I'm probably not going to make it to the DKA pre-release.

Wow jerk! not all of us finished watching the show. use spoilers next time. I just started.

But i think its really fun. It adds a cool survival mini game to it and who doesnt like extra prizes?

for everyone saying how nuts the cage is: it easily gets hated out by removal itself. and dredge does have sideboarded answers to this as does reanimator (reanimator has more). think of this, would you want to play an artifact that doesnt allow them to bring things back from their graveyard while its in play, so they then bounce or destroy it and continue on their way because they were still allowed to set up and put things in their graveyard? or would you just get rid of their graveyard entirely with a tormods crypt, relic of progenitus, nihil spellbomb, ect. so they have to start all over again and cant work around the graveyard hate you just did?

I dont think its that bad at all. We still get to dump to the grave, rather than exile. We still have the show and tell plan, and we already run instant speed bounce that will send it back to the hand when we're ready to go off. Leyline is still way more frightening on turn 0. This hurts dredge a lot more than us in my opinion.

yeah, more ive been thinking about it, the more i realize you guys are right. I would even have this in my zoo sideboard. nihil spellbomb, tormods crypt, ect. are more permanent solutions that have us start over. this just takes a bounce, counter, or many other things. thanks

Thalia is pretty irrelevant being LEGENDARY and having ONE TOUGHNESS. How can people be excited about her in standard? Wring flesh, Virulent Wound, Gutshot, Geistflame are all being played right now.

have fun playing 2 mana for those spells to get rid of her and...oh...what was that? there are things called modern and legacy? I got the message

no joke, in a good build of burning vengance, dream twist isnt that bad. its a cheap flashback to use for burn with the enchantment out and it is essentially a draw 1-3 card. ive been trying it out for fun recently and it took me by surprise.

i just like the fact that you can be on tempo, crack one of your fetch lands, and before it resolves you use this guys ability and get an extra land into your hand and then your fetch land gives you your land onto the field. Although wayfarer hasnt done so well in my landfall decks since he turns out to be a bit more of a long term plan in a deck that wants to win asap.
