    Its a fun card and should be played in every limited deck. Of course I wouldn't make it my first pick in draft but its a fun card and can't hurt. Besides its a spirit, you might be able to do something with that. You are never going to make an effective combo with it. Yes some lame combos work like avalancher, raider, crucible and azusa but I would rather toss the two akkis and use seismic assault instead but I wouldn't bother playing either. Rather try use the spirit side of it opposed to a free 1/1. But I won't deny its a fun card.

    Updated the cards to preffered format. The ninjas ability isn't that great thats why I gave it a good ninjutsu cost. Ancient Kumo was merely an improved spirit version of Hundroog which was just plain bad this is actually playable in limited.

    Thanks PJ, I did mean from graveyard to hand but I was looking to make something playable (in limited at least) that had defender but I must say that that is a very cool script thank you very much! Remember that in this set, there is no reanimation (or very little) which makes this potentially fun, but I really only gave it the abilities to match the name. You know like the filth keeps replenishing itself. Anyway I was considering making Keen Sentry (which I think I should change the name to Keen-Eyed sentry) 2 mana but the reason I didn't make him strong but rather give him bushido is because he is no really meant to attack only block otherwise he would be a bit too powerful. Naganov thanks for the Hack and Slash varient I can see this is a much more effective version except that the entwine must be 2 mana it cant be :1mana::symr: otherwise it is like casting kiki jiki...not gonna happen.Besides that I don't wanna give them another pyroclasm which would devestate many people. I would rather make it so unless you are really desperate you will effectively want to cast itwith entwine but I don't deny that your version is much more playable except the entwine should be colourless only. You would have mana trouble and I don't want the non-entwined varient to be too easy to cast. I was considering pumping up the kumo put it would be a limited bomb if I did, and I want to stay away from making any bombs for now. Remember I am trying to create cards that realistically WoTC would consider printing not stuff we would like to see.

    barter in blood comes to mind, as does the black shoal.
    though this might be the best use of twwt i've seen so far.
    tnnt can shoot out the mana pretty quickly with urzatron...
    still, i think it's pretty much :puke: in t2.

    -aNia_

    Why bother using twwt when you can just usse the angel with greaves on the abunas.

    Umm... Excuse me but didn't anyone read the whole card. It can put a counter everything but itself therefore it is exposed which means this doesn't work. Otherwise it would be broken. Why you ask? Oxidize, echoing ruin, shatter, shaman, demolish, rain of rust, tel-jilad justice, splinter, crystal witness, glissa, molder slug, creeping mold, deconstruct detonate, dismantle, scrapper, hearth kami, goblin replica, naturalize, purge, wear away, zealot, rustmouth ogre, krark-clan engineers, goblin archaeologist, annul, Altars light, icy manipulator, even rebuking ceremony. Thats why you dont play it.

    Alright, I don't see the logic behind that argument. How would Blazing Shoal help you when someone is playing Tooth and Nail? Obviously you don't have a red card in your hand with CMC 7, and even if you did, what are you going to do? Pump his creature after it comes into play?

    No. You would play them in different decks. For example you attack with a 3/3 slith firewalker and you shoal him with arc-slogger, ouch, thats eight to the head making the firewalker a 4/4. For the blue one, it is a better and worse version of Hisoka and personally I wouldn't even debate playing either of them. The red shoal however, might find itself played in decks like big red (attack with a slooger, shoal him using another one, furnace of rath in play and you slog him once, thats 20) but I doubt it because of the card disadvantage but you never know. Maybe there is an effectively "big red deck" card that is big and red but also expendable.

    If you guys are playing daze then you can run a couple foils. (provided that you have sufficient cards in the deck to discard not just engines). I would also suggest accumulated knowledge for obvious reasons especially if you are playing a couple intuition. Maybe even a couple scepters but I would suggest some control. Sideboard compost against MBC.

    Quote from Spaz350 »
    That's true, plus, Black's biggest strength in this block seems to be discard, so it makes sense. How could they make Toshi stand out, though? Maybe he could somehow cause random discards? Something like:

    Toshi Umezawa, Ochimusha :2mana::symb::symb:
    legendary creature - Human Rogue
    Fear
    Whenever Toshi deals combat damage to a player, that player discards a card at random.
    :symb:: Regenerate Toshi
    3/2

    That is an absolutely broken card. I think its grossly over-powered. Random discard is too powerful, A guy who has fear who causes it, way too powerful, the fact that he can never be kille, off the charts, I would actually play a deck based on this guy. (well maybe not based but I would certainly play him in any black deck I build, might I add the rock would become a force to be reckoned with). On otp of that he would be probably one of the best limited cards ever created. At least out of like the last 4 or 5 blocks. Grin

    Look at the top X cards of your library and put all creature/land cards into your hand. Put the rest under your library in any order.

    Now, how about that?

    It's far too blue-ish. The reason all the colours can beat each other is because they have their own abilities and weaknesses. They would be giving green a bit too much power by allowing it to select. Like magma jet with red only it wasn't that devestating. Take a look at Commune with nature. Yes it is green selection but right after you choose one thing, the rest go to the bottom which means that you can't decided your future which is what blue/selection is all about. Besides thats completely over-powered. Imagine dumping your whole hand on the table by turn 3 and then you just use the shoal w/vine kami and refill your hand. Hell I would splash green just for that. Time of need for myojin of lifes web (in a U/G deck) shoal it, draw ten cards and flip jushi apprentice. Or just play it in WW. Time of need, myojin, might of oaks, and the shoals maybe even giant growth. A lot of decks play mostly creatures and lands with very few sorceries and instants. So if you shoal the myojin You would look at ten cards and get a minimum of 7. If you are really unlucky you'll get 6 but there is nothing wrong with discarding 2 (or 3 with the time of need) and drawing between 6 and 10 Smile

    With the red one being, more or less damage, the black one being creature destruction, and the blue one being a counter, the green one is either going to be XGG destroy target artifact or enchantment with CC equal to X, or XGG destroy target artifact with CC equal to X. Depending on whether the white one is enchantment destruction, or life gain/damage prevention.

    This appears to be the way to go. However, I think that white being the unknown counterpart to red will confer +0/+X to balance it out or it may be gain life or prevent damage. Now I know prevent X damage after discarding 2 cards is really bad but hey, R&D have done it before, they can make a bad card again. Now there may be a small chance of the green one being +X/+X but I doubt it. I don't think that it would make the others inferior. My reason for this is because green will always be green and one thing I notice about the shoals is that they are colour restrictive which means that you can only really use each shoal effectively in its respective colour. Basically I'm saying even if it turns out to be a good card (+X/+X) what deck will they play it in that really breaks the deck? I'm sure you can splash it into WW but then you just lose cards, you may as well play might of oaks instead. Remember they came out with enrage, while green got better pumps like timberwatch elf, and that was when a green weenie or elf was worth playing and would actually be able to use this effectively. I don't think R&D mind giving green a huge boost cause they don't really need it (or they know it won't be played Smile )If you are going to argue that you can use it in snake then I either suggest you become a casual player or quit magic. :p

    If only there was a way to change a land's type, Reef Shaman/Dream Thrush/Mystic Compass

    Or maybe just change all nonbasic lands into mountains, Blood Moon :evil2:

    In theory that should work but you have to be fast. I would rather go (in limited) turn one mountain and enchant it (they generally don't cast something on first turn) second turn beat for 6. After than you just leave it on and keep attacking until they get a creature and then you keep attacking with it with other creatures by its side which means they start taking a lot of damage. The fact that it can't die is cool but if you use it right in connection with other creatures. I shouldn't and they should die pretty quickly. ( bear in mind that the blue genju is basically unblockable and as usual the green one is a tank. The red one should be able to kill any creature in the set. With the obvious exception of pumped creatures, big butt, and huge guys probably like the new guy with soulshift 8). I still think the blue one is broken cause even if they manage to kill it, it just comes back. :imu:

    I suppose it is plausible that the Fox Offering is in flavor for a Betrayer. Perhaps "Offering" is the actual mechanic, and there is a cycle or two for each major race in the set??? The ability makes more sense with Rat Offering, Snake Offering, Akki Offering and Moonfolk Offering in the mix. Still the mechanic seems to close to Ninjitsu for me.

    Are we having trouble understanding the difference between Ninjutsu and offering. Offering allows for quick acceleration into monstrous creatures and as mention before if they try kill your small creature you replace with a bigger one. You can get out fatties on turn 3/4 because of this ability. Ninjutsu you swop creatures and your creatures have to be unblocked. It is an attack mechanic which just makes people more cautious about letting through damage. By definition you must have several creatures out and they are not expendable. Offering allows you a great blocking combat trick or allows your smaller creatures to become expendable. If you use the fox offering and attack with several creatures you will gain a bunch of life. They are both combat tactics but ninjutsu is limited to being offensive which means that its abilities must be better because of the restrictive format in which they are played. Offering and ninjutsu, if used effectively can both nullify creature control if used effectively, however, with offering you can do it at any point in time, opposed to ninjutsu which can only be used before damage stacks during your attack phase. They both just add colour to the game thats about it. Smile
