I think it will bring something new, I just could'nt capture it in the synopsis.

None of those are really what its about, they were just included in the explanitory parts. The war is over, They do live underground for the most part but I don't think thats really a topic, and well yes they do tavel space but not very much.

I will get to typing up a chapter as soon as possible probly sometime tomarrow of friday.

Hmm, well, the synopsis was rather confusing and tough to follow quickly. My biggest piece of advice that I give to all writers is that cliches are okay. They are cliches for a reason. But when one relies on cliches, then the story loses its originality.

So seeing as this is just a plot synopsis and not the real piece I'll keep my comments brief.

    1. The plot is seemingly convoluted and cliched. What new elements does this story bring to the post-apocalyptic/sci-fi genre?

    2. There also seem to be a lot of conflicting ideas even in the plot synopsis. Global war, living underground, space travel. Pick one and refine it to something really nice. No need to splatter paint this story.

    3. Post a sample chapter/page or two so we can get a real feel for the story.

I quite like the artwork and the font, but the rest of the sig is a little boring. Spice up some of that text!

    Keeping with the Olympic theme:

This American skier also happens to be the champagne of beers.

(More of a B&A I know, but I felt so clever when I thought of it.)

Agreed. But I'm sure there are plenty of essay topics that aren't just "intellectual" of the like.

Oh I totally agree with that sentiment, but whenever a social or ethical point has to be proven, people tend to get adamant, angry, and blinded by their own opinions. I think if we did do an essay style contest it would have to be on a far more neutral subject. Again, I'm going to point to a Magic related essay. Maybe ask people to argue, in 2000 words or less, whether or not the Plansewalker card type is an excuse to print over-powered cards. Or argue the pros and cons of the Mythic rarity on the secondary card market. They need to be card shop (i.e. relatively pointless) prompts as opposed to more intellectually or socially charged ones.

The debates sub-forum is a joke. If any of my professors caught me looking at that section, it'd be an embarrassment.

You aren't kidding. Have you seen the thread about the legitimacy of the term 'redneck' as hate speech. It's like (probably actually is) watching three people who can't make a logical point scream at each other and throw facts Apple-C Apple-V'd from Wikipedia. Unfortunately I have to come to the sentiment that the more "intellectualism" we keep out of PW, the better.

I just finished Skins Series 3, which is far inferior to Series 1 and 2. I don't suggest it to anyone. Also I've been getting seriously invested in Caprica over the first three episodes. I really hope it doesn't get canceled after one season; I'm really loving Eric Stoltz.

The images in the banner are horribly distended, but I like the way the sig is arranged.

In Swiss I expect to see more crappy over-costed guys that wouldn't make the cut in better drafters' hands, so I'd expect Casualties to be a little bit worse.

Explain this to me please. That logic really confuses me.

I would take the Hideous End over the casualties. The spot removal is really nice seeing as you already have two potential board clearers. Plus the Hideous End does 2 damage, which can, and will, win games.

Perfect. First person to toss Batman a vote, I like it!

As far as I'm concerned, Batman is an auto-include in the cube. Good P/T for cost, evasion, and two quality and relevant abilities. Sure he might not always be a P1P1, in fact he rarely is, but always a personal favorite of mine.

Hahahaha, whoops. I should pay more attention. Let me fix that right now.

EDIT: How does that work for you S_E?

Sry, if this may sound like a newbie question, but why did everybody give Meloku, the Clouded Mirror so many points? What makes it superior to any other blue finisher (since no other creature made it into the top 20)?

It's a 2/4 that isn't color intensive and makes 1/1's for almost no cost. It survives almost all burn in the cube, beats in for 2 and makes that army of fliers. She can lock down games if played correctly.

A theory as to what will happen with the dual dimensions/timelines:

Thus far, we haven't seen any kind of forward momentum on the flash-sideways. They're just inside peeks into how life "would have been", without any plot development. We see a few changes in the character's life, we see a few familiar faces, but that's about it.

Seeing as how they aren't trying to go anywhere with this, I wonder if the flash-sideways are kind of an homage to the characters, and nothing more? Sort a "this is what would have happened had the character overcome his/her faults, this is the life they would have lived".

    On the island:

Good call on the numbers and the Valentzi Equation. Maybe it does refer to the characters learning and changing from their faults. This seems to be the ancient struggle between Jacob and the MIB - whether it "always ends the same" or not - if people can truly rectify and atone for the past.

I agree with you on both of these points. I really think that the flash-sideways are really just to show us these people without the island, a way to give closure to all who wanted to see what would happen if Jughead really had worked.

What tipped me off to the "trials and tribulations" idea in relation to the names in the cave is something that Jacob says during The Incident: "It only ends once, everything else is just progress." The word progress is what sticks out to me in that sentence. I think we are meant to see the connection between those names and the concept of progress.

I think we have to go with the combat trick here. As I've gone on about previously, I think Slaughter Cry is easily one of the best red, common, and instant cards in the set. It creates huge board advantage when played correctly (say a double blocked Baloth or Giant). It's the pick.
