Let's say I have a Patron of the Orochi, untapped. If I play it's ability, does it untap itself, or tap itself first? In other words, does it end up tapped, or untapped?
It's effect is actually quite powerful. Untapping all forests allows for you to double the amount of spells you would play in one turn in a mono-green snake deck.
Oh oh oh! Another idea: Patron of the Soratomi! Especially if you can find a way to get out multiples of this, Meloku/other soratomi + Patron of the Soratomi= Lots of life.
True. If meloku could return two lands to your hand, it would have an infinate loop with the patron of the moon:
You have out three lands. Tap one, return it and another to your hand. Tap the remaining one to put those two into play (untapped). Tap one of your two untapped to return itself and the other tapped one to your hand (leaving one untapped). Repeat process.
Too bad. Still, Life Gift + Melouka + Patron of the Moon is a very, very potent combo.
It's good. but why Rare?
I cant see any point on this...
May see play in construct, useless in limited imho.
Because it is extremely powerful. Think about this on turn three against a deck that is trying to get out a dragon. Not only do you basically get a free life during your turn for you land, but you get life as they build up to their dragon.
It's also incredibally powerful with zo-zu in combination land destruction, and/or land bounce.
If played in an R/G small (as in three/four land) deck, along with zo-zu, this is would be quite powerful. You can play land for one life, whereas your oponents pay two, and you lose one. You probably won't play more than four, and note that spells like Sakura Tribe Elder "put" lands "into play," which is different than playing them (I think), which would allow you to go by zo-zu.
Very ineteresting. With this in mind, it should be easy to deduce that the card previewed tommorow will be the Patron of the Orochi, or they would be revealing two cards' art in one day.
The skin on the Kitsune patron will be interesting to see, as will that of the moon patron... and the rat one for that matter ;).
EDIT: Or do they have new arcana on Saturdays? I forget?
so.. question.. is there a good spirit with cmc of 8 out there?
cause i can't understand why wizards keep making these creatures.. moss kami.. vine kami.. the (U) insect kami..
if.. imho.. some of the most used green cards in cok where cheap.. sakura elder.. the kodama arcanes.. the zubera.. hana kami.. stuff like that.. so what's telling wotc that they must keep on making these things?
(ok.. the dragon and kodamas.. but.. what else?)
You must be new to the game. Moss Kami is one of the most powerful creatures in CHK. With green mana accel (one Kodama's Reach + one Sakura elder), you can get it on turn four, and attack on turn five. I draft U/W. Always. Unless I get terrible cards. Normally a kabuto moth + kitsune blademaster can basically destroy anything, as I finish off my oponent with my teller of tales, and sometimes unblocked blademasters. However, facing down a moss kami without a cage of hands is devastating.
Possibly, but in Limited it's an absolute house. As has been pointed out already it will generally two-for-one unless a removal spell is used on it, but what nobody has mentioned yet is that even if you have a creature who can take the Marauder down without dying you will still have to lose a creature to do so, and if he controls only one creature it can't be blocked at all.
Hm... Thinking about it that way, it actually is quite good. The problem is it is extremely vulnurable to any type of removal.
Could you please have the images that are linked to either open in the same window, a specifically sized javascript popup or a new window? On my Firefox they come up as a window the size of my monitor, but not maximized, so I can't quite it from the top right corner. Very annoying, becuase I keep ending up quiting the window below it.
They want us to be confused! I'll suggest the following:
Shrine of Five Realms - :symw::symu::symb::symr::symg:
Legendary Enchantment - Shrine
Lands you control get +1/+1 for each other land that is also a creature.
Meh?
Or just "Lands you control get +1/+1." That would sound kind of interesting sounding.
And so on. If your deck is built around the cards in it, which is should be, this can be devastating in the early game. Late game... it has less potential (except that it has Arcane).
True, but Blind With Anger + Crack the Earth is pretty good late game.
When you sacrifice an indestructable creature, does it die?
If I were to splice a Consuming Vortex onto this, would I return the creature I decide to sacrifice to my hand, or does the stacking order of the effects make that impossible?

Great card! Snake decks just got even better.

Vine Kami is aweful though.

Who cares? Has anyone noticed that a 3/3 for 3 with no drawbacks isn't too great? A 3/3 for 3 with drawbacks is aweful.
Pretty expensive, but it's a pretty effective game ender (of course, it's no Myojin of Life's Web...).
