I'm not sure if I like this. As I said in my previous post with this deck gone Tron will come back and we have metagame where fair decks are dead except for uw. I wish I was wrong on this one but I'm very sure this is (unfortunately) going to happen.

Red Bull tournament in Brussels was indeed good with pretty nice metagamne but I will contribute most of this to Hogaak. Hogaak keeps tron and some other decks in check allowing more fair decks to compete. If Hogaak is banned Tron will come back and uw control will be the only viable fair deck again as it used to be pre-Hogaak. This is far from great and balanced format unless you enjoy uw being the only decent fair deck while others (mostly midrange) are basically dead.

Just a few words by me. I don't post here for several years now because you can't discuss anything productive but I just wanted to say this (although it might be better if I didn't as this).

There are actually two copies of UW Control in top 8 of GP and no Phoenix.

I'm a long time midrange player (this is my favorite archetype) but midrange are just not good anymore. This has been the case for quite some time but now I I finally decided to move on play some other, more competitive deck.

Generally speaking I prefer interactive decks but more proactive way of doing it because I don't like sitting their and doing nothing. Therefore control isn't my style as it feels too reactive for my taste.

With this in mind I decided to try something new. After some thoughts of metagame and what to play I decided to play Dredge. Gy based decks are not what I would normally play since I don't enjoy this play style. After testing it a bit I found out that I actually like it. However there's a problem which it very obvious but still-gy hate. Usually I you can do with some but if there's too many it's better to play a different deck. This is the case right now thanks to Hogaak. It seems that everyone and their mother is playing lots of gy hate which makes Dredge worse. Because of this I decided to try something else (at least until gy hate goes down a bit and for other cases like this so I always have another option if I feel there's too much gy hate). I'm not sure what that would be.

I would like my deck to be competitive since I don't enjoy playing a deck if I know it's not very good even though it might be my play style otherwise. I was thinking about Izzet Phoenix Humans but I'm not sure.

Control and it's not even close. Control got insane boost in the last 1-2 years, literally more good things than other archetype together.

Like I said, the only reason Phoenix isn't getting nuked from orbit is because Horizon and WAR are supposed to shake things up enough. But under any other circumstances, something from the deck WILL be going at the next B&R. And who knows, they might just do that anyway.

    That's true.

At least it won't win this time, not that it changes anything but still.

Better to see Jund doing good than some nonsense deck although it is surprising. Maybe Rock but I did not expect Jund to do well.

Edit: Izzet Phoenix, Dredge and Humans are undefeated decks of Day 1.

I voted for option 4. I still play Modern but not very much as I simply don't enjoy it very much. As for someone who prefers interactive fair decks Modern just isn't where I want it to be. Furthermore I don't like format when a specific deck (read: UR phoenix) dominates so much but prefer metagame where none deck is so much above others.

I still have hope that MH will help with this though.

I'm worried about these numbers as well. Hopefully Wizards will do something about it, let it be something from Modern Horizons or bans if nothing else helps.
