I might actually start caring more about standard now, as I heard stores are actually scheduling standard RCQs now. Is it all just Bx(x) decks right now?
I'm not surprised there's a trend of commander being the most popular format too, it's been driving sales for a while. I'm surprised kitchen table is so high, as I thought commander had mostly replaced casual play.
For people who voted other, how do you play magic?
I'm the Casual mod but voted for EDH because it's hard to find people that play casual.
I feel that EDH took a lot of the crowd that used to play 60 card casual. Several of the people that used to play EDH on Saturdays at my LGS before covid used to play 60 card casual but they didn't play that as much
kinda disappointed I need to decided on what I'm gonna play at a few modern events coming up now that lurrus is banned. But I guess modern should be more open now
so here are a few of my thoughts without talking or thinking about it too much.
I feel the colourless searching for them isn't as easy in pioneer. No expedition map, either of the eggs modern tron runs. so I believe the only tutor pioneer tron gets that is run in modern tron is sylvan scrying
There are also less "big" payoffs as no 7 mana Karn or wurmcoil engine. That leaves us with new Ulamog and KGC.
while the reasons I listed probably just mean tron would look pretty different if they were to put in in pioneer, I still don't know if that's something worth doing. I can be convinced otherwise but they seem to have pushed ramp in ways of building up mana through spells like explosive vegetation. Plus I just think the mono g devotion deck in pioneer is so much more interesting but that's beyond the point
I've noticed that paper prereleases for the past 3 sets (Both Innistrad sets and Kamigawa now) have barely gotten any people attending in y area. Not sure if it's product fatigue or people just playing at home, but it's pretty concerning
I had a buddy that had a few secret lairs he ordered where somehow they never made it out of the US and into Canada, so they got returned to sender. So he got WotC to issue him a refund.
While the Secret Lair concept is neat and has produced some cool arts, it seems like quite the mess
