Good luck vintage. That's all I can say from this as sanctioned vintage tournaments are rarely seen in the wild and I have played sanctioned vintage exactly once and that was the vintage side event at GP Vegas 2015. Now in terms of vintage events in paper in general there's going to be basically nothing outside the handful of sanctioned big events each year (BoM, champs, and those fleeting GP side events that can actually fire.)

yeah I can't see vintage getting much more support now that you can't even use proxies. Unless the community rallies in a way similar to the Legacy Community did when SCG stopped having as much legacy events

I mean I'd hate to see any format die but it doesn't look good

Most of my fetching is of Steam Vents, Watery Grave, and basic Islands, due to how blue-intensive the deck is in practice. I find that, in most cases, the deck can run off of a single black and single red source if needed, but it needs a lot of blue. A one-of Blood Crypt is a nice option to fetch, but I rarely look for it except when my other lands are somewhat awkward. This is especially true with Cryptics in the deck, since you will often need three to four blue sources.

I cut my third Cryptic for my second Dispel as well, and it's suited me well, so I don't think you can go wrong there.

I like blood crypt as a one of in my deck but I don't usually put much priority on fetching for it as blue is more important

I run 2 cryptics and 0 dispel main (2 in the sb), think dispel is worth main decking?

2 Dispel is a right call most of the times(except when you are heavy Affinity/Merfolk heavy). I will also agree. I have tried that and stayed there. I even went to 1 Cryptic Command, but that is because of my store's meta as well.

Blood Crypt is not needed just for precaution, but it is mainly for you to be able to run 2 Damnation post sideboard. I do, so it fits me just fine. If I would not, I would probably play sth else(2nd Darkslick Shores if i run into a lot of Aggro decks or Drowned Catacomb if i run into a lot of midrange/BGx decks.

I run languish and 2x anger of the gods sb so sometimes blood crypts is nice

I might try running 2x dreadbore in the side to deal with walkers like Karn, Ugin and opposing Lilies, not sure what other walkers are played in modern

I'd have to say thopters, as they're pretty prevalent and ornithopter is almost as old as the game itself

the alternative is even more 'poisonous' though, bans that is

after all we all have the choice to include broader SB options rather than narrow and focused

for instance in my Jund list rather than including Anger of the gods as sweeper and Leyline of the Void as GY hate, or choosing one in favor of the other, i just went for 2x Jund Charm, the instant speed is so sweet at killing affinity's manlands too, while it keeps a 3rd mode as a rarely used combat trick

instead of the auto-win Feed the Clan vs burn i used the broader Kitchen Finks, which has aplication in the mirror and vs other aggro decks as well, while bringing in a single Duress which is for all the combo out there

the playset of Fulminator Mage is too important to pass, but Blood Moon unescescary and kinda obsessive imo, in a sesne that the deck is not unbeatable save Tron/Bloom

i also found Golgari Charm to come in handy against many decks with 3 relevant modes as sweeper, enchancment removal and board wipe protection, most BG pilots seem to have forgotten about this, yet it can come in against affinity, Twin (catches BM), Amulet as it can both get rid of a Leyline or Hive Mind in some rare occasions, while it can also clear the bee's tokens, + random rogue decks like boggles, old school control with Verdict etc

ofc there are tons of flex spots and SB slots to optimise your deck as you see fit, ofc i am not saying that you shouldn't play Stony Silence because it's narrow, ofc you should, but a SB full of narrow cards will always have blind spots

imo people want 'easy win' cards in the SB which are always very narrow and always leave them vurnerable and then complain about SB loterry

in every deck i've built my goal was G2-3 to have some good(but not auto-win) cards and 0 bad cards, my approach of wider SB cards has served me well so far and i'd fully recommend it, after all BG is a powerful deck, we don't really need to hate the crap out of them like we're Hatebears or something, we can still win with our superb card quality

ps: i don't imply that you are using narrow cards ofc, i don't even know what your SB is, i'm just using your post as an opportunity to share some thoughts of mine

that's how I've been approaching boarding lately, broad answers to multiple decks, I find it so much easier after realizing to sb that way

I kinda like a format where you don't know what to expect and you need broad answers

posted a message on Are all the prices of the new magic cards they're releasing becoming stagnant?
generally speaking, cards drop in value the more a set is open as there are more copies of them in the market

sometimes cards will jump again once they see play in older formats as they're no longer easily available but there's a demand

luck factors more into games than skill IMO. You can spend a lot of time preparing for certain decks, but if you don't have the luck, you could very well face different decks or not see the cards you need or get mana screwed/flooded

plus it can sometimes be hard to predict metas in other areas, so that plays in affect, especially after new sets

I think I might test vampiric link or flashfreeze over dragons claw.

I don't see much burn around here but burn hate is always good to have for when I go to bigger events

at least flashfreeze is good in other matches
