Mar 17, 2014spooky posted a message on Casual Castle: Nemesis of MortalsI had not thought about red at all actually, but there are some interesting options there. Fling is one, but Faithless looting looks more promising. Also, there are a few cards in black that are very similar to fling.Posted in: Articles

Mar 17, 2014spooky posted a message on Casual Castle: Nemesis of MortalsGrave Troll is certainly an option, as he could both be cast as big creature, or fill up the yard for you. I'm wondering what would get replaced though?Posted in: Articles

Mar 17, 2014spooky posted a message on Casual Castle: Nemesis of MortalsIf you have the Genesis already you can certainly try it. I think the fact that he costs half the cost of the deck is a bit of a flag for me.Posted in: Articles

Mar 17, 2014spooky posted a message on Casual Castle: Nemesis of MortalsBloodrush as a graveyard filler is pretty cool. Maybe a combination of bloodrush as well as cycling?Posted in: Articles

Mar 17, 2014spooky posted a message on Casual Castle: Nemesis of MortalsCreature only decks sound really cool. I think this deck could actually be insane in such an environment, as you draw many more cards than any of your opponents will.Posted in: Articles
As far as the guttersnipe idea goes, if you wanted to work on a deck together I would love to help. Go ahead and message me some ideas (maybe a list) and I'll see what I can do. -

4 Foundry Street Denizen
4 Goblin Bushwhacker
2 Goblin Pyromancer
4 Mogg War Marshal
4 Dragon Fodder
4 Goblin War Strike
4 Hordeling Outburst
3 Impact Tremors
4 Krenko's Command
4 Mogg Alarm
4 Quest for the Goblin Lord
19 Mountain
Burn
Landless Dredge
Dredge
Soldier Stompy
Boo Berry
Enchantress
Shoal Infect
Those that could be upgraded better than others
Merfolk
Blue Tempo
Reanimator
Pox
This is all just my opinion. Do you have any questions about any of these decks? What is your personal price range? What kinds of decks do you like to play?
-4 Orim's Chant
+4 Silence
-2 Elspeth, Knight-Errant
+1 Luminarch Ascension
+1 Mobilization, or Sacred Mesa, or Heliod, God of the Sun
-1 Kor Haven
+1 Plains
-4 Wrath of God
+4 Day of Judgment
These are your main options.
As far as the sideboard goes, your main problems will be combo matches, as well as burn. I might play something like this, but it all depend son your meta.
4 Rest in Peace
3 Ethersworn Canonist
3 Pithing Needle
2 Rule of Law
2 Warmth
1 Oblivion Ring
There are a plethora of other graveyard hate options instead of rest in peace, and warmth could easily be a couple circle of protection: red. Pithing Needle is mainly for planeswalkers. I'm not really sure how dangerous they are in total, but I know dealing with Jace before he kills you can be an issue.
4 Bloodbraid Elf
4 Burning-Tree Emissary
4 Ghor-Clan Rampager
4 Goblin Guide
4 Myr Superion
4 Vexing Devil
4 Tinder Wall
2 Colossal Might
2 Forked Bolt
2 Blood (Flesh/Blood)
4 Chain Lightning
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Copperline Gorge
5 Forest
4 Karplusan Forest
5 Mountain
There are a number of ways to get Myr Superion out asap, and he makes the deck super explosive. Goblin Guide can be replaced if he's too expensive for you, but he's very strong.
Overall, I am confident this list is stronger than the one you have presented.
Personal Tutor would be ideal here, but I'm sure it is well past your budget. Instead of that, why don't we just use some draw manipulation? Ponder, Preordain, Slight of Hand, Serum Visions, and Portent are all fine options. I would consider them in the order I present them.
Neurok Transmuter is an option that could decrease your reliability on Spellbook and Trinket Mage. I might play 1-2, as you can activate him to turn a mana dork into an artifact, which you could sacrifice to find the blightsteel. You could also play Tolaria West, which is on color and can transmute to find the spellbook.
Turn Aside can protect your creatures (including your blightsteel) from removal. There are actually a lot of options for this style of protection. If you want to protect your Shape Anew as well, then I would stick to Spell Pierce or Negate. Determined from Bound // Determined is another great option.
All in all, I think the deck could do better looking something like this...
8 Island
8 Forest
4 Thornwood Falls
Creatures (17)
4 Coiling Oracle
4 Trinket Mage
4 Llanowar Elves
4 Birds of Paradise
1 Blightsteel Colossus
4 Impulse
4 Ponder
4 Shape Anew
4 Bound // Determined
2 Distortion Strike
4 Preordain
1 Spellbook
2 Balefire Dragon
4 Dragon Hatchling
4 Dragonspeaker Shaman
2 Furyborn Hellkite
2 Kilnmouth Dragon
4 Moltensteel Dragon
4 Firebolt
4 Geosurge
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Pyroclasm
4 Seething Song
18 Mountain
4 Sandstone Needle
4 Crystalline Sliver
4 Galerider Sliver
4 Hibernation Sliver
4 Muscle Sliver
3 Phantasmal Image
4 Predatory Sliver
4 Sinew Sliver
1 Winged Sliver
4 AEther Vial
4 Spell Pierce
4 Swords to Plowshares
Lands [20]
3 Cavern of Souls
2 City of Brass
2 Mutavault
3 Razorverge Thicket
3 Reflecting Pool
3 Seachrome Coast
4 Sliver Hive
With this deck you can still protect your slivers with Crystalline Sliver and Hibernation Sliver, without having to pay 5 mana. You can swam up with aether vial, and you have quite a few pump slivers to make sure you can get that damage in.
Right now the deck is around $250. The first step into making it cheaper would be to take out the cavern of souls. Each of those are around 20 bucks. Just replace them with something like Ancient Ziggurat.
Cabal Therapy is a staple in this deck, as it acts as protection, and allows you to defend yourself mid combo. Before you reanimate your finisher you can flashback cabal therapy to pick their hand apart. Also, it allows you to target yourself mid combo to put finisher pieces into the graveyard. No breakfast or boo berry deck should be without therapy.
I'm not worried about you not being able to get one out at a decent rate(thought that is a bit of an issue). I'm worried about what happens when you draw the second one and can't cast it. :/
Right now the Legacy format is one where decks can win with 1-2 mana easily. Delver of Secrets is all many decks need in order to kill you. Deathrite Shaman produces mana, getting around sinkhole, and Young Pyromancer and Stoneforge Mystic both are enormous threats, not to mention Tarmogoyf. Unless they have no lands they will be able to produce a threat.
