I don't suppose you could do one on Rosheen Meanderer would you? Just built her and would love some more ideas. This is also one of the coolest ideas ever. Would it be possible to just have say the top X cards per color? Now THAT would be something really cool for everyone to have as well!
What's the deal with Reflecting Pool? The price went up a few dollars (~$9 to $~13) in the past month or so, and for the life of me I can't figure out why. I haven't seen it played in any format, but that's around a 40-50% jump in a month. MTGGoldfish doesn't list it in any decks either, and it isn't the sort of gradual rise that one expects with a casually popular card. Anyone know anything?
My Melek list is really different from yours, I went to route of just running pretty much all instants/sorceries, ramp, and four combo spells to win. I basically just control/survive long enough until I can start chaining extra turns until I can get to my combo pieces.
Those are fine trades if you are looking for JtMS to actually use in a deck, but I probably wouldn't have done the trade myself. Most people in my area are focused on trying to pick up their fetchlands and other things(Snaps/Lilis) for Modern. People who play legacy in my area already have their Jaces.
This event deck would win only one game at my store(and it is a super casual store with only me playing a competitive deck) and that is against our 10 year old who loves to play a dragons deck.
Wouldn't it also just be easier to explain where you are getting the price from? Instead of having an argument over who's opinion is more "righter" than the other?
You can also sell them in bulk to card shops. It isn't alot of money, but it can add up(and who wouldn't want to trade 15000 Kraken Hatchlings, Eager Cadets, and Grizzly Bears for actually good cards?).
If Karn Liberated is worth $25 post rotation, I wouldn't expect GoST to drop below that.
Karn Liberated was around the early teens most of his standard life, and stayed about the same after rotation(was not played at all in standard so his price wasn't affected by it). It was less than a year ago his price shot up(I can't remember the exact time) when people were spouting that Tron was "the" deck in modern. Not to mention most of the cards in the deck were criminally undervalued anyways, and all of them shot up. I wanna say that was sometime last year, after RtR was released. I imagine Geist is going to drop to about 15 after rotation, probably even more. Especially since he is such a powerful card that people still try to play him in standard when it isn't a good meta for him right now.
Rule #1 - Don't ever ever ever buy packs unless you are caught between throwing away money on candy or beer. Then, beer wins.
Rule #2 - Never pre-order anything that costs more than $2.
Rule #3 - 3 months after a set comes out is the best time to buy cards I need for EDH.
Rule #4 - Don't plan on making money, I am buying game pieces and I plan on playing with them. If I wanted to invest I would not be wasting my time with MTG.
This all the way, the only reason I "play" the market in the first place is to make my collection bigger and make more decks, not to make money.
Why would the judge foils drop that much? Has this happened with other Judge foils?
I'm personally just talking about regular fetches in general, but I don't think Judge foils would be hit that hard. The same art would make it take a bigger hit though, because why pay a "premium" on a card that has the exact same art, but a judge promo symbol on it? Doesn't help that they are in the new frame too. Don't worry though, I have a feeling that if they are reprinted, they will have new art like the shocklands.
The reprinted ones would settle into a 10-20 dollar range after sufficient cracking. The original Onslaught ones would likely retain much of their current value, but also drop to probably 2/3 of their current value and then work their way back up after the new ones are out of print. A year later, I imagine ~20-30 dollars for the new fetches with the older ones back near the range they are currently at.
This is what I think as well, though you have to think that if these are going to be reprinted, they are going to be used in all three of their biggest formats(legacy, modern, AND standard) so that may inflate their prices in the beginning. Not to mention tons of people who play edh but don't want to fork over serious cash for Onslaught fetches are going to be picking them up then as well.
I would think it depends on which fetch you are talking about. Polluted Delta would take a HUGE dive, as would most of the other fetches that are 50+. Though if they were from Onslaught I would imagine they wouldn't take TOO much of a dive price wise there(look at old school shocks compared to their reprinted counterparts).
Pure EDH spike in my opinion.
