Do we even want this? Spiritdancer is this effect on a body that can itself be enchanted, and I don't think we can afford to take out creatures to make room for this, and I definitely don't want to be drawing this instead of Auras.

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing; we have access to most of the best removal in the game, so there's a higher bar for creatures to pass. It just feels silly for a 3 mana 7/6 with upside (for any shell it would be played in) to not meet par. I guess part of the issue is that 3 mana is just a lot to pay in Modern, especially for a creature that doesn't have any immediate impact, regardless of size.

I feel silly for saying this, but is 7 power for 3 mana that gives a downside-turned-upside the next upkeep even good enough in Modern right now? It would depend on the shell that rises around it, but I'm not sure if cheap evasion-less beaters are what graveyard strategies are lacking.

Muldrotha is a straight-up value monster, this thing is great but getting to use your graveyard as a second hand is still better, at least from first impression of this card. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally building a Yarok deck as well, but I think in terms of raw power Muldrotha is a "better" Commander, at least until someone finds a punisher card that punishes opponents for playing lands or something like that, a la Zozu for Sultai.

Marauding Raptor is also pretty solid. Good tech against RDW and White Weenie while not going into the RDW either. Probably a good starting place for a Big Red with Ilharg and the new Cavalier. At least in standard.

In commander it’s going to be a solid hatebear that brings a discount for your dudes.

I don’t think there’s anything more I can ay about Rotting Regisaur that others haven’t.

You do realize the Raptor only triggers on creatures entering under your control, right? I fail to see how it interacts at all with RDW or White Weenie, other than being a 2/3 for 2.

Maybe it's the buy a box promo.

We already know the BaB promo, some Naya angel that buffs multicolored. Plus, if this were the BaB it say so in the legal text at the bottom of the card, and have a set number beyond the final number of the set.

The problem is that MH1 is taking the slot of the yearly supplemental product, which normally didn't have as much scrutiny placed on it as MH1 had. They always released a month-ish before the Spring set, people just cared about MH1 more than Battlebond.

As to the Leylines, Sanctity was first in a Core Set, but the actual first cycle was in Guildpact.

Now we have Loaming Shaman. M20 is just a reminder core set that grave hate exists.

Has Loaming Shaman ever been remotely playable in Modern?

I get that the 5 wedge legends are all mythics, but a 3/3 for 3 different colors of mana isn't Mythic quality. Even if it draws maybe 1 or 2 cards, those are just dragons, demons, or angels.

This was essentially already confirmed yesterday via the five Planeswalker Decks.

    Finally no Jace! Link

Last year we didn't have Jace in the Core Set either..?

We also knew this from the packaging article, where we got the boxing for the Planeswalker decks.

I haven't spent a huge amount of time on MTGO, but from watching streamers the more useful skill, like I said above, is knowing when to turn the corner. You save a couple dozen seconds by F6ing, you save entire turns worth of time by presenting a clock a few turns before there is a 0% chance of retaliation. It's playing the odds.

When you play Control on MTGO you are signing up to need to play quickly or accept timeouts, it's just the downside of a reactive shell that doesn't quite have a quick kill button. If they want to force you to have it, that's their prerogative (liken this to the win condition-less Esper Control decks in Standard, where you are literally just creating an unending game and forcing your opponent to either concede or be decked after a loooong time.)

If you're concerned about this, figure out where you're wasting the most time and tighten your decision making in those instances. Figure out when the earliest is you can start turning the corner, e.g. playing Snaps as Ambush Vipers and swinging in to chip away. If you are playing to not lose, e.g. super conservatively, not even trying to win until you are certain you cannot lose, then you honestly deserve to be timed out. The game doesn't end when you have a Teferi emblem, you still need to reduce their life to 0 or Mill them out. Sure, opponents might concede to not waste their own real-world time, but that's something they do for themselves, not for you. They don't owe you any time. By playing slow, you set yourself up to be timed out; those opponents are just letting you lie in the bed you made.

Plus, from a competitive point of view, if the only way a person can win is by letting you run out of time, then that's their choice to make. It's just a part of MTGO with its timer system; by playing it, you sign up for that different type of play.

just gotta say wizards missed an opportunity with force of despair. could have easily tagged on an exile clause to give it applications against GY creature decks.

they probably want to keep W the main source of battlefield creature exile effects.

We got Cry of the Carnarium in Standard, I think the equivalent for FoD would have been a nice addition with the rampant graveyard strategies in Modern. It wouldn't deal with Indestructible creatures, but handles recursion, which is the problem in Modern.

Don't you need something like 20 other blue sources for pitch spells to be reliably cast for free? I don't think most lists run the requisite colored cards to support FoN. Yes, you can hardcast it, but don't we normally tap out to do our own thing each turn? I don't think FoN is a great card for us.
