My three UW cards are Detention Sphere, Verdict, and Geist. I could see cutting Sphere. As an earlier poster mentioned, Sphere is an effect we already have in white.
Seems fine. It isn't as strong as some of the other lands, but it does have a cheaper activation cost. From the title, was anyone else expecting this to be blue/red?
Red has reached a saturation point on good, aggressive one-drops. Hooray. Also, boo, since I have to cut one to add Goblin Glory Chaser. Any thoughts on red's weakest aggro one-drop?
The problem with these black foils is that you need to make a decision on their playability rather quickly, or risk their prices skyrocketing. So far, I'll be going for Jace and Liliana.
Supposing I wanted one of each shard, what are the other serious contenders? Isn't the issue that some shards lack anything top-end, and thus you end up cramming so-so cards in to even them out?
The price is fine, but UB is already a strong control pairing. I hate cutting one of my UB tempo cards, since tempo is a build that needs a bit more help. Still, walkers are so popular in cube that another way to steal them may be worth it.
We just finished up a cube draft. A few thoughts on the new additions:
Mardu Strike Leader- showed up in a very solid Jund build, and was great.
Alesha- See above.
Ugin, the Spirit Dragon- was drafted in a UG ramp deck along with Karn. Only saw play once, was fine, but not amazing.
Warden of the First Tree- Saw excellent play in the Jund deck, great card.
Soulfire Grand Master- Very solid in URW control. Recurred Burst Lightning, Path To Exile, and Forbid. Other games she came out and did some early damage, then traded, which was fine.
Tasigur, the Golden Fang- Brutal in UB control...and just as brutal when my URW deck stole him with Treachery. Very solid EOT ability.
I think Go For the Throat is the best 2-drop black removal spell bar none. How tight is your section that you consider cutting it?
If I'm being honest the cut is probably Sinkhole or Curse of Shallow Graves, but I enjoy having both of those cards in my cube. I run reanimation also, but aggro is more common, and I still have Chainer's Edict in.
That's what I'm leaning towards right now. It always feels like a power move when you wipe out whoever is slapping on a Sword, or the Jitte...and while Edict is amazing, against aggro, you're usually just getting their worst dude.
