I've enjoyed running Cloudshift. I don't see it in many cube lists, but it's a versatile and useful card. Sometimes targeted removal is foiled, other times an etb effect is triggered twice, and still other times a blocker is allowed to both survive a lethal combat and then swing on the following turn. It does all this for a mere one mana. That's just the kind of card I want in my cube!
I like most of these changes as well. I never ran the artifact support, so your blue section looks a lot like mine has looked for some time. I too question the level of support you've added for blue devotion. It's Thassa and Master of the Waves, right? Is there any other reason to deliberately go have U casting costs? Maybe after the whole block is finished, if there are a bunch of solid cards in blue that care about devotion. As it stands Thassa is fine on her own. I'm not sold on Master of the Waves. I can see the Weird being good, though I'll run it is a blue card, and save Izzet Charm in my guild section.
My unpowered cube bans mana crypt, sol ring, and library. I know that leaves a lot of other powerful, cheap cards, but those three are the best of the best. Those three cards go in almost any deck of any color, and make them so much better. That's it for bans.
Point me to the white cards that can answer creatures, equipment, walkers, Survival, library of alexandria, for four (or less) mana all while not sucking versus aggro and being abusable by blink strategies so I can add them to my cube because I count only one.
Fetters is good for the same reason Vindicate is good. I get 23 slots in my deck, so one versatile answer is often better than three cheap but narrow answers.
Fair enough. I was thinking about O-Ring and the new tempo spell. We don't use Library, so that's less of a concern to our group. You guys raise an excellent point though. I do hate to lose Parallax Wave, but White is pretty stacked at four. How are you blinking Fetters?
On the subject of White's four drops...is Faith's Fetters really necessary? It's a strong card, no doubt, but isn't it something White can do any number of other ways?
It has been years, but I remember boxes of Revised and Fourth where there were 4-5 rares in a pack. I saw those packs with my own eyes, and purchased quite a few. I haven't seen anything like that lately, but I've heard tales.
We kind of take a middle ground on mana artifacts. The moxen are out, as it Lotus and Sol Ring. We do run Mana Vault though, so I think Grim would be a fine addition.
