They will probably always have equips in every set or block and there is no way they will ever run out of ideas for the keyword. #2 Banding should have been #1. I mean come on man.Posted in: Improbable Things

I'm not saying the deck is perfect by any means though. I just don't see your points standing. The reason I say that is this.
The deck only has 6 lords. Yes but they are fetchable. Where as most other decks hope to draw the lords. Not explosive but longer lasting.
Elves play lots of small guys then they get bigger. That's the same plan here. Well minus the LD aspect. That can totally be taken out. But you can cast cards in your hand at the same time you pod for the best elf in your deck. IE: I can cast a newly drawn Llanowar and pod a ranger into a Archdruid on the same turn.
Why run ETB effects when you can run good effects that keep going or can be activated? I can fetch an Ezuri for good blocks, or an Archdruid to give a perm +1/+1 effect. I know they can board wipe and all. I'll just regen all my guys or overrun a clasm.
2 Joraga Treespeaker
1 Fauna Shaman
2 Sylvan Ranger
3 Lotus Cobra
1 Ezuri, Renegade Leader
1 Viridian Corrupter
3 Elvish Archdruid
1 Obstinate Baloth
4 Vengevine
3 Phyrexian Metamorph
4 Acidic Slime
2 Sun Titan
3 Genesis Wave
22 Land
Basically you try to beat them with elf beatdown, but if that doesn't work you work the chain of 3 drop to Metamorph, to Slime, to suntitan over and over again until they have no lands to stop you from beating on them.
The wave helps make you resistant to field wipes. Plus has almost no chance of missing if done at 6 or greater.
That also is why I like the Runed Servitors in this deck. You can't activate Sledges equip without a legal target. I know it sucks to allow them to draw a card but your draw plus the body is great to have here.
Honestly without a sac outlet the deck has little chance to work. The basic concept is to sac the artifacts to salvage them back up to get the 2 for 1 ca they produce. Which when you combo out its more like 4 for 1 for some. IE cast Icor Wellspring, draw, sac wellspring, draw. Then cast Salvage to draw well spring, cast wellspring, draw, sac wellspring to draw again. That's the part of the combo that's missing.
The idea of cleaning out the opp board is wonderful and all. Trust me, I would love to see that ulti go off but in all honesty Tezz looks to be more possible.
This deck would be perfect if Megatog and Lightning Greaves were still in standard.
2 Psychosis Crawler
4 Riddlesmith
3 Runed Servitor
4 Plague Myr
3 Mirran Spy
Spells
2 Frantic Salvage
4 Gitaxian Probe
4 Ichor Wellspring
3 Piston Sledge
3 Mycosynth Wellspring
4 Preordain
3 Semblance Anvil
2 Throne of Geth
2 Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas
Lands
4 Inkmoth Nexus
6 Island
3 Phyrexia's Core
4 Swamp
4 Tumble Magnet
4 Dismember
4 Contagion Clasp
3 Into the Roil
I feel that the Piston Sledge is necessary. I could totally be wrong, but so far no other sac outlet has been mentioned that can be used over and over in the same turn.
The idea of Tezz and proliferate looks great. I don't know how often that will happen at only 2 of each in the deck though. Probably need to drop that idea or build on it.
I like Time Reversal as a card, but don't really want to draw at any point in this deck. Once we get astablished...
I'm currently working on the combo version of this deck. Mirran Spy with a mana maker. mainly birds of paradise or grand arty. Then use Frantic Salvage to put the cards back on top to continue to dig. With all that being said have you considered a light splash of white? Mainly for Frantic Salvage and or Silence? Or Maybe making it more beat down like K red does and use salvo for the finish? I can see something like this working pretty well.
4 Goblin Bushwhacker
3 Slag Fiend
4 Riddlesmith
4 Runed Servitor
4 Mycosynth Wellspring
2 Mox Opal
3 Piston Sledge
2 Ratchet Bomb
3 Scrapyard Salvo
8 Mountain
4 Scalding Tarn
4 Inkmoth Nexus
2 Island
1 Phyrexia's Core
I'm kind of at a loss with this deck build. Without the mana maker how do you combo out? It looks like it's taking a different form altogether. I'm perfectly fine with it if it's the best that it could be. I just don't understand how it combos now. Especially with only 2 sac outlets. Did you just forget to include them or just don't run them?
Probe was included because it didn't cost anything. After you get the combo rolling it sucks to get hit with a mana cost card draw. Preordain is probably a great inclusing since it'll only cost 1 mana. If we can find room then running both would be great. I'll help streamline the combo.
I really like the Grand Architect idea. My only problem with it is it'll take until turn 4 at the earliest for the win. Turn 3 with the old style has happened to me several times. The architect plan would work great in addition to the birds imo. T1 Birds. T2 Spy. T3 Architect and then combo out until you get the anvil out. Maybe drop anvil to 1-2 for room?
Edit : Architect doesn't help you cast Salvage though. That hurts it in alot of ways.
This is the old version and a brief guide to how the deck opperates.
Some new cards that could make the deck better are Mycosynth Wellspring, and Gitaxian Probe.
With a set of Probes you in effect are running a 56 card deck. While Wellspring takes out 2 useless cards from your deck, thinning out the trash, and keeps your combo rolling.
The new version would look something like this.
4 Riddlesmith
3 Runed Servitor
3 Mirran Spy
2 Psychosis Crawler
3 Mycosynth Wellspring
4 Ichor Wellspring
4 Prophetic Prism
4 Piston Sledge
3 Semblance Anvil
3 Frantic Salvage
18 Land
Ok, Why? I mean why do you make these suggestions? Not saying they are bad or anything.
Wurmcoil is a great card but being the only aggressive card in the deck makes it a huge target.
I guess you are suggesting Leak over Negate. That's fine. I perfer Negate as it's not play-around-able. If I cast negate it's countered. You have to have a counter in hand or your card is in the grave. I'm thinking that with this style deck the game will probably go pretty long where leak is kinda trash.
Why no love for Ratchet Bomb? It's a cetch all answer. Bad late game draw but good against aggro style decks or dropping it can answer swords etc.
This deck plays differently, in theory, then most decks atm. Its a slow to start deck that doesn't worry too much about aggro decks that just slowly takes over the game.
Aggro should lose to Wall, Bomb, Wall, Wall, PW.
Val loses to slime, beast, edge
Control would be the toughest matchup but control atm is down. It's all about caw blade. This deck should be able to fight cawblade pretty well. Slime any equipment, Wall blocks fliers, magnets stop whatever, beast anyother threat they can muster.
4 Preordain
3 Tezzeret's Gambit
4 Negate
4 Beast Within
3 Rachet Bomb
4 Overgrown Battlement
3 Wall of Tanglecord
3 Acidic Slime
2 Karn Liberated
22 Land
4 elves
4 Treespeakers
4 priest
2 Cobra
is at the very most I would ever suggest playing. That is still pushing it.
Maybe run some Gen wave instead of the other slots. That way the extra mana acutally has a use. You can't always have superion in your hand.
