That VoR is nice looking. It's a surprisingly difficult regular extension to make lok clean; they did a good job with it.
Speaking of really clean extensions, Juju: Post the Ash Barrens I commissioned from you. It's one of the cleanest fade to black traditional extensions I've seen in a while.
Thanks man here it is, as well as a Volrath's Stronghold I did for someone else's cube.
I'm altering a card or two for my present, but unfortunately, I've been so busy at work that I haven't had any time for altering. I have just finished teaching for the year, and I've managed to get my outstanding commissions out of the way. I have time now to get my present sorted. It probably won't arrive before Christmas sorry, but rest assured that it's happening!
I apologize for the delay in pairings. This is the end of our grading period so I had to get report cards done and that took longer than I hoped. I should have grades wrapped up by tonight and have the pairings out before midnight. If you have posted in this thread so far, you're in as long as you send me your info by tonight. If you don't, I can't push it back anymore.
Thanks!
So you're also a teacher? Yeah crunch time for me too this past week. Had several classes worth of exams to mark, as well as write report comments for each of my students. I was so stressed.
I'm firmly convinced this is the best fiend hunter variant for cube.
Why? 2W instead of 1WW...
There are a fair amount of cards like birthing pod, collected company, survival of the fittest that want to run creature heavy decks, and having access to a tutorable removal spell is pretty clutch. Acting much like the "silver bullets" such as orzhov pointiff in modern chord of calling decks.
I've toyed with supporting them with fiend hunter before, but these decks are often 3+ colors and the WW completly killed that for me.
While those decks probably dont come together in normal cubes much, heavy green survival decks or recurring nightmare decks definitely do, and 2W is a huge benefit over 1WW for those decks.
White weenie isn't really the home for this kind of card, as it's too slow/underpowered to what that deck normally wants to do in the 3 slot. But it's not unplayable. When combined with recruiter of the guard, gives access to tutorable removal in a pinch.
If white 3 wasn't absurdly stacked, I'd probably be playing this guy right now... and may test him in the future.
I would agree with this. WW and 1WW cards have become increasingly unpopular picks over the last few years. For instance, Blade Splicer is played way, way more often than Brimaz in my cube, despite Brimaz being generally more powerful. That 2W casting cost is just so much more attractive to people. If I wanted this card, I would certainly run it over Fiend Hunter, personally.
Nice sigs man. RKF's signature is really cool and unique.
Speaking of signatures, I had the 'pleasure' of painting this for someone today. Let's just say I didn't charge enough for having to paint around the sigs.
Agree with Dolono here. Many of the commons and uncommons of the sets were designed to be drafted in multiples, and support a specific archetype. If you play with all three sets, some of those archetypes don't work, or don't make sense anymore.
Also, some of the rares and mythics are constructed plants, and also don't make a lot of sense for limited play.
Blade Splicer, really? I have found it to be the single most desirable white 3-drop. All kinds of decks love it. Despite Brimaz being more powerful in a vacuum, Ol' Splicy just is more attractive because of the splashibility.
Mid range green beaters like Kalonian Hydra are often overlooked by players. A lot of people go into green in order to "go big" on ramp, and don't see the mid range guys as valuable as the ramp and super fatties. It's just a player mentality thing imo.
I sent mine a while ago, I figure it hasn't shown up yet.
Thanks bud

Thanks so much Santa!

Cheers man It was for someone's Christmas themed deck.

Thanks man, I appreciate it
Thanks again man. I reckon I could do an even better job on that Mind Stone these days
