While I do think Surveil is better than Scry in many situations, it’s potentially a little worse in decks that don’t use the graveyard as a resource. To be fair, this is less and less common these days, what with Treasure Cruise and Dig Through Time etc. knocking about.
For me, because I've been playing since 1994, many of my favourite cards are older ones. Because of this, when I started my main cube, I knew I had to include cards from the start of Magic. Since then, many of my favourite cards have become less playable in my main cube due to rising power levels, particularly among creatures. This has lead to me creating a "Classic" cube, consisting of only old border cards.
Basically,.my suggestion is to build a cube that is the intersection (on a Venn diagram) of your favourite cards, the cards in your budget.
All that said, many people really like the challenge of building a cube around restrictions such as rarity, or sets or whatever. If that appeals to you, then by all means.
I have never missed one of these. Haven't been cubing much (or at all) in the last year. My life has become Rocket League. I'll still participate in this though. I'm always happy to do an alter or two for someone.
I'll send through my wishlist when I get a chance.
Shrine of Burning Rage has been really, really good for us. Getting this in your opening hand, or early in the game feels amazing. Kind of like how with Pack Rat, you know you've got something up your sleeve that can come out early, but will almost certainly win you the game if they can't remove it.
Yeah unless you really need the money, or you aren't comfortable owning such an expensive collection, it's probably worth holding onto, at least for now.
Nice rishadan port alter! Yeah I've done a few gold bordered cards in my time. Some of them you can't even tell after the extension. The force of will on my page, for example, was gold bordered.
That's a good question. I think if you are running all 10 Shocklands, the Rob Alexander set looks best all together as a cohesive set. However, for Blood Crypt, I like the Vincent Proce one quite a bit too, and the foil looks better than the Dissension foil in my opinion.
A few years ago, my Secret Santa gift never arrived. My Secret Santa never replied to any messages from the organiser, and it was never resolved. The user is still active on the MTGS forums, but not in the cube forum any more.
Some alters I did for someone's cube (they are technically a MTGS cube forum member, but they haven't been around here recently). The Recurring Nightmare is a new style for me, which I borrowed from Galspanic.
Also, an AT ST for my own satisfaction (had to be done).

I think it's Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I run this alter now:
I had no idea that ARN Serendib Efreet was so expensive these days. I still have one kicking around since he got cut from my cube.

Cheers dude
Thanks mate I really appreciate it. Extensions are still my favourite types of alters to do
Also added a card I did for the Secret Santa.
