WotC wouldn't do it for just that reason. They design the rarity distribution for draft and sealed. Putting in something that just gives it the middle finger would make it almost impossible to balance.

And if we're all throwing out our hot pack stories, I recall an incident in WWK draft where a guy picks up his pack for 2nd pick and he's staring at a Jace TMS. He turns to the guy and just goes "What the HELL did you get?". The other guy grins and shows us all a foil TMS. That was a hot pack.

...that hot pack was mucho better than my daughters...

Sports card manufacturers have been known to purposely produce "hot packs" of rare cards to entice more purchases and "gambling" to get one. The ploy worked great when there was a highly sought after Autograph, short print card or rookie card in the set. The manufacturers happily advertised it, though.

I dont know if WOTC would do such a thing, but if that were to occur, it would be VERY unfair in a draft. I would think that anything like this happening in Magic is an accident and they purposely keep some collation in their distribution.

BTW, my daughter pulled a foil 8th edition *** and a regular *** in a single pack. I called that one a "hot pack".

It will be a sideboard card in my Type 1 Burn deck. It's not broken or always great, but looks usable. For a 1 drop, you can handle the drawback.

Here's to the hope that there are actually some uncommon and rare Angels that aren't overly expensive to cast. We know how just having the word "Angel" added 1 or more to their CC (at least until Baneslayer and a few others came out in recent years). Lets hope their CCs are fairly costed like the variety of Birds. With the large size of the subset, there could be an army of new Angels.

Always been an Angel collector. This looks to be my block.

unless i missed it, HELLO! REANIMATOR!. no more U/B careful study, hapless researcher.. We can finally move back to the B/R Anger style deck. seems legit do to the resent graveborn release. now that wizards has their act together.

I have a B/R Reanimator (with Anger in the sideboard) and I have already said this will be going in it. Just got to find room. This card has little drawback in my deck.

Ideally, you drop the fatty in the yard turn 1, and reanimate turn 2. OK, ideally you go "Swamp, Dark Ritual, Entomb, Exhume, your go," on turn 1, but that's the godhand.

Another godhand is Swamp Cabal Therapy Dark Ritual Entomb Exhume (or Animate Dead) and most any hasty fatty. If you know what your opponent has, sometimes you can even steal his fatty with Cabal Therapy and the Animate Dead on turn one. Between those two combos, I have scored a godhand multiple times.

Just wondering if you made this build only for kitchen tables? Or maybe flavourwise?
I know I'm "new" in Reanimator, but I'd never play Undead Gladiator, Rorix, Brimstone Dragon or Razia at all... In my opinion they're just bad cards.

And if I would play any non beater in this deck, there's only space for Doomed Necromancer imho.

I've seen lots of new mechanics over the years, but most I haven't used, so this deck hasn't really been updated. Yeah, it's a fun deck, not a tournament deck in todays environment. Undead Gladiator isn't my first choice, but I haven't seen anything that I like either. I think Faithless looting will be replacing it, though, since it will give me both draw and discard. Just a Hasty Flying Fatty deck. If I can't get one on the battlefield by at least turn 2, it may be too late. I wouldn't call those bad cards when you can cast them for 3, but if you have to hard cast them, they are very overcosted.

I haven't been in a Tournament since 2005. A friend owned a shop until a massive flood downtown destroyed his dream, so I just stopped doing any serious play. I just look at the new Blocks and mechanics as they come along. If I like something, I drop it in a deck, like the 2 Mox Opals I put in my Ravager deck. My 2 sons also still play, but only on the "kitchen table" (as you put it) with their friends.

This is my B/R Reanimator I mentioned in previous posts. I have had it since Legions (with a few minor changes). It has a few nice combos and some burn. Everything except Akroma and Razia can be hard cast in an emergency (which hasn't happened yet). The sideboard is a lot of discard. Fire and Lightning helped shine this deck up. I have a Graveborn coming and will get a few singles to further shine up this deck. I might even take out a Brimstone Dragon and replace it with a Sphinx of the Steel Wind. Again, it's too bad Necromancy or Dark Ritual or a Demonic Tutor or Vampiric Tutor wasn't in it. Still a nice Premium deck, though. I do think these will sell out, unlike the other Premium decks. Oh yeah, and Faithless Looting will probably end up in this deck or sideboard, too. 4 foils please!

Might fit in my B/R Reanimator. If not maindeck, then maybe sideboard. Don't know, might have to playtest some proxies.

Wizards doesnt care about the secondary market.

Havent really been playing since about 2005, so I guess T1 has changed drastically. 4 Dark Rituals were very common in the day, pretty much required for the quick combos. Worldgorger Dragon got Entomb banned back then. Everything changes.

edit: esentially, you wanted to draw a swamp, entomb, exhume and a dark ritual. Extended was a blast until the bannings came. First turn fatty. Akroma, etc. kill, kill, kill.

    Quote from LimDuhl
Are ya serious? 4 Dark Rituals are not a problem at all compared to Cards like Entomb... If this deck wouldnt provide Entomb and Animate Dead or the beast called sphinx I'd agree with you.

Thats why they sell this product, they whant you to fine tune it! Not sure why just you didnt get it...

For me the whole post sounds like complaining only, but maybe it's just me.
And honestly, if you whant a really nice/competitive deck for a reasonable price just pick up four of it, add the dark rituals &co. and enjoy.
You have to look at this product from the point of view of a casual player or even a player who likes to try out reanimator in legacy for the first time. But i know by far much more players who allready play reanimator wich are glad to get a lot of foils for cheap! Big product, there's nothing to complain.

Thanks for the insight. Its all clear now. Wasn't complaining, but you feel compelled to accuse me of it.

No, like I said, not really complaining, but they are making these decks to have a working deck with a variety. Again, I already have a nice Reanimator that I will shine up with cards from one of these. My Reanimator has some of these cards, but no pretty Graveborn deck box, or foil Entombs and etc., so thats what I want it for.

But, I am right when I say that these Premium decks are not made for the serious MTG player. If so, one of the winning Reanimator decks listed above would be printed out, not the deck we have been offered. Why is it that if anything is said that makes the meter go slightly negative, someone has to come to the aid of WOTC? It was merely an observation. Go bash someone who is saying they will never play magic again. Those guys are laughable.

    Double post merged. -viper

I only plan to buy one of these and its only to replace my Reanimators Animate Deads, Exhumes, Entomb, Reanimate and Cabal Therapy with some bling. Otherwise, the deck is too soft. Where is Akroma? Where is the 4 Dark Riual? Where is the control? The biggest problem with all of these Premium Decks is that they are made waaaay too soft and not like anyone would seriously make a real deck.

A serious deck would have at least 3 Entombs, 4 Dark ritual, 4 Cabal Therapy... just look at any winning Reanimator decklist. They also don't have a sideboard- which I understand- but a good sideboard can completely change a deck. I run a Black/Red Reanimator and my sideboard has lots of control in it. Duals are nice to have.

Not complaining about this deck, but I think everyone who buys it will change it because its not a solid Type 1 deck. The same as all of the other Premium series. They aren't made to be stand alone killers, but working variety decks. I bought a Fire and Lightning deck only to make my existing Burn deck more shiny. Cool

I run Entomb and Animate Dead in my Reanimator, so this is great for me and I am getting this deck for Christmas. Santa Wife has already told me she was getting me one.

I would like to see Necromancy, Reanimate, Dark Ritual, Exhume, maybe even Cabal Therapy. How about Vampiric or Demonic Tutor? Could you imagine an Imperial Seal being reprinted (gasp!)? I know not to expect 4 of any card, but there are so many possibilities. Do they put Duals in these decks? From the box, I do think they may have gone mono-Black or merely splashed Red and/or Blue.

The multicolor decks require fixing and its much easier to get mana screwed. New Ravnica could slow things down a bit, and that may be the idea.

Seriously, I want to see another Phyrexian invasion, though. According to to the concept the Phyrexians will continue spreading until stopped. They won't stop on their own.

how about 4 copies in the 1st place Japanese Nationals deck? in the first week it's legal mind you... Smile

Good. I like the card, but don't have a deck for it. I'll have to look up that deck and see if its something I could play.

edit: and I did look and found 0 Solemn Simulacrum in the 1st Place deck. There were 3 decks that had use of them in the top 8, though. They all lost on the first round of the top 8. Yes, they are being played, but no, not in the 1st place deck. They are there for a reason, though, which I have to admit.
