Returning to Ravnica. So its multicolors? Great. Is it another Phyrexian Invasion? That would be great IMHO. I think Phyrexians invading known planes would be great. That would give an excuse to revisit planes and not just be revisiting for no reason (other than money).
Not outside of my area, I didn't travel, but in my area my decks won me plenty of FNM tourneys and that's all I was in it for. But I didn't do any FNM for a while after all of the Ravager bannings (and SS was not a staple in any Ravager decks that I had seen), so SS may have been in a few more decks when I was out of the picture. This was also the time when netdecks weren't the only thing out there. We saw many many many rogue decks due to people specifically refusing to netdeck. Now many many many people look for a winning deck to copy.
When you do see me say "sideboard card", by the definition we (old guys I guess) meant one of two things. Either we thought the card was a true situational sideboard card, like Tormod's Crypt in a Reanimator deck, or we were saying "sure I have a playset, but I can't use it in my decks". So please don't read into it that I think the card is total jank, I just think its not the greatest and currently don't have much use for it (but I have a playset, just in case).
I am saying sideboard card because I just cant see it maindecked. Mainly I am talking about this card when it came out in Mirrodin (a long time ago). Either my opponent just never cast one the first round or he sideboarded them in for some unknown reason. I never used them, so if I had even considered them, it would have been sideboard and probably still useless there. You are probably right, not even worth sideboard.
I dont play todays standard, so I really dont know whats the best use for it now, but looking at 12th and this new Mirrodin, it doesnt look like anything that great. Sure its an artifact and thats the plane Magic is currently full of. It is a colorless, land search color fixer chump blocker that gives card draw. It could be used anywhere, but I dont see greatness. If it had a cc of 3 it would be broken.
Sideboard card. Even back in the day, yes it was used in some 1st place decks, but it is no deck breaker. Its a sideboard card. Yeah, card draw and land search is great. But I saw it in several sideboards and some play, but it wasn't a difference maker that really changed the game. Mirrodin was so much non basic land and alternate card draw methods that this card eventually got play when everything good got banned. Sure, then it was considered fairly good.
I dont have any in my Ravager deck.
I just hope it produces blue mana, doesnt come into play tapped and isnt legendary. The 2UU discard counterspell would be great late game even in my T1 Blue Deck.
I would think Hexproof would be preferred. As far as flavor, I should be able to target my own creatures, so Hexproof makes sense whereas Shroud can be a drawback for my style of play.
Again, please dont punish me for spamming o gods of the forums- I didnt read your scriptures on every page, as I only read the first and last page before posting my humble opinion.
I've got a B/R reanimator. Its taken me forever to scrape up 3 entombs since they were unbanned (I had 4 back in the day). I'll get this just to get my fourth entomb. I'll keep the box and whatever I can switch out with my deck. I know my Badlands will not be replaced (wouldn't it be great if they threw in a Dual Land!). Okay, I have returned to reality now...
they didn't do it on purpose because the guy that released got arrested and they are saying the spoilers aren't real
Links to articles to prove that? if those spoilers arent real, then why are some of the major sellers already using the names and text in their preorders? maybe they were tricked like the rest of us...
i'm all for nostalgia, but seriously dude; if you think the first three sets were the best (and simply because of the broken cards within them), you have the most one-dimensional appreciation of magic i've ever come across.
Of course I am only calling them the best due to their power. Dont accuse me of being one dimensional, though, because there are two different words that I used. One was 'best' and the other was 'favorite'. I called Mirrodin my favorite. It had power, story and was fun to play with the mechanics from that block. I played more during that block than ever before or even since it dropped out.
One dimensional? No, you misinterpreted my meaning, but its all good.
Gatt is probably right. This may end up Urzas 2.0 (and its already Mirrodin 2.0 :D).
Seriously, when WOTC has made artifact heavy sets, they make broken cards left and right. All of the free mechanics and making normally colored abilities colorless ends up making broken cards and combos. There are several infinite combos and quick kills just waiting to be discovered!

This isnt spam is it? If it is, I'm sorry your highness, maybe I should have read the other 28 pages first before putting in my 2 cents...
Yeah, technically my B/R Reanimator also has White with Akroma, but she can't be hard cast.
