I quit during Onslaught block and resumed playing in Zendikar, but have a very keen interest in knowing about Mirrodin + the adventures of Glissa and friends. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
Just recently purchased some mystics for a casual deck that has some equipment. On using them for the first time, I soon realized why people say they're good. Very strong card (as long as she isn't killed right away).
People who use it become black colored creatures?
(not being racist :))
Perhaps No-Dachi belongs there too.
All this Kamigawa talk reminds me of a friend who lost a Pithing Needle and a near mint Kira, Great Glass-Spinner a few days ago. We've not given up hope and will do a more thorough search of the house in the weekend.

I guess it could work if you build a casual deck around him..
Maybe I just got used to Zendikar's -easier to use large creatures- a little too much, that giant casting costs = giant creatures with annihilator.
Interesting info.
Well, there are indeed some fun cards (not overpowered like Jitte) in Kamigawa like the Shuriken. It caused some debates in my playgroup though, why the shuriken are drawn like kunai instead of the usual throwing stars that most people are familiar with.

It's a nice primer.
Did some minor changes, added 4 PoN as protection spells, there's someone whom I could get Pacts from in case I would seriously build this deck. Being free is an advantage. This deck need every bit of mana it can get.
A little unsure on the lands, I used Ebon Stronghold in the original Sac Land Tendrils deck and those worked just fine. Well, testing will tell if the ES are not needed in this deck.
Completely agree on that. Being forced to use the Petal or Manamorphose to cast an off color protection spell isn't good, the few color fixing spells that we have is better used for helping to cast other things.
It does feel tempting to use a lot of those lands in a token deck.
Fully agree on that. During Alara-Zendikar standard.. I often got hit by a Hellspark Elemental powered up by a Teetering Peeks. Teetering Peaks seems weak and come into play tapped, but in the right deck it's strong.
Glad that I didn't buy those overpriced duel deck Rancors from a shop some months ago.
The Gorgon's Flail are still too strong for some people in my casual playgroup, so I changed them to Spectral Flight.
4 Phyrexian Ironfoot
4 Blizzard Specter
4 Frost Raptor
1 Rimefeather Owl
1 Balduvian Frostwalker
2 Vexing Sphinx
4 Ponder
4 Ice Cage
4 Frozen Solid
3 Chill to the Bone
3 Spectral Flight
6 Snow Covered Swamp
4 Frost Marsh
2 Scrying Sheets
4 Blue Elemental Blast
4 Ratchet Bomb
4 Deathmark
3 Gorgon's Flail
A little update, the Scrying Sheets are amazing. At end of opponent's turn, use the sheets for a chance to take an extra snow card.
It's a fun draw engine, I'm considering to up the count to 3.
About Vexing Sphinx. The ability to "filter" away extra lands from my hand is good. But discarding away lands makes Rimefeather Owl (if I draw it) stay long in my hand..
And lastly, considering to add more Snow covered swamp to increase the chances of casting Rimebound Dead on turn 1. Often I have no black, or my black source is a marsh so Rimebound Dead gets cast on turn 2 instead of turn 1.
Regarding power creep, there has been multiple threads about it and my answer will always be the same. Don't care about it.
A single Beastmaster Ascension could be an alternative to Coat of Arms, lower casting cost and doesn't power up your opponent's creatures. The downside is it doesn't immediately give the bonus.
If opponent has enough creatures to block all my creatures, and all I have aside from the angel are five 1/1's.. I would prefer sending in a giant attacker where my opponent would potentially lose one of his/her creatures from blocking. If I have 3/3's + 4/3 angel and all my opponent has are 1/1's, I'd send most of my creatures in the offensive - holding back a few for blocking purposes. Those are just two examples.. it really depends on the board state, what creatures opponent has, what bunch of creatures I have available, etc.
Whatever, I'm going to get 4 of these once M13 is released.
Better to already have a playset while thinking which deck to place them.
Took them out of the main deck, and replaced with Gorgon's Flail. I want my small flyers to at least be able to trade with a larger flyer. Placed the strong equipment in the sideboard, and will only use them on game 2 if my opponent's deck has some very strong modifications added to it.
I like the Rimebound Dead idea, since the deck seriously lacks one mana creatures for defending. Thanks for suggesting it.

Well, I'm building this deck because two of my cousins and a facebook friend only have precons and Standard decks. Using my Zoo deck against them is quite unfair. Often have to make "intentional play mistakes" such as forgetting to attack or forgetting to cast some spells so their decks could win. At least with this underpowered deck, I could go all in and not feel guilty about it.
