I quit during Onslaught block and resumed playing in Zendikar, but have a very keen interest in knowing about Mirrodin + the adventures of Glissa and friends. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
I don't play Standard, but got many semi-strong cards to fill up casual decks.
Flavor: 9.5/10
Haven't seen so many horror references before. The fly, doll, lightning on top of haunted house, mad scientists, cellar, barring the door so zombies can't come in.. I could go on. Add a strong cast of werewolves, vampires, zombies, and angels vs demons. I'm simply amazed.
Overall Score of the set: 9/10 (8 + 9.5, divide by 2 then rounded up)
-1 Chilling Shade +1 Balduvian Frostwalker
Don't worry much about Pyroclasm or sweepers. As I mentioned in intro, this deck would be used to fight mostly against precons, so there won't be much sweepers.
4 Phyrexian Ironfoot
4 Blizzard Specter
4 Frost Raptor
1 Rimefeather Owl
1 Balduvian Frostwalker
2 Vexing Sphinx
4 Ice Cage
4 Frozen Solid
3 Chill to the Bone
2 Umezawa's Jitte
1 Sword of Fire and Ice
6 Snow Covered Swamp
4 Frost Marsh
2 Scrying Sheets
EDIT: I would also like opinions regarding the power level of the deck. Is it too strong for the recent precons today. Equipment should be removed? Or is the power level just fine?

Look at the soratami (race of people where Tamiyo, the Moon Sage belongs) a good majority of the cards have abilities that are overcosted and almost unusable. Takeno, Samurai General is a significant character in the plot, but his card is a 3/3 that cost 6 mana. I could go on.. but there's simply too many Kamigawa cards that fall into those categories, underpowered for their mana cost or abilities that are near unusable.
If they ever revisit it someday, I hope Wizards give the return to Kamigawa block the same power level as Scars of Mirrodin.
The deck takes it's name from the background music used in Ice Dungeon map in Ragnarok Online.
You might feel chilled a little when listening.

Introduction:
This deck plays a very simple strategy of trying to survive an opponent's initial creature assault by using ground creatures. After stabilizing, it tries to win by using flying snow creatures supported by a handful of enchantments. Some spells and creatures seem underpowered, why? It's because I plan to use the deck in playing against friends who are on a small budget or only have standard preconstructed decks, so Yetit Petit only has few strong cards like a single Frost Titan.
Defense:
Rimebound Dead - one mana creature that's useful as a blocker.
Phyrexian Ironfoot - another creature for defense purposes, 3 for a 3/4 is a good deal. And it can be untapped anytime as long as mana is available.
Rimewind Taskmage - not very good in blocking, but can prove useful in mid to late game when there's enough snow permanents for his ability.
Ice Cage - two mana for stopping an early creature.
Frozen Solid - costs one more, but better than Ice Cage because creatures can't escape easily from it.
Chill to the Bone - the deck's removal. Costs 4 mana, but can hit most creatures.
Ice Floe - can be used to stop a single dangerous non-flying creature for a long time.
Mouth of Ronom - direct damage to finish off a creature with or 4 less toughness.
Offense:
Blizzard Specter - the main attacker, it's ability to return opponent's creatures is valuable.
Frost Raptor - costs only 3 mana, and can protect itself from targetted removal.
Balduvian Frostwalker - probably one of the stronger cards in the deck. Can turn a snow land into a flying 2/2 creature, and the effect has no duration. It doesn't end at end of turn.
Frost Titan - strong card for the late game.
Rimefeather Owl - like the titan, this is also a strong card for the late game.
Rime Transfusion - an enchantment that fits nicely in a snow deck.
Card draw:
Scrying Sheets - most of the spells in the deck are snow, so this is useful.
Sleight of Hand - adds some card advantage to the deck.
Land:
Snow Covered Island
Snow Covered Swamps
Frost Marsh
Deck List:
4 Phyrexian Ironfoot
4 Blizzard Specter
4 Frost Raptor
1 Rimefeather Owl
1 Frost Titan
1 Balduvian Frostwalker
1 Rimewind Taskmage
4 Ice Cage
3 Frozen Solid
3 Chill to the Bone
3 Rime Transfusion
8 Snow Covered Island
8 Snow Covered Swamp
4 Frost Marsh
2 Scrying Sheets
1 Mouth of Ronom
1 Ice Floe
If there's anymore good snow spells for this deck that you know, I would like to know.
Help is appreciated. Only Legacy legal cards please.
Thanks for the clarification.
Have been using the angel as a means for recurring comes into player effects (and sometimes saving from death).. walls, stoneforge, and sometimes the lone cartographer in my casual deck. Needed to be certain about the rules.
Restoration Angel + Wall of Omens vs. Smother = wall survives.

Restoration Angel + Kor Cartographer vs. Day of Judgment = angel and cartographer both die

Now, here's a final question.
If I have a Stoneforge Mystic in play, and opponent casts an instant speed mass removal like Consume the Meek. Would the mystic survive if I cast Restoration Angel in response to Consume the Meek?
Really sorry for the late reply.
I was busy attending an anime convention, and some things that came after that.
Thanks for all the efforts to improve the strategy.
I'm not a combo player so it's a little hard for me to follow something written like that. One more time. Please tell if I make mistake in translating it.
Sac Geothermal + Gemstone Mine for BGB.
1) DR BBBGB = Dark Ritual BBBGB total mana available
2) DD DD Finding IU/LP/DR/DR/ToA BG = Doomsday finding Ideas Unbound, Lotus Petal, Dark Ritual, Dark Ritual, Tendrils of Agony.
3) MM for UU. Drawing IU. = Manamorphose to produce UU
4) IU drawing LP/DR/DR = Ideas Unbound draws Petal and two Dark Rituals
5) LP = casted Lotus Petal?
6) DR Lp for b. BBB = Dark Ritual, sac Petal for B, total mana = BBB
7) DR BBBBB = Dark Ritual, total mana is BBBBB
8) GP = Gitaxian Probe
9) ToA = Tendrils for 18 damage.
The Manamorphose used in step 3 is already in the opening hand, right?
A little complicated, but I'm starting to like it.
I haven't seen any other lammasu in mtg.
War Priest of Thune has an effect similar to Kami of Ancient Law, and the priest doesn't have to sacrifice itself.
Will order some lens for use as sideboard card.
*thread saved to favorites for future reference
EDIT:
Ok, saw the things you added to your post. Will take note of that.
Would Thran Lens be able to protect my white creatures (stoneforge, angels) from a card like Virtue's Ruin. Also from a card like All is Dust?
If the lens could protect my creatures, then I'm buying a playset for our tribal wars casual games.
