    posted a message on Gentlemen, Online MagicTG doesn't work and here is why.
    Bruh. The introduction of formats was specifically to identify limitations on cards. I've been there when it used to be the Wild Wild West of cards. It wasn't very fun. Back then, they had this thing called ante, and it made playing a huge risk. Are you gonna walk away with less cards?

    At no point has playing Magic been about who and what cards can be played, except around a kitchen table where it is a friendly gentleman's agreement about what can be brought. If you're looking for the kitchen table experience, Arena will never be it. I understand not liking playing against certain cards, but the majority are going to bring what wins. If you don't have an answer for those cards, then, yes, you're gonna lose and lose a lot. Arena forces you to be part of the meta, just like any other format.

    At this point, after reading several of your threads, I think your expectations are way, way weird. Just accept that online magic isn't going to be your happy table experience where you can dictate what not to play against. I highly doubt wizards is going to change.

    posted a message on Modern Horizons (Updated)
    So, WPN just sent out their e-mail, announcing this set. Not a whole heck of a lot to add, other than the booster boxes will be 36 count, which makes it even more different than a Masters set. Might even keep the price around $3.99?

    posted a message on Bought LP Beta, got a signed one.
    I've never really understood the idea by getting an artist to sign it as "damaged." It's not like it fully kills the card to the point of structural integrity. Also, depending on the size of the signature, I would rate it as LP or MP. It's not worse than the marking from a GP draft most of the time. Personally, I love getting artist signatures and value cards with a signature moreso because of the work into getting them that way.

    As for your situation, I'd have to say that you'd be in your rights to write a nicely worded e-mail letting them know that you did receive a card in a condition different than what you expected. Overall? I don't think it's a huge deal if the card is really in LP condition. And really, how often are you going to find a signed Beta card? I'd feel lucky, honestly.

    Great tips, Stoogeslap. If you wanna go all in on the text box, choose lands. We know what they do. So should novices. Smile

    posted a message on Teaching kid Magic with Battlebond
    I've been playing with my kid since he was 8 (now 10). 2HG is often a great time for learning and bonding. A lot of players who play 2HG are more casual and are often willing to take the time to play with this. You'll have to build the two decks, so get quick at it. The good thing is you can tailor his deck to his play style. Definitely, if you know the people playing, they'll probably be decent. We love to teach new players and taking time during 2HG is perfect for it. I'd give it a shot. Battlebond looks like so much fun. Really, as long as he knows how the turn structure and casting spells works, he's easily able to play with you.

    I totally got some scans....These are awesome, Grant1. Is there a specific reason there are 5 of the Islands, Swamps, and Mountains and only four of the Forest and Plains? I mean, it's totally cool either way! I'm hoping that I almost have enough cards to prepare

    Also, Roon is just awesome!

    Thank you for the Command Sphere, Bob the Funny!

    posted a message on Advantage to having kids
    Well, I've been following this thread and want to put my two cents in.

    I agree with everyone who says that if you have to be conned into having a child, don't have one. If you're not ready and do not want one, do not have one. Don't let anyone "convince" you to have one, as it will only lead to issues further down the line.

    OP, no one is going to be able to convince you. There's no reason to. Your arguments are all quite valid to yourself, and that's all that matters. Only if you, and only you, can say to yourself, "I think the benefits of this situation outweigh the costs I've outlined," will you ever feel right about having kids. You shouldn't have to feel like you should have one, even if your wife does. I say this from firsthand experience.

    Quote from Tormod
    Just curious.

    Any parents out there that regret being parents?

    Let's keep that honesty thing going. For quite a long time, I did. I made the mistake of conceding to my wife that it was the right time to have a child. I didn't feel quite ready yet and told myself that I would be ready in the interceding 9 months. I was scared of being a father, having helped out exceedingly with my sister who is 12 years younger than myself. I hated the experience. I really quite hated kids as it was and didn't want one.

    However, I knew my wife wanted a child. She felt ready and that it was the right time. I knew it would be a thorn in my side, so I acquiesced, hoping my feelings would get better. They never did. I hated all the time my wife was pregnant (a nasty side effect of having kids) and didn't really enjoy the birthing. It was stressful and awful. I felt a little happier with my child in my arms though.

    Through some awful economic-based issues, I ended up being a stay-at-home father. I had to raise my son, not my wife like we had discussed. I hated it. I hated him. I couldn't stand him. I took care of him, but more like someone at a daycare would. He was fed, clothed, changed, entertained, but I did it out of duty, not out of love and caring. He was never abused, but I'm sure I could've been a more caring parent.

    I completely and utterly regretted my decision to have a kid. I came very close to leaving him and my wife behind. I hated myself for letting her con me into having the child. I didn't want him and now I was taking care of him full time? Regrets. Always regrets.

    But he slowly got older and became a little more self-sufficient. I could communicate with him and soon came to enjoy watching him learn and grow. He started spending some time at daycare, giving me the ability to have a break from him. Now, honestly, I'm glad I had him, because I enjoy many of the other feelings the other parents posting in this thread do. But, to be very honest, it took two or three years before I stopped regretting my decision to have him. Now, he's generally a source of pride and joy, but not all the time. And sometimes, during those times he's being a little ****, I still have those times where I wish it was just me and my wife.

    TL;DR: I agreed to have a kid when I wasn't ready. I regretted that decision for a long time. I now enjoy my kid, but it just about cost me my relationship with my wife.

    @Clan of the Year: Huzzah! Go us!

    @Snow: WE STILL DON'T HAVE ANY!!! GRAAAAAAAAAR! This is my favorite time of year as we usually have around a foot or more of snow (it starts in late October), but it's been warm and clear for the last couple of weeks. I don't want to have a brown Christmas!

    @Holiday Exchange: I sent out my cards to Galspanic yesterday. I'll post pictures here when they get received on the other end. Once again, my whole family participated and 13 cards were shipped out. 5 tokens by my 4 year old, 6 from me (including a recent cycle and a promo dressed up in holiday spirit), and 2 from my wife, using her customary favorite creature (a dragon!) and another promo.

    @Kahedron: Huzzah! Glad you won.

    @Digi: Congrats to you too!

    @Stardust: Yay! Awesome sigs! Go you!

    @Mafia: Why wasn't I invited? I'm still a member....:crying: Am I not cool enough to play a Crafters Mafia? Pweeeeease?
