Also, Hazoret can help dump your hand of the last few cards you need to pitch to get her online. So Constrictor isn't a necessary piece for purely pitching cards, though it does help in the early game.
Lupine is also a good early game and late game draw in this deck, whereas you don't really want to be drawing into Constrictors in late game very often (except for discard fodder I suppose). If you don't have any of the Minotaurs in hand to drop down, it gets Rhonas online. If you need to crew HOK it gets that done. Lupine's problem has always been how to usefully use one in the early game, and this deck situated that. At worst it's a late game 5/5 for 2 and that's not bad at all.
I'm going to be testing this out with no constrictors and 3 Lupines and see how it fairs.
Hey guys, I've been tinkering around with this deck over the last week or so. I can edit this post with my list shortly, but I wanted to bring up a card that I haven't seen talked about much in this deck discussion.
Lifecrafter's Bestiary seems like a great include, to me. It's a 3 cost non-creature artifact, so big plus there for our strat. With the Inspector out on the field it can come down inexpensively. It doesn't do anything the turn it drops (unless you cast a creature afterwards which is totally doable), but it will sit on the field and scry us a card every turn afterward. Paying for the G in the ability cost is also very easy even in the mono U version of this deck, with all of the Prisms and Aether Hubs. What I like about it is that it is an artifact that helps us in our strategy, but also doesn't just sit there doing nothing every turn.
Any thoughts on this card? I think I'll add it to mine and test it out a bit.
I definitely think that Ulamog's Nullifier is a card worth considering in the Esper build of this deck, which is what I'll be brewing up I think. I'll get some testing in with it and see what I can see.
Also! Maybe even Wasteland Strangler to take advantage of the -3/-3 ability very easily since we'll often have something exiled to target with it. Seems synergistic and worth testing.
It's great early game, and it's great late game. It's a 2/3 Vigilance body for 2 cmc which is already very very good, but it's also very splashable. It doesn't say 6 Forests, it says 6 Lands. That makes a huge difference.
I think this card will see some considerable play, even without any massive land-creature support. Just by himself he's good, and if you have any man-lands that gets even better.
Personally I feel this deck wants to be primarily blue, and I agree that thopter spy assembly is just too good to pass on. Red parents has a place in a red version of this deck while shrapnel blast is still here, but I feel that would be a different shell than this.
Has anyone thought of using Stratus Dancer in their mono blue builds? Or any build, really. I just added him to my list last night as a 3 of and am going to test it out shortly. I can post my list a bit later today, but I wanted to see other's thoughts as well.
Seems like a great utility creature, and is a good target for Ghostfire Blade pre megamorph.
Exava into this with domri down seems pretty rough for an opponent without removal in hand, and if they do have the removal, they have no choice but to play it...

Very very good card.

Cheaper on the wallet cus the community is overall disappointed.
I like it.
Wizards likes to develop top down. And I for one enjoy that.
Not lame at all.
Can use Xathrid Necromancer for whenever your 1/1 elementals die, until you're ready for the Dragonshift.
Mmmmm, helping Savageborn Hydra really get there on the next turn. Love it.
What about Glaring Spotlight?
Elvish Mystic, the mana Sliver, and Lay of the Land. RG ramp has always been my favorite.
Yep. Hello Domri Jund.
Delicious.
