As far as this current meta? Darkblasts and axes seem good. When snap pyro decks were in alot of us were using two axes main. Im out of the loop lately, but I cant see them not being useful against everything but tron storm and valakut.
Why was it so bad? I can believe it, but I'm trying to get a survay of peoples thoughts on it.
So our deck is faultering. Currently the meta is unkind to us too. Games are fast, we cant exactly interact, and the prime control and combo deck of the format use the yard so grave hate is high. Its basically a 2 punch KO for us.
That BR hallowone deck is basically all in dredge that isnt super weak to grave hate. I don't believe its as amazing of a deck as people think it is, its diff less consistent than us. But its faster and it doesnt roll over to hate...
We need new cards, something that makes us less soft to side hate, and something that helps us interact a bit more. Or if the meta shifts back to grind, well do just find.
Now the things on my eye for Rivals that came out is Twilight Prophet, Journey to Eternity // Atzal, Cave of Eternity, and Radiant Destiny.
Radiant Destiny doesn't make the cut, but I have a habit of picking up tribal cards that could should we ever go back to shadowmoor and scarecrows get buffed. As it stands... Reaper king is still best played as a good stuff deck, which brings us to prophet and Journey.
I doubt prophet is better than graveborn muse, which would be the natural swap. She draws on average 2 cards a turn, which is better than 1 and drain, but then again I havent read enough on prophet to know if shes just the new absurd card for black decks. Journey seems more like a good card, as it can go on reaper king to protect him, or something else for double the effects. A rainbow land never hurts, and neither does a recur effect that is mostly immune to dying in my friendly EDH group. But I'd love some input on these two cards, especially if anyone has played with em.
Scare crows also have two mana dorks you can abuse and make top decking not an issue because they'll vinicate, or you can recur them to have vindicate on sticks; Scuttlemutt and harvest.
If you want to spot any other neat tricks, check out my unofficial primer on Reaper King, since its my main deck which I update after a new sets release... aka what I'm doing right now :P. Its a theme deck, but there are some neat tricks in it.
