I think leylines are fine. They just very much are 3-4 or nothing in the board. They have been successful in the past, but you need to be sure its worth having. I remember once that Dredge, grixis, living end and storm were around a total of 20% thus making it a meta you wanted leyline for

In most lists, all the fetchable lands are Mountains, so it doesn't really matter if you run Arid Mesa, Scalding Tarn, Bloodstained Mire, or Wooded Foothills. I wouldn't run Verdant Catacombs unless you are trying a different build with basic Forest or something.

In some cases you can use the lands for pretend its the wrong deck. Run grixis fetches, run them out, turns out its a really bad hand, pick the cards up, the guy is now boarding vs the wrong deck.

Its not a huge edge, but I've done/seen it done before. Very situational. If you are a "normal" person and dont have every fetch land, then just buy the on color stuff for cheaper (and in case we ever start running basics.) If you have random fetches that fetch red. Sure what ever you got works. If you have all of em, run grixis colors to pretend you are a control deck if you get a terrible hand.

Why would one trade nacalt in big zoo? I mean, Ive done it for naya midrange. But like, those are reallllly not zoo.

I will not (unless arena turns into awesome... which it is currently not) because its basically standard commander, which I hate standard. It could be cool, but rotations plus price is a death sentence. If it was cheap because free to play arena, then sure, I will.

Might have our first playable Zoo card in a long while. Its a Wooly Thoctar that can't be chump blocked. GGG sucks, but its pretty close to RGW, so its more or less just an upgrade. I'm not sure it replaces Smiter as an option, but its beefy. Would have rather had trample, only dies to push really.

If you were in the market for a 3 drop that deals damage and doesnt want to be blocked, this fits the bill. like I said, upgrade and replaces thoctar. He wasnt seeing much play, but this makes him wholy irrelevant.

Adding Journey to Eternity / Atzal, Cave of Eternity and Viscera Seer, Muldrotha, the Gravetide, taking out Cauldron of Souls, Sorin Markov, Dragonlair Spider. This will lower the curve from a whopping 4.8 to 4 flat! Seer plays nicer with journey and gravetide better anyways, and cave is a rainbow land, which is really great for the 5 colors.

Seer can also be fetched and comboed off by hulk. I am hesitant to put this cheese in here, because I don't like going off hardcore combo town... but realistically, when I combo, I combo, so I might as well make the instawin combo less painful for my friends and over quicker.

Sorin was an all-star in his day... So I held on to him for years. 4 years to be exact. But hes just less good after power creep and infinite damage combos, 6 mana "turn someones life back to mostly normal" Theres more powerful stuff like constant Board exiles or repeatable recursion. Cauldron was good, but really only ever got 1 activation... if that. Its lackluster, and I got enough witches in the deck to justify cutting it. Dragonlair Spider NEVER lived... like ever. I just got dead after casting it. And it was always hard to cast because of the colors. So I dont mind cutting it.

Twilight Prophet was... not so good. It didnt really draw me any cards til late game, so graveborn was better... the drain never really changed the world either.

Hmmmm, a few things that haven't been mentioned yet...
Purphoros, God of the Forge, Reaper King, Prime Speaker Zegana (LOL!), and Tishana, Voice of Thunder are pretty sweet.

Reaper King is what I was coming into here to say. Its a fun way to blow up 25 things.

I agree. I dont think Phoenix is awesome. Maybe if it was 1r. Id strongly play it at r, because we could do muliple, but 2 extra damage for 3 might as well be devil. You are right.

Squees power is just too low for me. I love its effect, but it doesnt impact other than being sticky. If it auto returned Id use the hell out of it.

The saga I missed but I also dont know how great it is. Diff better with bridge, but its basically a bad cathartic reunion right? We are adding 2 damage to our conflags, and sometimes hitting for 3 with neonates.

So are we interested in a 3 mana 2/1 that can be cast in the yard and exile?

Or 3 mana flying haste birds?

Driven iz a tool against midrange and slow combo. If the meta isnt about that, its not the correct tool.
