I agree that limiting counterspells is the wrong way to go if you want your event and this format to grow. WoTC would never align with that if they ever made this a real format. All your players would ditch this niche format immediately if they did. Cheap countermagic and strong aggro control/tempo decks are a part of vintage formats.

Guru. Psssht. Once I get the cash I'm going to get all misscut and crimped summer edition basics and have them altered by Picasso via time machine.

Just picked these up. It's my first time owning either one.

Here is my list of adds so far. I'm moving up to 450 once this set is released. I think they should all have a shot at 360 with Dryad Militant being the only certified 360 staple at this point.

    Rakdos Shred-Freak
    Dryad Militant
    Jace, Architect of Thought
    Pack Rat
    Izzet Charm
    Dreadbore
    Lotleth Troll

I hope Pack Rat lives up to the hype its been getting here and I look forward to playing with it and against it. I really like the new Jace. He is not overly powerful and can't really take over the game per se but his -2 ability provides really good card selection and/or card advantage which is immediate. Magic is a game of incomplete information and sometimes your opponent will make a mistake to give you the card selection and the card advantage.

There are still the rumored cards, general impression of the set, discussion of the artworks, powerlevel of the guilds, the flavor of the set and similar topics left to be discussed here.

Well now your objective is clear and I can see why you started so many SCDs and MCDs with no discretion. I think we should vote on this as previously mentioned.

I would prefer a single thread as done previously. I would also prefer not to have this sub-forum flooded with SCDs and MCDs of every possible new cube card(s).

I prefer the simplicity of the old forum format. I can see the merit of having some scd and mcd threads but not for every single possible cube card that gets printed. I see no problem with discussing the entire set in one thread and then letting in naturally branch out from there.

I strongly vote no on getting pk3 cards altered. The white borders make them stand out from the rest of the cube but that's fine because they are so rare and expensive. I think most of your alters are pretty sweet and are probably worth > or = to their original value. If you alter your Imperial Seal it will significantly decrease its value and that's not very pimp in my pimp book.

    New stuff!!!

Old frame foils. I love them.
I picked this up for only $5 from trollandtoad because it was the same price as a non signed one. It's the only signed card I have in my cube but I plan to get some more. I like this sig a lot.
I only have 6 more dual lands and City of Brass to go for an all black border cube.

There are a limited amount of Beta, early expansion and old frame foils and the percentage of new frame and alternate art promos is just going to get larger. I will always chose the original art in the old frame over anything else. Plow Under is an example where I like the new art but the old frame trumps it. In the case of pack foil Vindicate vs the promo I think the pack foil is more pimp and aesthetically pleasing.

I like Sphinx more than Morphling and it's not even close. Morphling is not a boss until you untap with it in play. Your opponents next turn after you play your finisher is key and there are a lot of ways to push past a Morphling with only 1 mana open. The Sphinx comes down and you don't have to worry about removal and or 3 power creatures. The Sphinx is also a much better reanimation target.

Morphling is no longer Superman. Now he's just Clark Kent.

Or you could get the FNM Jackal Pup. I'm not a big fan of promo cards but I can respect the older ones that have the old card frame and the original artwork. Plus they don't have that ugly FNM or DCI stamp in the middle of the textbox.

Some old frame foils. I have no clue why they ever changed it.

I started playing during Revised and Ice Age so I love playing with the original cards from that time. It brings me back to all the good times I used to have playing magic. Sometime around TSE which was 97/98 my friend and I (who I still cube with) would do our own version of what is now cubing. We would go through our collections and randomly toss cards we liked into a big pile and that would be our cube for the day. The colors were balanced by us eyeballing the big pile of face up cards and guessing which colors needed more cards.
