I can't remember. Did the console versions come out the same time as the steam release in the past?

    If not, how much later?

I'll tell Akroma, Angel of Wrath you said hello.

Hmmm. Didn't realize haste didn't have an immediate effect. Or that protection from 2 of the most relevant removal colors wasn't any sort of protection?

Its like Wurmcoil except it costs 1 more, doesn't have Deathtouch, must be in Blue and White, dies to Dismember, and doesn't get you 2 tokens when it dies.

This. I do agree that heartless summoning works alright with this but the same argument still applies: wurmcoil and titans are also awesome with heartless summoning. Then you'll get the typical "dies to x removal, so when x rotates this will be great!" or "not as good as y, so when y rotates this will be great!" Unfortuantely, these cards that rotate usually get replaced with something of close to equal power levels. So this card will probably suffer from "dies to Decapitate (made up name)" or "not as good as m13 Demigod cycle (made up name)" after rotation anyways.

It doesn't affect the card numbers but it does increase the total number of actual cards in the set.

Right but people are saying "that explains the 15 extra cards!" etc.

I don't know why everyone keeps saying the set size is going to be affected by this. The cards have the same number with an 'a' and 'b'! It literally does not affect the set size at all.

I think an interesting point that no one has brought up is how this might work with other tribes. I highly doubt the night/day mechanic would be this big and complicated and only apply to the green/red tribe. However, vampires can't turn back and forth from human to vampire, so I wouldn't be surprised to see some very different twists on this mechanic (vamps can't be out during the day etc). Should be interesting.

How has no one brought up Clue!? That movie ruled.

But yeah. The problem is that to be commercially successful the movie would be directed towards a very young audience. Very rarely does that yield positive results in quality storytelling...

They've been building this block up like a horror movie. In horror movies, near the end, things seems hopeless...the monster is getting more and more dangerous, and more and more people have been killed. It seems like even the main characters are going to lose too, but then, just near the end, they prevail! They find a way to defeat the monster, and they are saved. It's not necessarily a happy ending though, many people were killed just because some monster felt like killing people. That's exactly what Scars of Mirrodin is like, so New Phyrexia would be extremely disappointing.

In some fairness that's how horror movies USED to end. Lately the monsters appear dead and then usually catch the last one or two kids at the very last moment. Its called false hope, which is EXACTLY what MP is supposed to be.

Either way I'm agreeing with the camp that I'm starting to care a lot less about this "secret." Showing us the next block has made just want to be past all this nonsense and into something less annoying.

I loled a little at this, so you understand the fantasy means of the word Whispered but obviously do not understand the super natural power of "sly" beings, such as being very large but quick? or light footed? Clearly she's some sort of spider or multilegged thing, which distributes weight making it easy to run around quicky, and most likely quietly. She's also probably the blue praetor, which is another reason she is called the whispered one. If she's not then she's the black one, but i find it harder to believe.

She's confirmed from the Praetor information included in the fat packs (i think it was in the fat pack at least...) to be the black Praetor. These Praetors have so much flavor and character that I really hope this one small set isn't the last we see of them.

    Quote from Lord Erman
Because of many reasons, I believe that the next set will be New Phyrexia and the only Mirran cards we will have in the set will be a bunch of artifacts and equipment. I believe that there will be no Mirran living being will be left on Mirrodin, and Phyrexia will complete its invasion.

So I was thinking about the Mirrans (considering what I wrote above will eventually happen). Will they all be killed? Or is there a way out for the survivors? And right at that point I remembered the webcomic about Koth's first meeting with Venser.

Here's the link if you missed that one: Gathering Forces, Part III.

There Venser tells Koth that he's working on a ship that can transport people between planes (people who aren't planeswalkers). There Venser says "Adapt Phyrexian technology. Send ships between planes". And those ships in my opinion are how the Mirrans will flee from the Phyrexian invasion on Mirrodin. Venser will rescue them and transport them on a different and safe plane.

And then what? We will most probably start seeing Phyrexia attacking to different planes and invading them, and I believe that at the end a band of heroes will unite and fight them. First they will stop their invasion and then will manage to drive them back to Mirrodin.

And finally after six or seven blocks in which we will witness the war between the good and the bad, I believe that Venser will start sending Mirran troops back to Mirrodin; so I believe that we will once again visit Mirrodin after six or seven years from now on.

The Mirrans will arrive to Mirrodin and with the help of their old tools and artifacts which are scattered around and rusting, they will start their resistence against Phyrexia. I also think that the last set of that future block will be Mirrodin Pure!

So yeah, that's all. What do you think? Does it all make sense or do you think I'm just dreaming (it could easily be the latter)?

    LE

Hate to burst your bubble, but we already know there are more mirran cards than artifacts/equipments. We have the art and name for Geosurge, which is a mirran card. Also the odds of Melira being printed are insanely high. Now that certainly doesn't mean that the Mirrans win, but...

sigh. this is such a simple answer. oxid ridge is better against ramp and u/w control. Koth is better against any decks with red or black (disfigure now has yet another amazing target, it should start seeing more play). its called a sideboard, use it.

It's not speculation, at the Star City Games Open in Indianapolis this card sold out quick which caused it to jump in price, 2 of the top 16 decks (1 of the top 8) had 4 in the main deck. I have been play testing the card in Kuldotha Red for a couple of days now and think that it works pretty well, I mean it's kind of a moot point in the mirror but otherwise its a pretty awesome card, pick up a set or 2 before people at your LGS realize its pretty good.

Where are the lists for this event? I've also speculated it'd be useful and have been happy to see this come true. Unfortunately it happened at an event I can't find the lists for!

Please reread your timelines, Phyrexia had one leader and one leader only: Yawgmoth.

    http://wiki.mtgsalvation.com/article/Timeline

It was the Father of Machines that held Phyrexia together by the flayed flesh. It was the will of that monstrosity that enabled their literal machinations to be successful in the first place.

Now that you have Sheoldred, Vorinclex, Jin-Gitaxias, Elesh Norn, and Urabrask all pulling at Karn's ear for what they think should be the Phyrexian utopia.

There is no central leadership for this phyrexia, much like a hubless wheel.

Hence why they are pushing Karn to become the new Father of Machines again. The whole story hinges on him. If he becomes the new Father of Machines, the phyrexian factions will all unite under him and obviously our next set will be New Phyrexia. If he is saved, overpowers the corruption, etc. the phyrexian factions will battle internally, yada yada yada.

Yeah its VERY clear at this point that captain black was indeed not just "guessing." I wonder how close some of the things are supposed to be to the original (does the black zenith count as Death Cloud, etc?).

CaptainBlack also said me this today:

"That was a random list of cards I generated from the reprint theory based on information already in the public domain with a couple of obv. two exceptions.

Even my wildest stabs in the dark seem to be hitting home, which is mildly annoying!

The thread I started in Speculation was exactly that: speculation. Thus my lack of continued imput into the discussion."

I'm totally confused. Doesn't this imply that he really was just throwing random cards out there? Doesn't that make this list null and void? I know who captain black is and his history, etc. But he does make a point: he's never been this quiet about a riddle for so long before. Maybe it is a coincidence?
