This is my first Commander deck, and I know it's pretty ambitious since I'm a newcomer to the format. This deck is based on a Commander deck by Luis Scott-Vargas. I've changed the lands around, but I'm not sure if the mana base will support the rest of the deck. Also, since Painter's Servant is banned, I need to find a good replacement. The deck focuses on Reaper King's second ability while he buffs up Scarecrows for some straight-up combat damage. Any and all advice is welcomed and encouraged! Also, feel free to ask me questions; I'll never learn if I don't have to analyze my choices.
Very true! I still think the Lairs can be useful if you're on a budget and need lots of colors, but I think I'm going to go with the Ravnica shocklands for now. I'll try out the Lairs if those end up not working out for me.
Thank you for the quick reply and the great advice. I always liked the lairs, myself, but I think that was more the fact that none of my friends had ever heard of them. I don't think it will be a problem to get my hands on the duals. Thanks again!
I'm trying out Commander for the first time, and I wanted to know if the gate-tutoring capabilities of Maze's End (to fish out cards like Azorius Guildgate) work better than just using the Revised dual lands (like Tundra) or Lair lands (like Dromar's Cavern). I know the Guildgates will be a better budget alternative, and I already own one of each Lair as well as a few Revised duals, but I wasn't sure which types will work best in the format when dealing with a 5-color Commander. Thank you in advance!
Hey guys, I've been gone for a while, and was trying to get caught back up on some of the new cards from SoM and beyond. I re-read the primer (as everyone should make sure and do at least once week ), and I'm going to give the new basic build on there a test drive. I just moved a couple of months ago so I'm not sure what my Legacy meta is going to be like here. It's good to be back!
Hey guys, sorry for the long absence. I'm back from deployment and finally looking to try and find some actual Legacy games in my area. I've been getting a couple of friends into Legacy, and they absolutely clean house with my Burn deck. Burn was my first introduction to Legacy, and I love every minute of it!
Glad to see the primer got updated! Good work on it, urdjur! And I'm not just saying that b/c you payed me insane amounts of money to help you out...lol.
(I didn't really get paid any money, but I wouldn't have turned it down, either. :D)
There are no planeswalkers in Red that belong in Legacy. This has been stated time and time again, with reasons for each, along with plenty of the other cards in your list. Please take the time to read the primer...it's there for a reason.
uberdylan was correct. About the only things that we have to deal with Leyline right now is Ratchet Bomb and Anarchy. Which one you'd prefer is up to you, but I'm running the Bomb as it hits all those problem enchantments, no matter the color.
I'm currently running 2 Wurmcoil Engine and 2 Inferno Titan alongside my 3 Avengers and 4 P-Titans. I'm only running 2 Battlements, but I'm pretty new to the archetype and I'm basically testing the waters to see how much I'll enjoy it, and how successful it is in my meta.
I've used these forums for many things and i finally had a questions i couldn't find anywhere so i made an account and here i am. So, nice to meet everyone.

Yeah, I just saw this deck @ WallyWorld today, but even as a Burn lover, I can't bring myself to buy it. =(

Stax, for one.
