i was thinking on building this deck, need ideas on how it could inprove. i'm not putting path to exile though.
4x sun titan
4x liliana's specter
4x wall of omens
4x fleshbag marauder
4x inquisition of kozilek
4x mind rot
4x day of judgment
4x oblivion ring
2x doom blade
2x armilary sphere
1x mind sludge
-
4x tectonic edge
4x evolving wilds
3x arcane sanctum
6x plains
6x swamp
-
sideboard
2x doom blade
2x celestial purge
3x duress
3x solemn offering
3x vampire hexmage
2x pithing needle
basically you make them discard as much as you can while controlling the board. use the sun titan to get back you omens to draw, your specters to make them discard, your marauders to make them sacrifice their creatures, and your ob. rings to remove other stuff.
1. Please use decktags in the future.
2. Please post this in the correct forum (Standard deck creation).
3. Before posting this there, look to see if a B/W control thread already exists there (hint: it does)
yup, you're right...
i already tryed it with the amulets though, i didn't like it.
but the reason why i splashed white was for the removal. i just can't let myself open like that , i need the path, unless there was some other good removal that i can use?
the deck works very simply by stopping creatures with the wall, elders, path, and dust. searches for the cloudpost with the scrying and the map. and kills you in various ways with the big guys.
i've kinda played it a little bit and it deffenately gets enough many to even use the spawnsire's second ability, plus with all the card advantage you'll be able to get whatever you need.
type two gifts ungiven was the ☺☺☺☺!!!
one of my favorite decks of all time because it was so fun
not only where they're many different kill conditions but various versions of the deck.
plus it was four colors, sometimes five. depending what you where doing.
you're all getting carried away with this, the creature needs to be usefull, helpful, playable in various formats, and can very well change the entire deck that it's placed in.
some of these cards are awesome, and i like all of them but they don't hold their ground on their own, like witness, shes helpful, but not a beast. and dreadnaught is only good because there's a card called stiffle.
and a lot of you are focusing on newer cards, yes there incredible, but what about the classics.
ok, so meddling mage i wasn't even sure about when i put it there, that i'll give you guys. but you're over estimating exalted angel, and yes baneslayer is awesome but it's too new and has only seen play in few decks to say it's better, plus exalted comes to play a turn earlier with morph.
how is noble hierarch better than birds of paradise, they're almost the same thing, and birds was first. if anything they tie for a spot.
plus i think it's not about what creature you can make a deck out of, it's how many decks this creature can be great in.
some of those creatures are great but you have to back them up with stuff, that's why tarmogoyf is number one, because he backs up the deck and can even be reliable as a win condition by itself like in legacy threshold.
i stand by my top four cards.
recently i read a thread about the top five creatures of mtg, so i decided to put my top five out there. i think that the best creatures should not only have a history but also be so good that their ability to appear in many decks is overwhelming.
#4 - dark confidant : because some decks just splash black so they can play this amazing card.
#3 - exalted angel : because not only used in control but as well as aggro, this awesome creature will keep you in the game as well as do some serious damage.
#2 - birds of paradise : i don't think i need to say more about this timeless card, that has been at the peek of it's performance since first printed.
#1 - tarmogoyf : because even though it's a fairly new card, it's ridiculousness has put it in any deck with green in it, and we can all expect even more greatness in the future from tarmogoyf.
turn 1
land + lotus petal...play flash into iname, death aspect, put all your black spirits into your graveyard.
turn 2
dark ritual, floating three, use one for amulet of vigor, them play crypt of agadeem, use your remaining two for activation of the crypt and play your emrakul.
of course i don't think this would make a good deck, but i just thought it would be a fun way of getting him out turn two

blut
1x emrakul
1x colossus
1x progenitus
4x awakening zone
1-2 garruk
in general some counters, lots of draw, some sort of protection like bounce, for your lands add khalni garden, and your polymorphs.
i don't recommend red for this type of thing. i also tried to do this deck.
good luck
i don't think you guys care anymore but i remember reading that linvala was a newer angel, a new generation angel or something like that. not as old as iona or some of the other ones. the old angels fought against the eldrazi, they changed like you said, and the halos over their eyes are to block out the destruction that they saw on those days, and she doesn't have that because she didn't see it.

#5 - meddling mage : because it's a combination of two great cards, pithing needle + isamura, hound of konda. and used in it's glory days as well as now that it has been reprinted.
#4 - dark confidant : because some decks just splash black so they can play this amazing card.
#3 - exalted angel : because not only used in control but as well as aggro, this awesome creature will keep you in the game as well as do some serious damage.
