"With all of that said, I was curious about what you think the matchups for your build are. Does everyone just play a bad build of Affinity at NG? :grin2:" - BTape

Let's say I didn't curve out my deck and have not been testing it for hours each day, I could still roll up to anyone and post an impressive win/loss percentage based on shear playing skill. I know the Ins/Outs of this type of deck to the point where every time I draw it seems like a top deck. Maybe I just mise more than most, unlikely, or maybe I just know how the deck plays out. It could be that I have a mind for number crunching and can figure out my draws.

As for the playing at Neutral Ground, go there and play before you say anything about the quality and caliber of those there. Plus I know people with crap ratings that just don't play often at the big venues that still trowdown with pro's and hold their own.....oh yeah and I like Big Red

First thing first, I was posting seriously not for fun. Next, the Neko-te is a control element that just needs to deal any kind of damage therefore doing tricks like these; equip to Frostling and sacrifice him to tap a creature for an extended period of time, same for Vulshok Sorcerer, Arc-Slogger, Kumano. All that is relevent is damage, not "combat damage", and that the equipment stays in play. Lastly, the Shrapnel Blasts are used as quick finishers against other control decks, they earn their keep based on the fact that they take out dragons in one shot or speed up the demise of your opponent with less cards. And sure, the Neko-te could be fodder for the Shrapnel Blast at some point, as could the Solemn or Blinkmoth Nexus.

None of you speak about Heartless Hidetsugu... He's a 5cc creature (fits perfectly in the curve) with a SO powerful activated ability built on him...
    Food for thought...

Me 15, them 20 - end of their turn, pulse them to 16 and get back pulse, then tap Hidetsugu. Me 7, them 8. My turn, tap Hidetsugu, they go to 4 and i go to 3, and then pulse for win. Two card win.. I lovit!
    More on Hidetsugu later

Man oh man... this is the most pitiful display of decklists I have seen on this topic. I know that's rude but honestly usually is. First off, none of those decks seem to have been play tested at all, ever, once. I played Big Red through all of it's stages and can say that it isn't just "red control" and that it can be whatever you want it to be. Any serious tourney player can tell you that. A bad Tog player might have a good deck or vice versa, right? Well the same is evident with Big Red. Somewhere the metagame and player of the Ponza (version I'll say) Big Red does well where others don't. In the last year alone I tacked another 80 points to my constructed rating with this deck alone. Though the first build and the one I play today are far from similar. I'll post my first and last decklists after I recieve some well earned bashing for this post... I don't go by Nemesis for nothing.

"Ecce! In pictura est Spiritmonger altera!"

Ascetic72 and BTape... it took me all of three seconds after my post to come to this conclusion... I don't know where BTape is from but Ascetic72 is an Aussie so no wonder your decks are so odd. I'm from New York, the toughest Magic playing region in the western hemisphere (damn the french and japanese for their great pro tour caliber players!!!), so I can argue that I have the toughest metagame of all. When I'm playing at Neutral ground in the city againt Mike Flores, Michael Claire, Zvi Moshvitz*, Brian David-Marshal, or Bobby Peacock, John Glass, Jason Imperiale... phew... all of which have 1900-2000+ constructed ratings, I feel my opinion holds precedence. Sorry for coming off strong, just read the magic jerk column on starcitygames.com and you'll understand me better.

    Heartless Hidetsugu

I believe that his type will be Legendary Ogre Shaman just based on the novels, and he might have a demon/sacrifice trigger.

When playing at most limited tourneys I try my hardest to have a pad and pen with me so that I can write down notes. My stronger mind tricks involve asking for specific card names and CC's to jot down. Then in the following games I always count their available mana and look back and forth to the list, all while asking them to wait. I had one such opponent tell me afterwards that it was the most nerve racking game he ever played because he second guessed himself the whole time, and it went to three games with me losing the first (I won the set). Usually my attire doesn't change at all. It's all about mannerisms. I play cool and never flick my cards in hand, instead laying them out face down in front of me. In turn I always ask how many cards they have about ohhh... a mahzillion times. If you don't beat them with these tactics then you're doing something different. This can be a fun experience, making them unnerved, all while practicing your mind game tactics.

    Thats why I'm Nemesis.

Glen Angus has stated that Spiritmonger will not be reprinted using the new art, but is it possible that he may be under an NDC? Its awfully convenient for a new Spiritmonger pic to show up, then 1 gold card appearing in a set.

    Wishful Thinking on my behalf.

you see my avatar right? I've had that picture for quite some time, and I above anyone else in the world would enjoy it but sadly I too am just wishfully thinking.

well from a flavor sense there has got to be a safe haven for the spirits of the world. the lands from champions where all tied to the people inherent to the color they occupied. so my guess is that there will at least be an uncommon and rare land that have a spirit based theme to them, if not then they will most likely feed them to us in saviors.
