Quote from DementedKirby »Interesting... I will probably just maintain my primers here just because they have some history and have been here for a while. There's lots of discussions and I believe that they'll still be useful if I'm still able to edit and maintain them. That being said, the staff here at MTGSalvation have made the experience and forums an amazing place and their dedication deserves way more merit and credit than can be given. I hope that, once MTGNexus is up and running, an announcement can be made and thus be able to create an account there (and hopefully no one takes my username ). It won't be easy juggling between being active in two different sites, but I will probably only be attentive here to my primers. If the exodus towards MTGNexus is a certain thing, then I will join that immigration.
If the people who make up the relevant parts of the community to you are moving, then going over there could be reasonable. If not, then, at least personally, the community is way more important than the staff. In my case, at this point in time, I'm almost exclusively focused on the Mafia side of things, with the occasional foray into EDH. The EDH section is losing a number of serious people to this schism, so I'm probably just forgoing the game altogether for the time being; I haven't played Magic since August of last year anyways, if I recall correctly. Both communities will probably change, but it's a question of convenience of staying here or loyalty to people who are moving, the primary group of which and force behind which is staff. Both sites are at an unstable state. This site needs a staff that is actively focused on it and appreciates the community, Nexus will need people who like the old staff of Salvation enough to want to be there, and doesn't have the funding or people to be as stable as Salvation potentially can be at this time.
That said, as a user, you probably won't even notice most of it. The staff are just people, just the same as users. Their authority is an artificial concept. So make sure that whatever you choose, it's based on your feelings about the community, not just following either the staff to Nexus or just staying here for the site structure itself, as either way, you'll likely end up disappointed if that's the reasoning for your choice.
I see what you did there
I find that my current playgroup has gone beyond the cutthroat meta; we all run reasonably cutthroat decks, but we aren't trying to make the top decks or most played decks in the format, not because we don't know what they are, but because we know them too well. Diplomacy is very subtle as most players are skilled enough that bull*****ting people is easy to see through. It's a lot of fun, though it does limit some deck strategies. That said, I play a lot less often nowadays since transportation to the LGS is frustrating (hour by bus, 20-30 minutes IF I can find someone to drive me). So for all I know the group has gotten worse or fallen apart; at least a couple people have left the state.
Or Phyrexian Altar + Pawn of Ulamog.
(Though Reassembling Skeleton can also work at that point.)
While this deck is really cool, I'm very puzzled by the card Kiki-Kiki. Did Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker get a brother?
On the assumption that you intended to only do four of the trees, blue should be the one left out, not black.
Yggdrasil should probably cost 1GG
Mordant Tengu is not really a black card. It could be a green-blue card, but really it's a blue card.
Araz Tengu is a blue-black or mono-blue card, similarly.
Divide by 0 is a white-blue card, rather than blue-red.
Chroma Filter is getting printed in Fate Reforged.
Feeding Frenzy is a black card pretending to be a blue card.
Impenetrable Wall may just not work in the rules as worded. I'm not sure if there is a correct wording for that, though. Maybe just make it something like "[mc]1W[/mc]: Impenetrable Wall is blocking target creature." That's super painful, but I think it works.
It's like I'm trying to make everyone's black deck posts into versions of my own deck...
Though this does feel kinda like a beautiful combination of Xiahou Dun and Norin.
It also works well with:
Deserted Temple
Burnished Hart
Liliana Vess
Liliana of the Realms
Phyrexian Reclamation
Petrified Field
Ghost Quarter
Expedition Map
Volrath's Stronghold
Erebos, God of the Dead
Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief
and it's absurd with fetches if you ever add some variant of them in.
Flamerush Rider doesn't seem good for Norin, though it is interesting.
Arcbond, similarly, doesn't seem good for Norin, though it is also an interesting card.
Outpost Siege looks amazing.
1. Skullclamp
2. Cloudstone Curio + Instant-Speed Tokens
3. Stingscourger
4. Trading Post
5. Helm of Possession
6. Confusion in the Ranks
---------- Non-Gaka -------------
7. Goblin Bombardment
8. High Market
9. Goblin Sharpshooter
10. Phyrexian Altar/Ashnod's Altar/Skirk Prospector
11. Flamekin Village/Anger + Pandemonium/Warstorm Surge
-------------- And... Less Impressive ----------------
1. Warp World
2. Chaos Warp
3. Creature + Pandemonium/Warstorm Surge/Siege-Gang Commander/Confusion in the Ranks
4. Miscellaneous Creature Removal
5. Miscellaneous Permanent (including creatures) Removal
6. Duplicant (Uggh)
7. Aftershock (Uggh)
------------ Non-Gaka Not-Very-Impressive --------------
8. Liquimetal Coating + Artifact Removal/Goblin Welder
9. Thieves' Auction
Actually, after some thought on the matter, while this card might not fit in Gaka's list (not even sure if that's the case), other Norin lists could reasonably run it.
