The End of an Era

I've been mulling over trying Rishmi in the deck and going RUG. I'm looking at the energy cards as an option. Attune with Nature would act as deck thinning and Radiant Flames would be good at 3 damage. Attune would boost Harnessed Lightning as would a couple Hubs. Just me brainstorming out loud.

He ditched the energy package for better stand alone cards like flow and defiance. not sure why youd run only 2 tormenting voice with the tempers nd bombardments but sure nice to see maindeck 4 fevered visions/4 collective defiance is still viable tho. The unsubstantiates seem odd, disperse or negate seem like better utility but its interesting. My testing with chandra torch is limited but ive found it clunks my lines as an early draw and id rather see payoff immediately out of a mid game topdeck worked for this cali guy tho so theres somethin to it eh?

It seems like a solid list. I'll say that in this shell Defiance makes sense. I still have a deck close to this sleeved up. I'll have to test it out.

We are trying a 4th edition to Scourge format.

It removes all of the super expensive cards from the first sets and still keeps the feel of old school magic.

Our ban list is up in the air but I think the format has promise.

If you play Visions you have to be low to the ground and capable of dealing with early pressure.

Nahiri's Wrath or even some solid bounce works well to that end. Wrath can also handle Gideon and the creature. Which can be an issue. Defiance is no longer a go to card. Just stop playing it. Weaver may be the better choice over Thermo in this meta.

Nimblis of Frost is ideal for the side. I've been considering a deck using Nimblis and Reveler as the main win cons. I need to toss a list together and see how it performs.

It's the same system they used in Time Spiral. You just have a fourth set in the place of the core set.

More of an informational post than anything. I'm stoked about getting some extra use out of the Battle sets.

For everyone that's running low to the ground lists, why no copies of harness the storm? play another copy from the graveyard and then it goes back to the graveyard to be copied again next time you draw the spell. Seems great with take inventory and galvanic bombardment if nothing else. I'm also looking at incendiary flow, dual shot, lightning axe (lightning axe discarding lightning axe, HtS triggers the discarded copy, discarding fiery temper. 13 damage for 3 red anyone?), select for inspection, or harnessed lightning. All good (to me anyways) one and two drop spells that get better with multiple castings. Heck, even revolutionary rebuff can become a one mana extra convolute if needed.

Harness dictates a slightly different combo deck. I wouldn't be in on Visions but it would be worth a look. Corrupted Grafstone would go well in the deck to keep up with the aggro decks.

As for the UR control guys, consider Jace. He does all the things you'll want.

As I'm on the toilet at work I don't have my updated list but I run the full 4 Reveler's. I do not however run Thing or Thermo.

Reveler demands that the deck play more low to the ground spells. I'm running full playsets of Take Imventory and Galvanic Bombardment as a way to not care about discarding spells if needed to get my Reveler online. I'm also only in 21 lands so I don't play any big mana cards. The new dual land is a godsend for this style of the deck.

I play Insolant Neonite in the 1 drop slot to help stem early pressure and to give me a manaless discard outlet.

And anyone else think Noose Constrictor is an idea worth exploring? Something about a fast clock that can ouch the madness theme and really does a great job against Copter. I used to run Radiant Flames as my sweeper so 3 colors isn't nuts. This deck doesn't mind the fast lands so Botanical Garden wouldn't be a huge issue.

RUG makes the most sense. You could use some Randiant Flames to sweep up the small ball decks. There is also the prospect of running Fevered Visions and just trying to slow the game down to a point where you are constantly ahead of them with LD and the extra draw from Visions would keep the pressure one pretty well. You should be able to grind them out this way.

Not sure that you understand Wandering Fumurole's role in the deck. Also why wouldn't you try to be all in on Unsubstantiate? Visions plays best in a tempo shell, but you're trying to get a 5 mana payoff card that you're not equipped to get to.

The presence of vehicles will only up the total amount oh hate for this deck. Maybe I'm way off base here but you need to be lower to the ground with more true board control or you will just get run over.

I'm working in a Jund version that will run Midnight Oil and Harmless offering. Something about making your opponent have a maximum hand size of zero appeals to me.

I was never all that impressed by Languish. Radiant Flames is a suitable replacement as well. Will the deck be tier 1? Nope but it's a different type of game and that appeals to me.

Does Diabolical Tutor make this deck playable after rotation?

Robs charm is his directness. I remember when he posted the first list eon's ago and I was one of the few people who agreed with him. Even then he argued with me when I was agreeing with him. Sadly forums don't allow for people to get a good feel for posters personalities. Rob is a solid guy but he can come off as dismissive.

The Smallpox builds are superior in my eyes and have always been so. I'm on that side and won't change my mind. Tom Ross built a version that operates in the current meta. Will that build be great next week, probably not. The deck has to be constantly tweaked in order to continue having results.
