That is a shame but you must do what pleases you. I just post on this primer as the other primer has basically no relevance to my build as it is admittedly just BUG reanimator where the author states that he rarely casts his commander.
Just figured I would share the deliciousness that sage will add to my build
What is your strategy when there are 1-2 other reanimation decks in the game? Do you find that people get to reanimate bombs from your GY?
Been a while since I last posted on here. Haven't been able to play much EDH myself as I'm a new daddy and started a new job a few months ago that has different hours than many of my friends.
It has been a favourite combo of mine for some time as a backup to a big skittles but I recommend adding Lord of Extinction, Nether Traitor and/or Invisible Stalker. It isn't nearly as cut throat as a turn 2 flashed Sylvan Primordial. They don't really offer any good value to an opponent's reanimate deck either. The number of times I have killed a player with a Nether Traitor/EoT Invisible Stalker + Lord of Extinction is too hard to count. It does rely on a low amount of graveyard hate to an extent but it isn't hard to Intuition or Buried Alive it and still be able to get it into play before any hate comes.
Just thought I would share as it brought me a big ass grin.
So playing a game the other night. I was at 18 commander with a lethal dose of Derevi coming flying over me the following turn. I had no cards in hand thanks to another playing popping a black Myojin the turn before mine. Essentially I was dead without any answers. Thanks to the Mirri's Guile I had in play three cards down was a Genesis Wave. Cast it for 35. GG to the table. They tried to hold out but I literally was able to deal with every situation they had to counter it in those 35 cards. One of the most satisfying wins in my years of playing. Go team Omnath!
Hello all! Just recently built my own Omnath deck. My meta has really gotten fast and competitive recently. I was sick trying to compete with fast clock/really powerful decks using many of my decks which were really janky. Glissa elfball for instance just doesn't work well. Long story short I wanted to make a stompy deck with a fast clock. Omnath made the short list. After playing three games with Omnath winning 2/3 and almost winning the 3rd I am amazed at how powerful this deck is. Like I almost feel bad playing it.
I have a counter heavy meta and put in City of Solitude and Hall of Gemstones. Both showed up and were houses in those games. My meta still has to learn how to deal with this deck. They let me have Omnath all the time. Bad idea. After aggressively tutoring up Seedborn Muse a couple times I think they will appreciate the mistake that it.
Also, Nyxthos, Shrine to Nyx was amazing for me. My Gaea's Cradle is in my Rhys deck and can't afford another. This makes a capable substitution. Why don't you run it?
I took a lot of inspiration off this primer. Thanks for all the work you put into it Xaios
I like some features but not others. I enjoy the fact that when you hover over a card link it shows the card without having to click on it to open a new window. The user menu has been improved as well. I particularly like being able to see recent posts so easy. The overall look of the site though I don't enjoy. It has been made too polished IMO. One thing in particular I think this has changed is the number of threads per page you can view. It is much less. In forums with many stickies that will be all you see.
Also, my sig doesn't work like it used to on the old site. I'm sure this can be fixed though.
So I have been having some trouble getting off a combo kill before I am killed myself. I find that often I can do a bunch of damage to everyone. Some times even start to lay on the infect heavy. I just can't seem to do enough damage in one/two turn(s) to kill the whole board. As such I generally have 2-3 players deciding it is time to kill me before I can output enough damage.
I'm also having issues with early game aggro having it's way with me.
Anyone have any advice to deal with this?
I just added some more tweaks that hopefully will help with this.
I had it in there once but it was too hit or miss. Some games it would give me 5-10. Many games though it didn't seem to be worth the investment. It has no synergy with any doubler and doesn't produce as much as a doubler will in most cases.
Forced Fruition, Would Reflection and Gratuitous Violence all seem a little too win more for my tastes. I just feel like if I'm in a position where they will be effective I will probably be winning anyway.
+Grafted Exoskeleton what other poison cards want to be.
+Mana Geyser Tons of mana to cast spells is fun
+Comet storm something to do with all that mana also can act as spot removal.
+Time Spiral Free Wheels are always nice.
+Sensei's Divining top
+Scroll Rack sets up wheels nicely
+Torpor Orb I've gotten Concessions form this card alone.
+Overburden Wreaks some decks.
+your favorite two counterspells/spot removal
I'm really trying to make this an infect kill deck. There are two life gain decks in my meta that, without infinity combos (which I don't like), I don't know if I could take them out sans infect.
Mana Geyser and Time Spiral were both originally on my list and I cut them. They probably will both end up back on the list to be honest. I just need to get a feel for how the deck plays a bit before those fine tweaks. Overburden just wasn't enough for me. There are a few decks in my meta that would have no problem returning a land to hand. Especially if they can drop it and tap it twice in one turn. I prefer the stall I have.
I'm actually considering not running tutors in this deck because I think the tremendous amount of wheel effects means I won't need to search for any one card in particular. If I do, it will probably only be Vampiric so I can cast it mid-wheel. I don't see Sorcery speed tutors being worthwhile in this particular deck, that includes Ponder/Preordain. Lim-Dul's Vault also seems fantastic.
I have debated cutting Demonic Tutor to be honest. I would keep the rest though as they are instant speed. On top of that Vampiric Tutor and Long-Term Plans are great for this build as they let you search for a wheel, place it on top of your deck (or 3 down), cast a wheel, draw another wheel, and cast a second one that turn.
How do you guys protect your general, especially since you use auras?
Only the greaves gives shroud. The boots and darksteel plate don't get in the way. I have debated Pemmin's Aura as well which will protect me when I need it.
Basically I also don't play on playing my commander until I have both a way to win and a way to protect it. I have yet to see how this will go as I haven't played it once yet.
I have to say the infect touch is quite funny. You might try using Fork/Reverberate/Twincast. They can act as "Counter target counterspell" if necessary. I had the following deck together for some time with a different commander so I was very happy when Nekusar was spoiled (and as such, it isn't too dependent on the commander).
Infect just seems like the most reliable way to win with this type of deck. A double wheel with infect and the table dies. Yes please!
I originally had two copy spells in here but cut them for space concerns. They may make it back in the list at some point.

Basically I would say big black mana, mill, and helix pinacle are the best ways I can think of that don't involve combo or creatures.

I run Tezz for the artifact tutor/untap.

I think I'll switch greaves to the helm. Thanks for the suggestion.
