I frequently have a few people play a wrath effect when I'm playing with Green Kamahl with a TON of green mana open.

I don't kill their lands - they do. I just help them do it.

It usually elicits a huge roar from the table and the mention that they'll never do that again.
    you're my new favorite.

I am constantly killing myself with my own Intervention Pact. I have a terrible memory and can never remember to pay the upkeep costs, but the card has won me as many games as it's lost so I can't justify taking it out.

I dunno if you've had this suggestion before, but try putting a die or counter on top of your deck, or the Pact itself on top of your deck sideways, so that you remember before drawing your card for the next turn. It's helped me out a ton.

It boils down to: Do I give up a stable, useful way of looking for action cards in my deck for the ability to potentially tutor for color fixing and offshoot of winning.

In my opinion, no. You either support the 5C Maze's End win with a full land utility package, or don't use the Maze's End package, it's too slow as both fixing and a wincon. I suppose as a meta consideration, if your group doesn't use land destruction (targeted or otherwise) you might be able to squeak in some surprise ("surprise": ten turn) wins here and there, but I doubt it. The other big consideration is budget, I guess - if you want to build a 5C deck and don't have access to a billion dollars worth of duals, fetches and shocks, Maze's End is a decent option.

I would definitely consider cards like Spreading Seas, Floodchaser, Quicksilver Fountain, Jinx, Mystic Compass, or Tideshaper Mystic to support the landwalkers / Wrexial. They also feel weirdly flavorful - sea monster enablers, haha.

Sealock Monster does it with bonus flavor.

Godo, Bandit Warlord, Voltron style. (Too bad the mono-R Samurai selection is pretty small.)

Fumiko, the Lowblood is cool and unique.

Márton Stromgald could be good with a big swarm of Goblins. Just have a way to protect him before swinging with your swole-ass army.

Lovisa Coldeyes for sick tribal fun.

    In that order.

Step one: Add one Sol Ring.

    Step two: everything else.

Don't know if it's something you'd want but Citadel of Pain, Price of Glory, or Burning Sands?

Citadel + Price seems like a heinous, brutal combo to fight some of the blue shenanigans in my local meta.

    I love it.

Shriekmaw immediately struck me as useful, since evoking him is 2/3rds of the Kuon activation right there. Creatures that can be cast from the graveyard and sac outlets - like Gravecrawler, a zombie and a free sac outlet - can trigger him super easy, too. I'd be wary of using too many creatures in a deck that will require you to sacrifice creatures, but if you have a token generator like Bitterblossom around, you can probably keep ahead of your opponents.

I'm sure Morbid triggers will be a helpful place to start, too, especially Tragic Slip being able to take out a second creature of an opponent's even through difficult stuff like Indestructible.

Sorry if it seems that way. I thought I might have been overreacting as my friends didn't notice anything unusual about his behavior.

You aren't being childish at all. Gossiping about the issue would be childish - you're clearly interested in the goodwill of the group you play with and needed advice on how to read a social situation. I think you're fine.

posted a message on They're really trying to kill the "EDH" name.
I'm so sick of people complaining about specific cards ruining the format because they think they are un-fun, and it's what the "EDH vs. Commander" argument always boils down to - individuals thinking their opinion is what will make Commander "better" because X card or Y concept or Z cycle is "too [adjective that boils down to "not what I want and therefore destructive to the format"]".

There are people and cards like that in every format. Deal with it or play a different format. Formats change over time. New cards change non-rotating formats in ways current players may not always like. Power creep is inevitable. Most notably, bomby creatures doing gross things is not a Commander concept, it is the overall strategy for modern Magic, according to Wizards. Just look at Standard - they're getting just as much nutso ETB creatures, and the EDH-bred characters are just larger versions of the same creature creep. None of this is going to change, at least not in the near future.

Popularity is a mixed blessing for long-time players, but just because someone is a long-time player doesn't mean the game has to be tailored to them, or that their gameplay style is a golden idol never to be touched by changing tides of strategy and support.
