Nov 10, 2009Well my 5 game win streak in MTGS3 league has me in 2nd place overall, 1st in my division. Looks like my slow start isn't gonna screw me over as bad as I thought it would. Ray Rice in the 9th is looking like my greatest value pick, but Brandon Marshall has served me well for a 4th rounder.Posted in: Entertainment Archive
Oct 13, 2009So I got a question for all you guys. There's another league I'm in that is just a 6 player league with me and my buddies so we all have stacked teams. Well this week I'm having a conundrum of who I should play, as all 5 of my great running backs have either super easy or middling match ups this week. If you were me which 3 would you start from MJD against the Rams, Ryan Grant against the Lions, Brian Westbrook @ the Raiders, DeAngelo Williams @ the Bucs and Pierre Thomas against the Giants?Posted in: Entertainment Archive
Sep 8, 2009I'd run out Roddy White and Lance Moore and leave LenDale White in. TO could be anywhere from terrible to great, but I would wait a week or so to watch him in game. Santana Moss is a bye week or injury replacement at best in a 10 team league.Posted in: Entertainment Archive
Aug 14, 2009I just did my draft with another leage I'm in with some friends from college and I got what I think is going to be a beast of a team.Posted in: Entertainment Archive
1. (7) Maurice Jones-Drew
2. (14) Drew Brees
3. (27) Pierre Thomas
4. (34) Thomas Jones
5. (47) Vincent Jackson
6. (54) Willie Parker
7. (67) Reggie Bush
8. (74) Bernard Berrian
9. (87) Lance Moore
10. (94) Jerricho Cotchery
11. (107) Kyle Orton
12. (114) Percy Harvin
13. (127) Jets D/ST
14. (134) Leon Washington
15. (147) Jeremy Shockey
16. (154) Nick Folk
I got the 7th pick which is around where I like to go ideally, so I was happy at that. When MJD fell into my lap at 7 I was even happier, and Brees at 14 to go with MJD was pretty awesome. I stocked up on RB's with my next few picks because everyone was drafting WR's fast, and I picked a few RB's that are fragile so I figured having some good backups would be good. My WR's seem to mostly be boom or bust guys, other than Vincent Jackson, and I figured at least 1 of my other 3 would be good. I felt like Kyle Orton was a great pickup for my backup, I really like him this year. I got a lot of Staints, I hope they live up to the hype offensively.
I feel like my team is basically going to be completely stacked at RB. I'm hoping I'll be able to make some trades to upgrade my WR corps, maybe get another starter.
Jul 1, 2009Posted in: SportsQuote from ArchyI'm not too keen on the Carter going to Magic deal - the Magic were fine as it is. If they got to keep Turkoglu and have everyone else improve, they could have a good shot at it next year. But no. They traded away a decent backup center, a young promising guard, and another guard. Ehh.
So... how does the Magic starting lineup look next year? I do hope Nelson will get back to his best (no doubt he will), and Carter-Shard looks interesting. But ehh, it's not like Turkoglu needed replacing to begin with.
The Carter trade both saved them a lot of money that resigning Turkoglu would have cost and gave them a significantly better player to replace him. Vince is both more athletic and he can create good shots for himself with much more consistency. Also, they already have a better backup center in Gortat, Vince replaces Lee at the 2 and Alston wasn't doing anything for them with Jameer back. So all in all the move cost them very little to save a tremendous amount of money and arguably improve their team. Not a bad deal.
Jun 22, 2009Posted in: Entertainment ArchiveQuote from ThunderGodLeoKobe is simply better.
4 vs 0, really? You can say Kobe had Shaq but Shaq couldn't have won it without Kobe either. Most LeBron supporters say he had the worst team but if I recall during the regular season people were absolutely fawning over Lebron's supporting cast.
Or you could talk about how Kobe has been in the league three times as long as LeBron. That might be one of the reason....
Jun 21, 2009Posted in: Entertainment ArchiveQuote from Petear_GriffinCleveland didn't come close at all to beating Orlando. If it wasn't for Lebron's miracle at the buzzer, the Cavs would have been swept.
Except where both games 1 and 4 easily could have gone the Cavs way had anyone on the team other than LeBron shown up.
Jun 15, 2009I don't see why the Cleveland LeBrons wouldn't do everything in their power to get Shaq. If they don't win a title next year LeBron would definitely have a better chance of heading out of Cleveland, and if they had a legitimate 2nd option or big man they very likely could have had a championship this year. For the Suns it would save them tons of money, especially if Wallace agrees to a buyout, which he very well could.Posted in: Sports
Jun 13, 2009Strange but interesting. This is a car advertisement from Great Britain. When they finished filming the ad, the film editor noticed something moving along the side of the car, like a ghostly white mist. They found out that a person had been killed a year earlier in that exact same spot. The ad was never put on TV because of the unexplained ghostly phenomenon.Posted in: Talk and Entertainment
Watch the front end of the car as it clears the trees in the middle of the screen and you'll see the white mist crossing in front of the car then following it along the road....Spooky!
Is it a ghost, or is it simply mist? You decide.
If you listen to the ad, you'll even hear the cameraman whispering in the background about it near the end of the commercial.
(You have to turn up the volume pretty loud to hear the camera man talking)
Jun 13, 2009Posted in: Entertainment ArchiveQuote from WrathchildMeh, maybe it's just me, but I really don't see the Eagles winning a Super Bowl with McNabb at the helm. I know a lot of the teams losing factors include defense, but I just got a weird feeling about it.
I would of liked to see ask for a trade. Seeing him go to the Vikings would be nice.
...but no.....we're probably gona be seeing the Diva over there soon enough.
Nice is the understatement of the year. We're staring down the barrel of Brett Favre or TAINT Jackson running the team, I would take pretty much any starting QB over either of them.
May 18, 2009Great win by the Magic, they dominated all game. I'm saying Cav's sweep, Denver in 6 and Cav's win in 7 over Denver.Posted in: Sports
Denver has clearly played better all post season, and I really think Nene is going to dominate Bynum, and LA has no one to check Carmello. Kobe is going to get his 30 or so every night, but K-Mart has a good chance of putting Pau down and Bynum has not been good enough to get around Nene.
May 5, 2009Alright Yao and Ron-Ron did their thing. I'm so down for the Rockets taking out the Lakers, LA was way to cocky all season for a team that lost in the title game last year. That could open up things for an actually competitive and exciting rest of the Western conference.Posted in: Sports
Apr 25, 2009Percy Harvin :/. Well I wasn't expecting much from this draft, our only real need position is at the GB and management seems to think T-Jack is the long term answer. I'm jealous of the Jets right now.Posted in: Entertainment Archive
Apr 25, 2009Posted in: SportsQuote from SillyMetalGATAs for the Portland game, its so upsetting to see Portland losing to Houston, especially wiht Yao and Artest not doing anything offensively, Portland should've smashed on them. But Artest did a really good job of D-ing Roy all night, and that sucks. Roy needs to get his head out of his ass and really start to go hard.
Roy can play as hard as he wants, as long as Houston played D like they did that game he's not going to get going. Houston has 2 of the top 5 perimeter defenders in the league in Battier and Artest to put on Roy all game and great big men like Yao and Scola (whose playing far above his head this series) to close the lane and stop layups.
Also, even if KG isn't Boston's best player (I still think he is, Finals MVP just mean you played best in the Finals. It doesn't say anything about getting to the Finals) he's definitely their second best and their best defensive player. Not having him takes the team down a notch. It's like LA without Pau, just not the same team as before and definitely worse.
