So I just learned of this band, Wolfbrigade, through a blog I read from time-to-time.

I need to go change my pants now.

    Library is almost 100% metal.

Exceptions include Calyx and Teebee, Infected Mushroom, God is an Astronaut, Lupe Fiasco, and Cubbiebear.

I highly recommend all the works of Powerwolf, Blind Guardian and Demons & Wizards. Iced Earth's Something Wicked This Way Comes is also fantastic.

That Skrillex track is actually good, broctogon. Nice try though.

Yeah Skrillex is pretty awesome. I like how he has a soft/heavy approach to Dubstep. I actually use his music to demonstrate good dubstep, as opposed to bad dubstep.

Hey guys. I got into LoL after I received a free champion (Jax) for being at PAX East and have been enjoying it ever since.

    Champs I play:
    Renekton
    Amumu (Jungle)
    Warwick (Jungle)
    Nunu (Jungle)
    Rammus (Lane)
    Zilian
Anivia (I'm not so great at ranged champs, honestly)
    Irelia

I'm level 25 at the moment. Using IP boosts for Runes.

The username I go by is also Dracosavant.

None of the songs have hit me quite as hard as "Virtues of the Beast" (off Sumerian Daemons) did on first listen.

That being said, after one listen of The Great Mass I already know I am going to like it more than Communion, which I enjoyed very much.

I've heard Amon Amarth's new album. It is pretty damn sick...like, really sick.

Yes. It is quite awesome. Even the SOAD cover.

Amon Amarth is a band where every album just so happens to be better than the one before it. Which is quite a feat

I agree that since The Avenger their albums have gone up in quality (Not that any I'd say any individual album is bad by any means). I really think their first, Once Sent From the Golden Hall, remains the best album they've ever released. Victorious March is quite possibly the best single track they've ever written. The other tracks, most notably: Ride for Vengeance, Without Fear, Friends of the Suncross and Amon Amarth aren't too shabby either Wink

    -------------------------

I don't listen to much MDM anymore, my tastes are tending towards black metal and death metal these days. The biggest exception are Insomnium, who I think are far and away the greatest MDM band to ever grace our planet
and are my favorite band of all time (Realistically, it's a tie between them, Enslaved and Agalloch).

    My favorite MDM:
    Insomnium
    Dark Tranquillity
    In Flames
    At The Gates
    Omnium Gatherum
    Solution .45
    Scar Symmetry
    Dark Lunacy
    Amon Amarth
    Soilwork
    Disarmonia Mundi

In Flames did a great cover of Everything Counts by Depeche Mode on their album Whoracle.

Northern Kings are a band headed by four amazing power metal vocalists who do power metal covers of very popular and recognizable pop songs.
    Take On Me
    Kiss From a Rose
    Don't Stop Believin'
    Creep

  • posted a message on Best Movie of 2010?
I decided to put my vote in for Inception. It was thoroughly entertaining, well thought out and the ideas presented (dream invasion) are some of the coolest I've ever seen in a film. The cast was also excellent, with great acting all around. It may not be the best movie on the list artistically and I'm sure many viewers find the ending as a cop out or the movie flawed, but Inception has quickly become my favorite movie. I simply cannot be bored of it.

And if you think it is pointless torture and gore, than you're obviously not smart enough to get the real point of the movies. The traps are just a utility to convey a greater message.

Oh my god you have got to be trolling. A greater message? Enlighten us oh great one. In the mean time, I'll take the series as what it really is - Stupid, disgusting, violent and pretty much irrelevant in all aspects. The philosophy behind the traps is so paper thin it acts solely as a vehicle to continue the intense, pointless gore. It is not good horror. It is not good violence. It is not even close to what a sane person would consider a good movie outside of the shock value. I cannot believe, with the high caliber of movies on this list, that anyone would even consider a write-in for such a pile of inane garbage.

    Quorthon (Bathory)
    Chuck Schuldiner (Death)
    Krzysztof "Doc" Raczkowski (Vader)
    Terje "Valfar" Bakken (Windir)

Considering the caliber of bands these guys were in, I think it's clear why I'd pick them.

  • posted a message on ATHEIST, Jupiter
I've got a few bands that came to mind. Animals As Leaders is one. They perform progressive metal that is entirely instrumental. Another is Cloudkicker, an instrumental djent (one-man) band that's pretty much blown me away.

I know the harsh vocals are pretty difficult to get past for some people, but you might enjoy the band Cynic. I've seen them be mentioned with Atheist often, but Cynic take an even more jazz/progressive approach and even have some neat auto-tuned clean vocals (between the growls).

There's likely to be more but that's just off the top of my head.

Oh yeah, it's also worth noting that while Jupiter is pretty solid in my opinion, Atheist have much better albums out there. Jupiter is their latest, and also their come-back.

So... does anyone on MTGS listen to folk music? I don't think I've seen any mention of it =/

I listen to some Neofolk music, been getting into it more and more over the years.

    Death In June
    Sol Invictus
    Darkwood
    Agalloch (The White EP)
    October Falls (Early work)
    Empyrium (Later work)
Uaral (Mixed with some doom/black metal elements)

The most memorable I've done are from World of Warcraft, -sigh-
    1. Killing Moam in AQ20 with a desperation Raptor Strike (Hunter) as the only remaining raid member alive (WoW classic).
    2. Working with 24 other players to achieve the title "The Immortal" in Naxx before Ulduar was released.
    3. Working with 24 other players to be the first horde guild on my server to destroy Yogg-saron.
I guess getting 100% complete in the original Crash Bandicoot when I was in elementary school is pretty nice.

  • posted a message on 2010-2011 NFL Season and Fantasy Football Thread
    Hey all.

As anyone in the league I was a part of can guess, I didn't really take Fantasy Football seriously. I failed to set my auto draft into an acceptable list, and I knew I would be unable to make the live draft. Sucked to be me.

If I had more Fantasy Football experience, which I was able to acquire in an NFL.com league where I am currently competing for 3rd place overall, I'd have been better prepared. (Having Austin Collie and Antonio Gates suffering from so many injuries knocked me out of 1st, which I held for six or so weeks, but I was able to get to the playoffs)

Anyways, why I am posting this is because I would like to tell all of you that next season, if I am invited, I will put much, much more effort into keeping up and forming a solid team. I know I failed to do so this season, but I would love to redeem myself down the road.

I guess a few of you enjoyed the free wins, eh? Grin

Aside from that, I haven't really posted much at all in this thread, but I have to say that this years football season has been incredible. My two favorite teams, the Pittsburg Steelers and the Atlanta Falcons are currently among the best teams in the NFL which has me very excited for the playoffs. I also have to hand it to the Eagles and Vick for being incredibly entertaining to watch. That Eagles/Giants game this past weekend might be my favorite game of the season so far, although I really enjoyed the Falcons/Packers and the Raiders/Jaguars games.

    Just my thoughts so far.
